MEMPHIS - FedEx announced plans today to fund a multi-million dollar themepark complex in Memphis to honor the city and its roots in music and other venues.

The park is being designed by top-of-the-line professionals who also designed parks like Islands of Adventure and Hard Rock Park. The design stage has been completed, and with construction beginning soon, the park should be open by 2008.

THE ATTRACTIONS

Rock n' Soul Memphis will be subdivided into three sections: Beale Street, Libertyland, and Bluff Ridge.

Beale Street

Beale Street will be a close replication of the world-famous street in downtown Memphis - the area will be home to Pedal to the Metal - a launched steel rollercoaster that will be completely indoors. The area will also be home to several concert venues that will rotate Memphis locals for the chance to be introduced to a new artist.

Libertyland

Featuring ZIPPIN PIPPIN, the classic, the Libertyland area will remember the amusement park that shut down in late 2005. The area will also hold the classsic Grand Carousel that was also at the park.

Bluff Ridge

The River Delta will feature a slew of Memphis related attractions like the Hustle and Flow floorless coaster, and several other thrill-ride attractions, including a water attraction. Honoring the food of the city, Bluff Ridge will also feature some of the best and most upscale restaurants in the park.

"The park will be one of a kind," Howard Newsome, Park GM stated," where else will you be able to experience the theme and life of a city like Memphis?"

FedEx will become the official sponsor of the park and is obviously in control of all construction shipments.

Hey, I'm your average dude from Memphis, I have an interest in coasters though. It looks like they're building a great theme park at my back door.

The entrance to the Rock n' Soul Memphis. Don't look half bad.

They got lights shining all over the place.

What I really came here for, Zippin Pippin. From the long gone Libertyland.

It's been too long.

It seems like they're coming along.

I'll be checkin back soon.

It seems you are going to create it the same way you created Hawaiian Escape,I can`t wait for June 15th!

How similar is the rest of the park to that screenshot? I think I like the style your going with better then Hawaiian Escape's style. And who is building Pedal to the Metal?

^ That's just the riverfront/Beale Street area, the whole park is not like that. I'm looking at dividing the park into these sections:

Beale Street - entrance plaza, main street

County Fair - flat rides, etc.

River Delta - concerts and stages

Liberty Landing - Zippin Pippin area
