Ok here's the only thing.

Do not DATE people from Cedar Point. Don't do it. Um, you can mess around all you want but do not think that you are going to get a reasonable long term relationship out of it - very few people make that work and it's a big mess. Plus it's more fun to just go out all the time and not worry about that BS.

As for creds, I worked there from summer 1999 to Halloweekends 2002, in ride ops for the whole time, on a lot of different rides. Just have a good time and you'll make some good friends too.

Wasn't planning on it. I can imagine all the stupid highschool-ish drama that would cause. Ugh.

...I mean, I wasn't planning on it, assuming someone actually calls me back and I get hired.

So here is my excited update:

About an hour ago, I did an interview over the phone with this guy Steve (I forget his last name), who I guess is one of the higher-up people in rides. All the questions were stuff I'd answerered before, just your basic customer service "what would you do with a rude customer or in this situation", etc. kind of questions.

So at the end he said everything looked good, and that they were going to maybe call my references, do a background check, have his boss review my application, and he said that I would definitely hear back from him within the next 7 days!

So it looks like if everything goes right I'll be a ride op at CP this season! Freaking sweet!

Wow I've always wanted to work at Cedar Point for a season and this just boosted my desire to do that!! I'm determined to apply and get a job next season, 2009, because i cant do it this summer. But i definately want to do it, i've always wanted to work at a theme park as well and with Cedar Point offering employee housing, it's the best candidate.

I cant wait. That's an entire year away before i can apply though.

Thanks for all the info guys!

Revived your jobs, were they dead?

Seriously is there an amusement chain you two haven't worked for? Maybe this is not the industry for you. I mean weren't you so excited about Disney? Thankfully I have no desire to visit CP this summer, course I am sure you will be working for SF come July anyway.

Actually I have no desire to work at SF unless it is Magic Mountain, and I think there might be a few amusement park chains that I have not worked for, but I mean what is the big deal? Ok...so I have worked at a few amusement parks... at least I am enjoying my life.

Did I say you weren't enjoying your life? But everytime you switch you give this huge explanation of why this one will be different, or better, or what ever. Universal, Busch, Disney, Cedar Fair, they all still involve running rides. To me it seems very strange to change jobs that often as I have only had 7 jobs in 20 years.

It might be strange to change jobs that much, but I want to enjoy what I do, and I love to operate roller coasters!! I mean yeah I change parks a lot, but who wants to stay at the same ride for 50,000 years? So I change jobs so I can still enjoy working at a roller coaster, but not always at the same ride. See the one thing you don't know is that after my 7 months with Cedar Point I am moving back to Florida and I am starting college! *Shock* and since I have to go to college for 13 years I thought I should enjoy life before I start school. So don't worry... after Cedar Point there will be no more me working at amusement parks.

Why not just change rides in the same park? I mean, I understand the wanting to work at Cedar Point thing since its such a big park, but if you get tired of the same ride its not like Busch only had one ride, Universal only has one ride etc etc

Good luck though

What are you going to study that takes 13 years to study?

Or are you pre-planning switching majors a couple times?

I tried to change rides within the park, but there was always a reason they would not let me. Like at Universal since I was at a show they would not let me go to a roller coaster all I could do would be transfer to another show. I also tried to transfer to Montu while I was at Busch Gardens, but they would not let me because they said that "Montu already had more employees than it needed."

Oh and thank you for wishing me good luck

13 years of college. Good luck with that. Course since you are planning on living for 50,000 years the time will go fast. Like Parktrips said why not just switch rides at the same park. I refuse to believe the same guy who had a thread about bread will really go to college for that long.

Thread about bread? What am I missing?

Well, if you are only satisfied with the biggest, best ride in the park, then I can understand why you'd constantly switch parks. I'm sure that operating Universal's coasters is a privilege itself, and that you have to earn the right to work there, not just walk in...

13 years -- didn't he want to become a surgeon of sorts? I hope you don't get tired performing routine procedures.

At Universal you do just walk in and get hired at a coaster. For example... Tony walked in... applied and got a job at the Mummy, and yes it would have been a privilege to work at any Universal coaster, but when you are working at Shrek 4-D it is not like you are working at the Mummy.

Surgeon... yes... Plastic Surgeon.

The thread about bread reference was from last year when you were getting ready to go after your dream job at Disney and wanted to know the cost of things in Florida.

Oh yes... I remember... So you think because I was asking what the cost of living was like in Florida that I am not going to be able to make it as a plastic surgeon? Care to explain that one?

Yeah, but you still have to have the right frame of mind. I worked at a food stand in USH for a few months and loved it, just because I knew I was working in a theme park. The only reason I left was transportation issues at the time. I'm not saying you guys don't enjoy what you're doing, I'm just saying you probably won't get transferred to the ride you want if you're standing there all day like "Oh, man, I hate working this ride, I wish I was on a coaster".

And as for CP, in my interview I said I loved coasters and I wanted an "adult" ride... I got put on the train. They'll place you guys wherever there's space needed; getting the ride you want is pretty much luck if you haven't worked at the park before.

I really don't care if you make it or not to be honest I will just be glad to not have you posting about your new , amazing, better then the last job every 3 months.

It just seems ironic that you can imagine being in the same place for 13 years, when you can't stay at the same job for 3 months. Again I am just saying, everyone deserves to have the chance to do what they want for a living so all the best to you.
