Tanks4me05 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Well, about a week ago I came back from Florida, and I went to Boomers, Rapids Waterpark, Cypress Gardens, Busch Gardens Africa, and Adventure Island. I have pictures from each park, and I will have videos from each park that are already finished, but will be uploaded within a week. Anyway, on to the pics! Park 1: Boomers Credit #62 and counting. Let's hope this and Blender don't close down on me like they did last year. That was a disaster. Closed. It is not broken, but the ride op that runs it isn't here. Another ride op in the Family Ride Area was certified to run it, but he didn't know how to. Dania Beach Hurricane... OVER THE BUILDING!!! Dania Beach Hurricane+Front Seat=my #3 wooden coaster. The sign of Floridian awesomeness. At least this is running. I think this ride is highly photogenic, and has some pretty good airtime. Here, the ride section may look pretty nice, which it is, however, the Go Kart section across the street was kind of run down. Grrrrrr, I'm a 100 foot tall Wooden Coaster that makes people go WEEEEEEEEE with airtime! Gimme some candy! See what I mean by run down? The Go Kart track was huge, and awesome, though. Another shot of the big Go Kart track. I think the Go Karts are on a bigger land plot than the coaster. Awesome picture. EXTREME CLOSE UP!!!!!!1!!!!!11!!!three!!!!! Dania Beach Hurricane... THROUGH THE TREES!!! Awesome semi sihlouette shot. The worst part of the ride, the brake run. Why? Because it's the end of the ride. Dania Beach Hurricane... THROUGH THE SUPPORTS! Dania Beach Hurricane... THROUGH THE STATION! Awesome fountain shot. Still closed. Random Swing Ride. Here are the rest of the flat rides in the park. Yeah, not a lot, but they have Dania Beach Hurricane. Ride op hasn't arrived yet. Well, this trip wasn't a total disaster, DBH was open. Random Bumper Boats that I never knew were there before. Airtime! It's all big and stuff. This is just plain big. Dania Beach Hurricane... THROUGH MORE TREES! NOOOOOO!!!!! THE TREES ARE EATING DBH!!!!! Closed Blender... THROUGH THE TREES! Here's another DBH shot for all of you. Here's another shot. FINALLY, it's open! Random Mini Golf picture. The following on ride photos were taken with permission from the Ride Operations manager of Boomers, who happened to be operating DBH that day, and said I could bring my Cameras on ride when he saw me using them. Here we go! Going up the lift, we see the awesomeness that awaits! Awesomeness... THROUGH THE TREES! (I'm abusing that caption, aren't I?) "Alllmost there... alllmost there..." This picture is so awesome, I don't even have to bother with captions. But for some reason, I feel the need to keep posting a caption, no matter how pointless or random. Pudding. (See what I mean about random?) This is probably my favorite picture I took of DBH. Dude, this ride pwns! Zoom Zoom! DBH... THROUGH THE SUPPORTS! First drop awesomeness. I love sihlouette shots! Semi Sihlouette shots are awesome, too. Through the supports... again. Best... Billboard... ever! Sigh... time to leave. Bye, DBH! I'll miss you! Your awesome airitmeness gave me happiness! *Runs out of caption ideas* MONKEYS! Ummm... This ride pwns. Up next, Rapids Waterpark!
PKI Jizzman Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Wow, DBHurricane looks good, but damn, must have been running good for you that day.
thefitness Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Awesome I love DBH! I'm excited to see you Rapids WaterPark pictures (If you have any) I've been wanting to go to that water park!
Tanks4me05 Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 ^ I said I have pictures and a video for each park, including Rapids and Adventure Island. But I only have about 13 pictures for Rapids (I'll email you the pics from last year if you want, I have about 60, the slide complex that's opening this summer only has a lot of dirt and some support structures built, so last year's pics aren't much different) Anyways, on to the pics of Rapids! PS: DBH was running really good, but not insane. It was really fun, but it still had quite a ways to go to beat Lightning Racer, let alone TGE's Comet (the other wooden coasters that are higher on my top 10 wooden coaster list) I just had to think of a way to get to 60+ captions. Welcome to Rapids! Home of the best Proslide Tornado I know of: Big Thunder! Here is another view of Big Thunder, that big Blue and Yellow Behemoth. Those are the pieces for their new slide complex. What slides they are getting, I have no idea, but it looks like they ae getting about six new slides. For such a little known park, it's actually pretty nice, and the slides are really fun. Here are some more slide pieces, and a random Trolley. Still some more slide pieces. NIIICOLAAAH! Airtime... on a water slide... you don't see that every day. This thing really is huge! Here is the reason why Big Thunder is the best Proslide Tornado: It has about a hundred feet of tubing or so after the Funnel. Yellow Slide= Pirate's Plunge (I can't remember which, but it's the one with the helix of death) Blue slide= Baby Blue, with the Toilet Bowl of death Green Slide=don't care. Here is the final drop of Pirate's Plunge, which is probably about 40 feet, (the slide itself totals at probably around 90 feet or higher, it is HUGE!) Some random trees. Next up: Cypress Gardens!
coastercrazed49 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Nice Trip Report. Dania Beach Hurricane looks so much fun, I went by it on the way to my cruise but I didn't have time to stop sadly.
obeygiant Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Nice photos! Dania Beach Hurricane is only like 20 min. from my house...and it is definately one of the best wooden coasters I've been on! Boomers is alittle run down, but the Hurricane and go carts alone are worth it... Don't bother with the Blender...it's either closed down or it takes literally 2 hours to get on..especially on a busy night
thrillrideseeker Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 WOW! Looks great! I hope you had fun! Great TR! Oh and you said that the Sky Scraper ride was finally open "FINALLY, it's open!"... did you ride it? ~Matthew
Tanks4me05 Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 I did ride, and it didn't take me two hours to get on, more like five minutes, unless you count the 5 hours I was there as a wait. It was awesome, to say the least. This was one of only two rides that I was scared of going on in the last three years (the other one was Big Thunder at Rapids from last year) and it was unbelievable. If only DP kept theirs, its much better than Screamin' Swing, in my opinion. At least they are getting Steel Venom. I'll post the Cypress Gardens pictures this weekend.
thefitness Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Cool! I've only seen Rapids from the road, It looks even better up close.
Tanks4me05 Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 Ok, I finally got around to posting the pics for Cypress Gardens, I didn't know that Photobucket automatically saved the photos you uploaded into the album, which saved a lot of time. Welcome to Cypress Gardens! There's the Flying Island Thing. Obligatory (but old) Starliner Construction shot. Okeechobee Rampage was surprisingly forceful, and all the coasters at the park except for Galaxy Spin ran the circuit twice. Open, now. Once again, I was surprised that this ride is forceful. Some floater airtime on the hills, and the turns were pretty forceful, too. The turn of forcefulness. The only thing that this one has over Seabreeze's Yo Yo is that it tilts. Galaxy Spin... THROUGH THE TREES! Grrrrrrr! I'm angry Yo Yo! Gimme some candy! Yep, this ride is cool. Is this a Dan approved water ride? I'm not sad and pathetic. Galaxy Spin... THROUGH THE SUPPORTS! Mega Bounce=Painful. Pharaoh's Fury= Boring. Swamp Thing= Painful and boring. Yeah, welcome to Cypress Gardens. The Drop Tower was the surprise of the trip. I thought it was going to be like MFI's Drop Tower (which wasn't bad, but not the best) but this thing was INSANE! Especially when you looked down as it dropped. The Drop Tower rules! This ride has an unbelievable amount of airtime! Blurry Tilt - A - Whirl shot. Galaxy Spin... EXTREME CLOSE UP! Some random rides. Some more random rides. My first Disk - O. Sigh, Power Surge is closed. This is one fun ride! Ferris Wheel... THROUGH THE TREES! A clearer Tilt - A - Whirl shot. Even more of some random rides. You do not see many Double Deck Carousels that often. Inverter... EXTREME CLOSE UP! An overview of some of the park from Flying Island. An overview of the rest of the park from the Flying Island. Next up, Busch Gardens Africa!
thrillrideseeker Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 WOW! This TR keeps getting better and better! You are doing great! You have some really great pictures!!! I can not wait to see what is next!!! Thanks for posting all these amazing pictures!! ~Matthew
Shavethewhales Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Dude, Flying Islands are so awesome! I wonder if they're still made anymore? You'd think more parks would digg thesel you've gotta admit - they look like impressive feats of engineering.
Tanks4me05 Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 The Busch Gardens Africa pictures are finally up! Montu, the best B&M ever! If you look hard, you can see Kumba. If you look really hard, you can see Montu. If you look really really hard, you can see Gwazi. SheiKra... AT SUNSET! SheiKra... AT SUNSET... AGAIN! SheiKra... AT SUNSET... AGAIN... AGAIN! See what I mean by Montu being so awesome? This thing pulls amazing G's all over the place! This is my favorite picture in the entire PTR. Why? Because there is a Tuba in the pic. Yes, I play the Tuba, and the Tuba is superior to all other instruments! LONG LIVE THE TUBA! Grrrr! I'm angry Tiger! Gimme some candy! Montu... THROUGH THE TREES! The most photogenic element of Montu, the Immelmann. See? Montu... THROUGH THE SUPPORTS! Semi sihlouette shot Another semi sihlouette shot. Three Semi Sihlouette shots in a row. That's the Immelmann again. My favorite element of the ride, the Batwing! For some reason, it looks like I'm going to fall backwards. The Immelmann... THROUGH THE TREES! Hi Wes. Kill! Kill! Montu... THROUGH THE TREES! The Monkeys have returned! (Reference to an unreleased segment of last year's DVD) Monkeys! (Technically a Lemur) Monkey eating Lettuce. Monkey eating Lettuce again. If I were that Monkey, I would be tired of eating Lettuce. Montu is better. But the Immelmann was fun. Montu... OVER THE TREES! Montu... OVER THE TREES... EXTREME CLOSE UP! My favorite picture of the entire trip. It was closed for most of the morning, and opened in the afternoon, and despite the nearing hour long wait, it was worth it. Hi Derek. SheiKra and Sandstorm. The "Orbiter" style ride at the NY State Fair was although unthemed, much better than this one. I know there were air battles over Africa in WWII, but the plane ride seemed really out of place in the park. The Frenzoid, on the other hand, fit perfectly. Hershey's Wild Mouse is way better than this one. This ride was trimmed like crazy. Gwazi Lion was closed, but Tiger was much smoother than I expected, and is now my #5 wooden coaster. That's Phoenix, my first Frenzoid. I didn't know that was there. Read on to read a caption so amazing, so unbelievable, that you will want to read on to read the rest of this caption. The caption of this photo is... SheiKra and Scorpion. There's something about Busch Gardens Africa and photogenic Immelmanns. SheiKra... THROUGH THE TREES AND A SEMI SIHLOUETTE SHOT! There's the Fan Turn. This ride always created the illusion of looking 130 feet tall, not 200 feet tall. I'm on a train, taking a picture of a train. I don't know why this ride is underrated. It's just like a mini Laser, but with AIRTIME at the top of the loop. Random Log Flume shot. Another Montu shot. Random Zebra, and Montu again. Kumba... THROUGH THE TREES! Kumba's Cobra Roll. (Yes, best caption ever, I know) I think that's the Cobra Roll. SheiKra, the Log Flume, and Python could have been in this picture, but instead, its SheiKra, the Log Flume, and an Excavator. This is a bit better. Those people on top of the Immelmann are experiencing a moment of airtime. The Spaghetti Knot picture of SheiKra. The Fan Turn again. The drop is big, but it doesn't produce much airtime. There's the ending helix. They could have done more with the layout, like adding another helix there, but this ride is expensive. The Fan Turn with a building under it. Gwazi... UNDER SHEIKRA! This ride looks awesome! A train dropping... EXTREME CLOSE UP! The Spaghetti Knot section... EXTREME CLOSE UP! Robb, I would appreciate if you would not ban me again since I mentioned Knott's. Lion is closed. But Tiger was running, and it was awesome! That's all of the Busch Gardens Africa pictures. Next up, the last set of pictures: Adventure Island.
Tanks4me05 Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 This is the last set of pictures, Adventure Island. The last park of the trip, Adventure Island. The park was really nice, but this speed slide needed a steeper drop. This slide was fun. The first of its kind I ever saw. This photo is also one of my favorites. Why? Because the white slide is called Aruba TUBA. In fact, Aruba Tuba is worth to be shown twice in a row. Like I said, the park was really nice. This "Tub Slide" was really weird, but it broke down while I was in line, so I didn't go on it. I should have, because it looks really fun. Interesting canyon theming. This is probably the largest slide in the park, but I didn't go on it, because I wasn't really happy that day for some reason. The "Diving Slides" as I call them. The weird Speed Slide again. Another Aruba Tuba shot. Caribbean Corkscrew is my favorite slide at the park. I should have gone on these, they looked like a clone of Seabreeze's former Wipeout slides, which were insane. Why does this look like a Japanese park? Looking up at Riptide. There's Calypso Coaster, but I like this pic because Aruba Tuba is in it. The giant bucket didn't create one large splash, but multiple smaller splashes every few seconds. I don't know what this slide is. No more photos, but I'll start uploading the videos within a few days.
kennywood!007 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Awesome looking water park!! You've never seen those corkscrew slides before? A lot of water parks have them..
Tanks4me05 Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 I've seen plenty of pictures, but never in person before. There aren't any around my area.
alpengeist04 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Great job on the PTR. I always love seeing my third favorite park, BGA. ...and my third favorite steel coaster, Montu.
stuart888 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Great job on the photos, especially while riding. Going to start doing that myself. It really gives you a feel for the ride. Thanks for putting these up. Regards, Stuart
