coreyml
no, they charge you $2 for every hour after 3 hours and you have to do this at scorcher, goliath and soon cyclone either you do smart riding or itll cost you a min of $6 more to go to the park (if you carry stuff)
ParkTrips
dude you left early, when I got there... a kid was riding with one of those giant lolipops. Doug got a photo of it, and I hope he uploads it... such a choke hazard (among other dangers). I finished my smoothie before I could attempt to consume it on Cyclone =(
helix
Hours 1-3 = $2 total spent $2 Hour 4 $2 = total spent $4 Hour 5 $2 = total spent $6 Hour 6 $2 = total spent $8 Provided you take your stuff out of the locker before the three hours is up, then you have only spent $2. You can ride as many rides as you want for three hours. Your per hour cost is .67 for the first three hours.

Thee ops seemed to have plenty of "energy" while enforcing the "no loose articles" rule; if only they could have used that "energy" while checking the lap bars! The crew was pretty bad today. Someone mentioned earlier about people leaving stuff on the pathways instead of putting their stuff in their locker. A bunch of people in my group did that...after dealing with the locker nazi, of course. They really need to do something about the lockers...no one likes them. I saw tons of people turnng aroung and leaving Goliath/Scorcher because they had loose articles and did not want to pay.

rollocoast
but you require so many random objects with you at a park, too many to put into cargo shorts that you NEED to bring some kind of back pack, then you pay $2 if you want to ride Goliath and you don't have anyone to leave your bag with while you ride. I don't see an issue with that. Am I the ONLY one? --Robb "I seriously do not understand why people NEED to bring a back pack to a park..." Alvey I think the reason so many people are annoyed by this is because it's an obvious money-making scheme. As others have said in the beginning of the thread, Cedar Point did this for YEARS and noone complained. Why the double standard?
willski
^Because you have to have lockers or something on rides with separate load-unload stations (MF and TTD). SFoG doesn't have to do this, they're doing it only to make money and it's a pain in the ass.
Airtime&Gravity
I still don't get this concept: 1. I know other parks have lockers, but the lockers opened with the attractions to my knowledge. Now if the lockers showing up at SF parks have been there as long as the ride they are there for have been there, then I wouldn't complain. I also wouldn't complain as much if the lockers opened with the park for the 07 season, but opening lockers this late in the season seems like an attempt to make some easy money. 2. Why is there such a limited time use for the lockers? I don't have a problem with a one time fee, but charging two dollars for every hour after the first three seems excessive. Hell, why is the park charging for something they are forcing the riders to use? Now I have nothing wrong with the fact that there are lockers. However, I think the park should focus on kicking people out of the park for line jumping or those who are smoking outside of the smoking areas rather than putting so much effort on this. coreyml
what made us all mad was that the park claimed this was to increase capacity/better load times well we all know loose articles are not the problem its b/c their employees SUCK if you are a sfog employee on here, you know how bad 95% of u suck i like doug's idea earlier this year - have people walk around w/ fly swatters and keep people in line the old fashioned way or pull a switch from the bushes out back
trcg721
I think a no loose articles should be allowed unless its a plastic or paper cup that can be tossed away before you get on the train so you would have something to keep your self hydrated. The reason why I think a no loose articles will help is because there are so many time where I could be checking the harness, but I have to wait for the person to be seated. When a guest forgets something in their pockets, it makes us take longer to check the harnesses because we would have to wait for the guest to get off and put their stuff on the side, then get back on the train. I would like to hear from other ride operators and the opinions about no loose articles. Also, I think they should charge 1.50 for the first 3 hours and then charge 5 for anything after the first 3 hours.

matttty
I don't know if this was mentioned becuase I got up to page 3 and was to lazy to read the rest, but Nitro at Great Adventure has the best locker system I have ever seen. As you board the train they have lockers on both sides of the exit gate and three different colors yellow, blue, purple. The lockers that your supposed to put your stuff in light green and then when your train is locked and sent off the lockers lock so the next train cannot open your locker and steal your stuff. And the best part is THERE FREE! The only ride that you need to buy a locker for is Kingda Ka, everything else has cubbys or you can just leave it there. Superman Ride Of Steel at SFA also has the same policy as Goliath at SFOG. When I went they made you leave it with someone or get a locker even though it was one train operation and absolutely no one on line. Firehawk at Kings Island also made you get a locker but they were only 75cents. And the only ride that made you take a bag on with you was Flight Of fear. Busch Gardens also does not let you take a bag on Griffon or Alpengeist, you must get a locker but for Griffon you kind of have to because the station is really small and not enough room for bags and people to exit. Having this policy will prevent alot less then problems then without it. You don't have to worry about people sneaking stuff on the ride or having someone stuff getting stolen. ghost007jas
If you think about it, Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster have a similar policie. Therefore forcing you to use the lockers or leave loose articles with a non-riding member of your party. I find it funny how there is a whole thread about this when the exact same thing is being done at Cedar Point, not surprising, but funny.

You don't have to worry about people sneaking stuff on the ride or having someone stuff getting stolen. ...or the employees could just stop sucking and everything would be okay. They are all beyond lazy and sit arond and chat for a long time before restraints are checked. Also, if that microphone in the station was used for a better purpose...such as saying you can't wear flip flops...rather than people singing If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands...then rows would not have to be unlocked for people to take their flip flops off. Last year the crew was 50x better dispatching every train before the other hit the brake run. This year there are less of a certain type of people...so thats why things have slowed way down....but I will keep it to myself.

helix
yes but u can use em all day. but remember, they only have lockers on rides that have trains unload in a different station. Goliath doesnt need this I think everyone's point is that Cedar Point has the same policy on two of their coasters and they charge for the service. Six Flags has the same policy on Goliath, Superman and Wild One and are charging for the service. Why the double standard. It doesn't matter if Millennium Force and TTD load and unload in two different stations. The fact of the matter is, Cedar Point could provide the lockers for free as could SF, but for whatever the reason they are charging for them, as does BGE and from what I'm reading on another site SWT on Steel Eel and Great White. If you ask me, it's a bigger crime that BGE and SWT are charging for them since they are backed by major corporations. SF and CP aren't.
Jonathan
If you ask me, it's a bigger crime that BGE and SWT are charging for them since they are backed by major corporations. SF and CP aren't. That doesn't make any sense at all. Six Flags and Cedar Fair are both major corporations. Anyway, as for the double standard, alright here you go: The two times I have been up to Cedar Point, I was frustrated by the locker policy on some rides. Luckily they only cost a fraction of what Six Flags is charging, but nonetheless I did not like it. Last I checked, Carowinds does not allow loose articles on Borg, and they will give you a free locker near the ride if you have any bags.
