Disney Trivia

Recommended Posts

I think this is a trick question. I can't find anything there that goes faster than California Screamin' so my answer is Soarin' Over California...as you're supposed to be flying.

When they opened Disneyland in 1955, they were running behind. What did they do the night before opening that allowed the first guests to leave behind, shall we say...an impression?

What was Walts motivation and inspiration for POTC?

This was a hard one so I'll post the link since it's such a interesting bit of trivia (good read too btw):

In the 1960s, Knott's Berry Farm added two pioneering rides: Timber Mountain, an early log flume ride, and Calico Mine, a "dark ride" in industry parlance that toured a gold mine. Its design—narrow shafts opening onto large decorated caverns—would inspire later Disneyland attractions.

"You never wanted to copy what the other guy was doing," says Ed Feuer, a former Disneyland engineer who helped build many of the park's early attractions and now runs his own design company, Ride & Show Engineering. "But when Knott's came out with the log ride, we said to ourselves, 'Darn, why didn't we think of that?' "

What Disney did think of was Pirates of the Caribbean, which opened in 1967 and shook the industry like a cannon shot.

Song of the South.

Their Names are Gus, Erza and Phineas.

Both Expedition Everest (from the top of the mountain) and Tower of Terror (from the top of the building) are 199ft tall, why?

Because the FAA restricted them from building anything taller than that?

Just a guess.

If it were any taller, they'd have to put red lights on top and that would be ugly!

How about this:

what is the special effect used in the Haunted Mansion's portrait scene? (How do they go up?)

They go up (at Disneyland) when the elevator goes underground.

Which attraction opened in 1967 with the new Tomorrowland, shrunk you down to the size of an atom, and was closed to make room for Star Tour?

The answer to the fastest ride at Disneyland is the Monorail it has a maximum speed of 75 mph (when it is being towed).

I'd really like to see a source on that. I know the Disneyland and Disney World Monorails are a little different, but I used to work in Monorails at Disney World and the only thing that will go on the monorail track is a monorail, so I don't know how anything would be towed. The max speed of the monorails at Disney World is 55 MPH. The max speed they are driven is at 35 MPH. They have very strict rules as to how fast they are driven. What is your source for this information? I did some research myself and couldn't find anything to support it.

^ No actually it replaced Rainbow Caverns Mine Train which with the stage coach and a few other animal powered attractions in the area were turned into Mine Trains Through Nature's Wonderland.

You most likely mean Phantom Boats, but the Motor Boat Cruise was a similar attraction in that same area.

What was the original name of the bear who snored at the first drop of Disneyland's Splash Mountain?

I apologize about that I double checked my sources and you were correct!
