trufflesnouter Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any detailed information on the new ultracoaster about to begin construction? You know the kind of thing, design drawings, CAD images, or just general info. I think it's being installed at Cedar Point but I may have that wrong. I know that it will be the first in the world to top 500 feet, and also the first of this breed of super tall coaster to feature an inversion. Just hoping you knowledgable folk out there can fill me in with more info!
trufflesnouter Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 And while I'm trying to garner information, can anyone out there fill me in on Alton Towers' long awaited wooden coaster, which has finally received planning permission? I know that they are restricted on the height they can go, because they are not permitted to build above the tree line, but it seems that the woodie will have an absolutely enormous footprint, and will be built on land never before used by the park for rides.
Wes Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 No one would have any info on these because at this point they are simply wild rumors.
trufflesnouter Posted August 1, 2007 Author Posted August 1, 2007 'Fraid not, dude. Both constructions have been reported by and confirmed by the RCCGB, and have also been reported by various news agencies.
Wes Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Cool, links to the articles from the "news agencies" please.
StealthFan Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Altons woodie has not received planning permission, they haven't even submitted new plans yet. The last I heard is that they would like it by next year and they are planning something along the lines of Megafobia, also John Wardley would be helping out with the design. Thats as far as its got.
UFAlien Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 I just went on the RCCGB site, and neither of them were even mentioned. Which is exactly what I expected. So, thanks for the invalid "source". May I direct you to our rumor superthread, where you can post about this ridiculous kind of stuff. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35614&highlight=rumor+superthread
trufflesnouter Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Wow, you guys are really behind with the news. Catch up people!
UFAlien Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 News? What news? All you've told us is a load of crap. EDIT: Just to humor you, I searched Google for Tailwind Ultracoaster. There were exactly 0 results. What a surprise .
trufflesnouter Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Such hostility! Don't take it out on others, just because you're not up to date with the latest coaster news. Construction has begun on both of these projects, so live with it. I know there is a negative reaction amongst some people to the perceived need to go ever higher with coaster construction, but I personally think that pushing the limits of human ability is something to be celebrated.
Xtremecoaster Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Any proof you have right on this?I looked on the so called RCCGB and didn`t found anything on the so called "Tailwind Ultracoaster"!
Xtremecoaster Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 ^What?I just told him to get some proof of what he means!
Airtime&Gravity Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Yeah, so your telling us after shelling out twenty-one million dollars on Maverick, CP just decided to waste a lot of money on a mediocre coaster? Sorry, but that is one of the most ridiculously thing I've read here, and how could construction have started when no markers, land clearing, permits, or anything and not show up here? Well, I could be wrong though since Theme Park Review, the world's largest enthusiast site, could possibly be late on a massive coaster project. If you could offer any proof that anything was going on, then we would listen to you, but when you say "crap is getting crap" without any proof, then we will not listen to you. As for the Alton Towers wooden coaster, that has been rumored for several years, and while planned to be finally built in 08, I think it is on hold again.
UFAlien Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I don't know why we even bother. This is obviously just some internet troll. But Still: Cedar Point's News Page: NOTHING! http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/news.cfm Google search for Tailwind ultracoaster: ZERO RESULTS! http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Tailwind+Ultracoaster&btnG=Google+Search Screamscape's Cedar Point Page: ZIP! http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.htm Screamscape's Alton Towers page: ZILCH! http://www.screamscape.com/html/alton_towers.htm As I've just displayed, it's not too hard to post a link here, so if you actually have any proof, it would be easy enough to show us. If you say it was only in PRINTED news, than that's just bull. You should know just about every newspaper has a website covering their stories. Everyone here has noticed that you dodge questions, do not provide any sources, and blame us for "not keeping up on the latest news."
rbpia Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I think he is right about Cedar Point. I bet they will make the big announcement when the TPR crew arrives next week. I have a vision of Dick Kinzel, Tony, and Tyler doing a special Broadway like musical announcement ending with Elissa on top of a scale model of the 500 foot aquatrax! Ron "Can't wait to see what Wes has to say when he closes this thread!" Patton

Vekoma Fan Boy Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Alright, calm down. I'm reasonebly sure we've scared him away!
coaster1 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Where's the proof of construction? Have photos of piers being poured, steel on site .. granted .. proof that they are for a ride and not a new hot dog stand or dippin' dots location.
