kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I just got home from Dollywood! I had a great time! There is some major constuction you can see from the train from the back side of Mystery Mine all the way to Tennessee Tornado! And across the railroad tracks. Could this be the link between the valleys I think so! Its a huge amount of land cleared so i'm thinking there will be another huge attraction for Dollywood! I have some pics not that great because my camera wasn't liking me. Well heres the pictures! Shot of Tennessee Tornado! Some tornado pictures. This is the largest area cleared you cant see it very well in this picture becouse im on the wrong side of the train! Big construction equipment! More construction site dirt! YES DIRT! Construction site behind Mystery Mine it almost reaches Tornado! Thats the train. This sign on Thunderhead is new!
coasterdude5 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Here's a shot that I got on June 12th: It's hard to make out, but there's alot going on behind Mystery Mine.
kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 I have some better ones than that. This a ton of cleared land the train you where surounded by forests and now in places its opened up to cleared land. No AQUATRAX for Dollywood its to nice of a parks its not Cedar Point!
coasterdude5 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 The engineer of the train told us they are packing in tons of dirt to level out the area, and that they will be connecting the walkway next year. Â He also said something about a "gondola ride", I can only think he's talking about a chairlift but it could be something else.
kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 I hope for a new large ride they have been getting one every year so why not continue the tradition! I asked the guy on are tram leaving the park and he said it was going to be a pretty big addition!
coasterdude5 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 It'll be interesting to see what the walkway looks like. Â The only bad thing - it'll bring alot of traffic to Tennessee Tornado, which is bad because this year hardly anyone goes all the way back there, so lines were minimal each day. Â I like how it's secluded back in the woods but it looks like that's gonna change.
Shavethewhales Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 ^Have no fear, the Hershends are masters of keeping trees in place, even with new pathways; just look at the Wilson's Farm area of SDC. However, they are clearing out more than normal... or were there just never trees in the areas shown in the pics? Â He also said something about a "gondola ride", I can only think he's talking about a chairlift but it could be something else. Â Eh, well, loads of rides use gondolas. I'm still putting my bets on them getting a screamin' swing.
kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 ^^ It used to be a lush forest as of April THIS YEAR! I think its horible they took so many trees it wont have that always been here feel! Tornado had a 45 minute wait while Thunderhead was at 5-15 all day! Didnt feel like riding Mystery Mine I didnt even go see what the wait was. Timber Tower is still closed but who really cares!
kennywood!007 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 A giant swing would fit well in Dollywood. It's a great ride, won't disappoint. Plus I'm sure they could do a very well themed one.
coasterdude5 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 ^ I agree, I just hope they can find another theme other than the farm theme. It really doesn't represent what Dollywood is about. You don't really think farming when you think of the Smoky Mountains. Yeah, I know there is farming there, but it's not one of the main focuses.
gnewton34 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 ^^They should totally start naming stuff after Dolly songs, a swing called The Swing of Many Colors or Here You Come Again, a rapids ride called Islands in the Stream, dueling coasters with trains called Dolly and Jolene. Yeah I'm kidding well...kinda  Look over me, I get weird when I stay up late.
USRoadTripper Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 The engineer of the train told us... Â I asked the guy on are tram... Â What, no one thought to ask the Dippin' Dots guy?? Â And hopefully Dolly knows better than to go with an extensive farming theme...our state song even talks about how hard farming is in the Smokies! Â -Julie
coasterdude5 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 ^ You're right, except he was on his cellphone, (no lie), so I didn't want to disturb him...
Loco Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Ooooh a Screamin' Swing would be awesome...Possibly a log cabin theme? (like Kennywood!007 said above)
kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 Im excited to see what it is but the land thats cleared could fit many screaming swings with room inbetween! I hope for another roller coaster maybe not in 08 but in 09 a B&M would be awsome!
IwantRevenge Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 AQUATRAX!!!!  lol  Hasn't dollywood been rumored to be getting Screamin' Swing.
BeemerBoy Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Sally dark ride. Rednecks and guns....can't lose proposition for the park. Â EDIT: And one thing's for certain. This will be the greatest walkway in the history of walkways.
Airtime&Gravity Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 ^lol  Wait, I thought they were going to build a 500ft tall, 12 inversion PAX coaster.  Well I have heard of a dark ride going to Dollywood, and hopefully they can give it a cool concept and theme instead of just the typical shoot the ghosts.
kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 You guy have to see how big of an area thats cleared the only reason I really expect a coaster is that land is cleared on both sides of the train tracks and it looks like the amount of space of a good size coaster.
b&mforever Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 The last time i saw land clear out like that it was for a B&M. I wonder if we may see one of those.
kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 Thats what I hope for! You can see where the path is going to be its on the edge of the construction zone so theres going to be an attraction of some sort.
