WillMontu
More Kennywood Still to come: Jackrabbit, Turtle, Lunch, Walkbacks, and more To be continued.... A closer view of the Arrow/Morgan transition Top of the second drop How was your ride? Of course, it's still got enough to get Jahan aroused. This also probably explains the unusual lap bars The trains retain the original Arrow chassis The lift The inversions were replaced with these air-time hills You can see the difference between the original Arrow and the newer Morgan track here The second drop is the largest, and was a record breaker when it was built. It was extended by five feet when it was transformed into Phantom's Revenge The ride was originally a Ron Toomer coathanger machine, but the second half of the ride was rebuilt The first drop The entrance (and a credit for Terrance) It did have a bit of a line It isn't Kennywood without riding the Phantom Chuck looking a bit ghostly (or is it really his twin Skippy?) One of the last scenes is a rotating tunnel, which is very disorienting Which way do we go? Does PETA know about the living conditions for these animals? The first scene consists of a few Animatronic-type figures They were pretty popular back in the day The Noah's Ark walk-through is another rare ride. AFAIK, there are three still around, including the one at BPB, and a third somewhere, but I'm not so sure. It is mandatory to go to Potato Patch when at Kennywood It's just like Blackpool, with Big Dipper, Pepsi (Max Big One) and Avalanche The park loses points for the Pepsi The Pittsburg Plunge is not a Dan Friendly ride There's also the Pitt-Fall, an Intamin drop tower Time to "ghost ride the Whip". It's an increasingly rare type of ride, especially with BPB finally taking out theirs It is one of the older models with the lap bars that come down from above The park basically took a standard spinning mouse and give it some good theming Exterminator, the indoor spinning mouse So after ERT, we checked out some of the other things the park has to offer
pkdcoaster
Great pictures Will I am so depressed I am in a hotel ALL day 8 miles from Kennywood on opening day and the weather is crap and the forecast is for t-storms. oh well hopefully I will get this run again in the summer. Great photos of the whole trip too JEFF

Zen Coaster
Nice pics, glad to see this is active again. Definitely post the PKI ones. Can't believe I missed Noah's Ark, looks like a kooky experience.

WillMontu
Kennywood continued The next update (if and when I get around to it) is going to consist of photos from the behind-the-scenes walkback of T-Bolt, Phantom, and Jackrabbit. After that, I'll post some pictures from lunch and then skip ahead to Stricker's Grove, and possibly a brief King's Island section The mental age of everyone on this train is probably a new low for Kennywood. To be continued.....? Big guy, little ride Almost... Is he going to fit? The cars are not very big You do need to watch your head though And the "No Maximum Height Restriction" rule makes Casey very happy Fortunately, having a kid to ride with is optional. Any credit whores here? Little Phantom was modeled after the Steel Phantom. When Steel Phantom became Phantom's Revenge, the ride received a new color scheme to match the new Phantom It's a small kiddie coaster We have more credits to get Still looking good after all these years Not many of these left While chains like Cedar Fair try to remove all their historical landmarks, Kennywood tries to retain them The Kennywood Arrows again A "patriotic" trash can The Cedar Fair trash cans are jealous There's more stuff around to check out, such as these creepy looking trash cans
Zen Coaster
Hahaha, can't believe I missed out on that. Just as well there weren't any overhanging tree branches!!
WillMontu
More Kennywood. I'm not feeling creative today in the captions area. If I do another update, it will contain the walkback photos More to come....? This ride has lap bars, but they are fixed, so riders have to slide under them. There are also seat belts Here's Ryan, armed with the dangerous top-of-the-height-checker-pole A train leaving the station After the lift is the signature double-dip The first drop is also down a ravine Like the Thunderbolt, the lift is in the middle of the ride And like everything else at Kennywood, it has history There's still another credit to get The Old Mill, now Garfield's Nightmare. I didn't get to experience this, though I probably should have On many log flumes, the people in front get the wettest Pedal Boats The SkyCoaster The Kangaroo was another ride that I missed out on. Maybe next time More historical stuff Unlike the Disk-o at Olympus, this one actually works More unusual theming The University of Florida is in Gainesville. The Gator Nation is everywhere (even at Kings Island, which is in the heart of Buckeye country) Theming on the rapids There's also a rapids ride I didn't get a chance to do these either. They look like a kiddie ride from pictures, but they speed along that track We didn't have enough time to do the Gold Rusher. Later that day we found out that it would be closing This is a credit under the Jeff Johnson system We didn't quite have enough for a complete takeover of the ride There's very few of these still operating, and many of them are the "kiddie" variant. Another historical ride. Yes, even Blackpool Pleasure Beach removed theirs
kennywood!007
Great photos from Kennywood! The Phantom line you guys had is ridiculous.
WillMontu
There are not going to be many "people shots" in this update, but there's only one more Kennywood update after this and then I can start on Stricker's High resolution versions are available on request To be continued....maybe No, Robb, you can't "go" in front of a moving coaster train! There's where we'll be having lunch They have a nice collection of hats. The Beatles one I'd go for, but I'm not so sure about the Steelers one. The signature double dip One wrong step and Robb could fall down the ravine This picture needs a caption. Laughing Sal wants you Behind the scenes on Jackrabbit Going into areas where no coaster enthusiast has gone before? This means walking across the train Going behind the scenes on Phantom Never before seen shot of Thunderbolt? Nerd shot T-Bolt's last drop I joined Robb and a few others on a photo walk-back opportunity around several of the coasters.
FLIPDUDE
YaaaY! Always awesome to see you continue your TR. Are those pics photoshopped? Because theyre extremly high qualkity and the colors are so vibrant!
Kennyweird
Absolutely awesome pictures of Kennywood. You've truly captured the essence of Kennywood, congrats. Speaking of Kennywood and the Phantom's Revenge, does anybody know if Morgan heart lines their track? I'd really like to know.
WillMontu
^ I have enhanced a lot of the images using Picasa The last Kennywood update I'm still looking for ways to make my TR's better. I find it discouraging to post a huge update, have one person (usually FLIPDUDE) respond (if even that), getting 50 or so hits, and the topic getting buried shortly after With nearly 2000 pictures in all, it's not easy to post everything and think of decent captions. I will be doing Europe this year and I do plan to take a large number of photos, but I don't plan to do a TR in the same way that I've done in the past, as it just doesn't seem to get appreciation. I may just upload everything to another site (such as Picasa) and just post a handful of pictures I will probably post Stricker's Grove, but the Kings Island segment is currently in the intensive care unit after riding Son of Beast one too many times. And I have to post a picture of the PeopleMover because it's awesome! Disney even went as far as printing FastPasses with Bryan's screen name on it ...with pictures of Bryan! I've noticed that I'm not getting very many hits, and it seems to be the same 2-3 people who ever reply to my posts. As a result, I'm going to take this TR in a new direction Unfortunately, he wasn't able to enjoy Kings Island Here's to Ron Toomer and Spidey Arrow Bus gains a member! Self explanatory Unfortunately, after lunch, we had to get going back to the buses Robb getting interviewed for KennyTV Lunch, for the ACEr in everyone The PR lady who was with us for much of the visit. Sorry, but I forgot her name. We had a nice view of Jackrabbit "Wood" But don't let Wes get a hold of it! The famous Kennywood Arrow Time for lunch
stingrock23
Thanks again for taking the time to post all of these. Our Arrow bus rocked, Spidey included. I know how long it can take to do an update plus captions, and I don't even post large TR's. I always enjoy your updates. It soulds like the better idea would be to just post some highlight pics here, and just download the rest to another site and put the link. Zen Coaster
Great update as always. Yeah, I'd save yourself some work and just post highlights with links to an online gallery. Hope to see KI soon.
FLIPDUDE
Bah. I hate seeing a topic with so much effort put into it go unappreciated and/or uncommented. I'm getting the same issue with the Robby Rob comics so they have hardly been updated much recently as well. Either way I would love to see more of your pics, weather theyre on picasa or on TPR. Liked the twist on the TR
NINCUB
Loved the pic of the first aid truck next to SOB. I will actually be there in a little over 2 weeks! Woo Hoo! Wish me luck! Maybe I will not have to see that truck!
WillMontu
Stricker's Grove During the visit to Kings Island, there was an optional side trip to Stricker's Grove. Considering the number of credits and the reputation at Kings Island, the initial assumption that those who went to Stricker's had to miss out on some of the credits at Kings Island. Surprisingly, Kings Island wasn't too crowded, and most of the group got the credits in before leaving for Stricker's. This will be the last "major" update to this TR. The station More will be on the way... The trains are different from other PTC trains, as the right side of the trains does not have openings. The Teddy Bear is a "kiddie woodie", built from the blueprints for the original Teddy Bear at Coney Island in Cincinnati The ride had some nice airtime in the back seat And here's the ride op "riding" the train as it dispatches. It appears that a crime was committed in the eighth row The station for Tornado. Note the lack of air gates Jow is ready to fly Random stuff under the station This is probably the longest line this ride has seen in a very long time Spinning ride of death? It does have two credits, both built by Stricker himself from blueprints of defunct rides The park is not very big At this park, "security" consists of a single state trooper ensuring that nobody takes the cash box. Ryan, it says "GMC", not "DMC", and it's not likely that it would reach 88 miles (with or without a flux capacitor) In other news, Ryan did get his Delorean to run, but the flux capacitor is still broken. It's usually only open for two days a year, for 4th of July and for "Family Days" During the rest of the year, it is rented out for private parties It's sort of out in the middle of nowhere, like a few other parks ...and of course, Sideboob! On the Arrow Bus, we had a nice view of corn... This could be a very difficult choice for Elissa. McDonalds or El Toro? It's not a good idea to leave the baby at Kings Island. FLIPDUDE
Great pics! However... "Nice airtime in the back"? That coaster had some Cyclops-esque airtime in the back car, without the age restriction. You would seriously go flying up into the buzz bars, or whatever that coaster had for restraitns, I forget. Max almost lost penguino on that thing (I'm sure Jahan would've been devestated). On one hand I am very saddened to see this TR come to an end, on the other hand I am glad that it made it this far So not much more to go, Will, just a couple more stricker's pics and PKI! That ride op riding the coaster train in tehastation like it was a skateboard was pretty awsome.
cinciDAWGS12
Thanks for these pics! I've always thought Stricker's Grove was a nice little park. All they need to do is be open all year round...Looking forward to the KI pics.
WillMontu
The final update for this TR I'd like to make my future TR's better, as I've been dissatisfied with the outcome of many of my recent TR's. What's good about my TR's? What's bad? Are people just losing interest? I have decided against posting a KI update because nobody appears to be interested and it's not worth the hassle. For the three people who do want KI pics, I have uploaded some of them here I'm going to finish here. And it's back to Kings Island Don't be late for the bus! They took a cue from Holiday World (or vice versa) Smokey Fun, but they didn't snap The guy on the left texting is the ride op. And of course, the Flyers Kiddie Whip Kiddie Turtle There's a few other rides to check out More TPR peeps, including Jow A few familiar faces in this train A few more shots of Tornado Some of the overgrowth on Teddy Bear
