Double post:

i heard they were doing more work on minebuster.

With all of the snow we got this winter, i hope it is up and running by august.  Last years repairs were worth the wait.

The parts they did last year were great... Then the second half of the ride tried to kill me.

Agreed, first half retrack = awesome, then chiropratic help is needed after that god awful and just painful tunnel helix final thing.

Y'all are soft.  Soft!  Minebuster is an airtime speed machine on both halves.  The helix is the best part, just like The Beast.  It might be a little rough and tumble but it's a wood coaster, they're supposed to be.

Christ, you young'ns would have died in the 90s...

Your delusional. I guess you could call it an airtime speed machine if you had just rode Flight deck then Time Warp then Sky rider in comparison. I'm 60 so not young'n. The beast cannot EVER be compared to this mess, ever. It is also the not best helix I currently know and never will be. Maybe a helix retrack will help, but not enough to ever make it a airtime speed machine. Delusional.

I loved the Minebuster last summer, the helix was just the right amount of rough to make it interesting! Now Wildebeest, or whatever they call it, damn near killed me. That's the one in desperate need of retracking.

I had actually just come from two days at Cedar Point. Minebuster was the second coaster I rode after Leviathan.  It kicks ass, you're wrong, ride it in the back row and stop being a wuss.

I have always liked Minebuster since riding it when it was new.

The last while it was in the category of rides i don't go on every visit.

The improvements they made last year were amazing and the back half was passable but it stuck out compared with the new first half. It also got a lot busier than it had been before.

If they are going to do more work on it, i will say thank you. If they can even get close to what they did last year it will be a really great coaster.

Wonderland has got much busier and making Minebuster a solid coaster again will help give some of those people a nice line to stand in.

Since everyone is surely on the edge of their seats, a mini passholder preview report.

When I got there the weather was cool and gloomy with light rain in the forecast. They opened the entrance gates a bit ahead of the 5:00pm start so i thought i would head towards alpenfury. When i got there there was less than 100 people waiting to be let in, so i thought it would probably be the shortest wait i will have for it all year. I hadnt seen it testing so i took a chance that it was going to run and was rewarded. There was a lot of excited chatter among fans in line, with the girls ahead of me being at least as coaster nerdy as me!

They started a few test trains around 5:00 and i got on with less than  a 20 min wait. Somehow by chance i wound up with a front row seat, which i have never experienced before.

Lets just say that it was an amazing start to my rollercoaster season. I liked it a lot the few times i rode it last year, but this was an incredible ride. Front row is a treat.

It is incredibly smooth and well paced and the heartlining is a masterclass in how it is done!

The ride ops and staff were all enthusiastic and really good, especially for the first day for many.

It wasn't too crowded at first so i got quick rides on vortex, Behemoth and yukon before too many people got there. Everything rode well and the new ride ops were pretty good at moving the crowds through.

A lot of off season work has been done. They had cleaned up around Kingswood where rumour is it will be torn down.

Minebuster had received a lot of work and was not quite ready yet.

Backlot was also closed and i heard it was getting some work.

They have started to paint the old SLC hang and bang with green supports and yellow/ gold paint. I did not walk past it to take a photo. When it reopens i give it the benefit of the doubt and ride it, but it will at least look nice as i walk past it to get to behemoth.

I had dinner at the great bear lodge where they had changed up the menu items. The hand breaded chicken filllets were nice. You could hardly tell they didn't have a machine.

Walking out you get a nice view of where alpenfury’s tracks weave between vortex and guardian. It gave me fond thoughts of hershey park. It may be a while before i get back there.

The weather cleared and the sun came out as the crowds started to come in. I got more rides in than i expected and cleared out to let them have a turn. I am looking forward to a great season.

80's baby here. I beat the fuck out of my body playing ice hockey, work out most other days I'm not playing, have been in more than a few work related tussles, don't mind getting hurt or dirty, and I still don't like rides that rattle and jab the fuck out of you. I don't need glass smooth, but to a certain degree, that kind of discomfort is just not enjoyable.

Hmm, maybe this BDSM thing of mine has a deeper meaning...
