One problem: theres no lake under Beast anymore..Unless their putting it back Either way, there goes my Diamondback theory...maybe.

I'm happy either way though. I just love how their making a hyper/terrain when we already have SoB and Beast.

I think they are referring to Swan Lake "in front of the Beast", not the small bit of murky water that once was near the station.

Awww, thats where I was projecting the accellorator. I really don't see how this rumor could be true though. We already have a terrain (Beast) and a hyper thats taller (Son of Beast) I don't see why they'd want to combine the two, rather than get something the park doesnt have (IE an accellorator or floorless)

Incorrect? From the image that they posted...(see below) I think they are referring to the one by all the trees, not swan lake infront of LaRosa's and Beast....They said it would be an L shape, but I just kinda doodled.

No! A hyper coaster is exactly what Kings Island needs. B&M hypers give a *very* different ride experience than SOB does. Kings Island has nothing like this, and is in DESPERATE need of a marquee attraction.

LOL! I'll have to agree on hypers giving a different ride than SOB. People at KI will get off this new ride and be like..."WOW....almost everything else here does suck! That was a really GOOD ride! I wasn't hurt...and I don't have a headache....but it made my stomach feel like it was in my throat...that was AWESOME!" And get back inline.

I saw the layout in first drop today (just a 2d overview)...looks like the lift will parallel TR:TR and the coaster does in fact go over a lake...pretty sure the swan lake to be exact...not the other one. From the looks of it I wouldn't be surprised to see the Griffon/Sheikra water scoops used on it...but that's just my opinion! To give you an idea of how far back the coaster will go...I have been told that the beast's helix is about half way on the "out" portion of the ride.

I thought it was bad how many suspended and kiddie coasters we had. Now we're going for lots of hypers too? The think KI needs is VARIATION, not more of the same...

Not sure where you're getting this. Have you even been on a B&M hyper? They're insanely smooth floater airtime machines. Are there any airtime machines in Kings Island right now? No. Are there any glass smooth steelies? No. SOB is ***NOTHING*** like a B&M hyper. Just because they're both over 200 feet means very, very little.

If Kings Island builds a B&M hyper, it will be the best coaster in the park. I'd trade everything they have in the park now for it actually.

I havent been on any B&M Hypers yet, but I've braved some of their Inverts, flyers, and stand ups. I'm actually not impressed. Vortex has some beutiful floater off the big drop, its just a bit rough. If your getting at a smooth air-filled ride, I say Intamin all the way....

Anyways, the point I'm getting at is that we'll be getting a new variation of the same thing, as opposed to a type of ride the park doesn't have yet...Plus people will still see SoB as the "biggest ride", reguardless of how crappy it is.

^ yeah.... Until you've been on a B&M Hyper, you can't understand. Even comparing vortex to anything B&M has built is almost laughable at best. Besides, even if you like Vortex, that was the largest steel coaster installed at KI. It was premiered in 1987!!! It's time for a new, GOOD steel coaster, NOT geared towards families or children.

*sighs* You guys aren't really getting my point, are you?

Regaurdless of quality, we already have the propossed coaster in the form of the park's 2 key attractions. Combining them into a next gen ride will kill the legacy of Kings Island's "legendary" coasters. I'm all for a B&M. I just dont think a hyper would be the right kind, and I'd prefer an Intamin hyper to one of B&M's....

Great news about KI getting a B&M Hyper, it will work well within the forest to hide the course like "Beast". Nice layout.

I'll have to pay a visit to the park in a few years time to test it out.

"Screechin' Eagle" was very popular when it was running (I could of ridden it when I visited KI in 2000, I did not know about the park then) and in the top 20 coasters for a few years.

Seems like the owner of LeSourdsville Lake Amusement Park is making sure the "Eagle" never gives rides again and have the coaster as timber wood for a bonfire.

KI could offer a few millions $$$ to buy it from LeSourdsville Lake Amusement Park, get it re-tracked, restore the cars and replace some of the structure. Be good as new and everyone would be happy to have the "Eagle" back..

I'm sure the owner would want to sell it to "KI" and become a millionaire. Any updated pictures on how the "Eagle" looks today...

You say you're not impressed with B&M, and then you list a B&M in your top 5.

As for a "variation of the same thing", I can't agree with that. The only thing a hyper and SOB have in common is that they're over 200 feet. That's it. And this proposed B&M is actually taller than SOB. It just has a slightly shorter drop.

I think we all know why US parks are hesitant to install Intamin hypers. And look at what Six Flags had to do to the restraints on the S:ROS coasters. Nothing says uncomfortable ride like having a steel bar shoved right into your shins.

Anyway, this is going to be the best ride at Kings Island. A real capacity machine because they only have to check the lapbar, no stupid seat belts to worry about. The crowds are going to love it.

*sighs* You guys aren't really getting my point, are you?

Well that's because you don't really have a strong point.

This ride is going to be an overwhelming success, if they do it. Look at how popular Firehawk was this year. Imagine how the massive crowds that KI brings in are going to react to a world class ride.

Yeah, and a hyper would be a new thing for KI to claim in the Ohio region. As Ginzo said, it'd be a capacity machine, having 2-3 trains that hold nearly 28 people. The only thing that gets close to that is the Beast, but again, they double check lap bars and the belts. B&M doesn't use seatbelts for sit down hypers? Just the clam shell? Oh well, I'm really anitcipationg next season to start to look for signs of a new project. I'm just hoping it will have a good name.

Top Gun made it to my 5 because it was one of the highlights of my Carowinds journey, and it was my 100th credit. I gave it credit mostly for that.

Now, I'm not saying I'm anti-B&M. Just that I highly prefer Intamin to them. This is how I think of it:

Arrow: Good coasters, but they get a bit rough...Tenessee Tornado was actually pretty good!

Vekoma: Painful, but their flyers are MUCH better than B&M's.

B&M: Inverts are their strongpoint from what I've gone on, though I havent ridden a hyper, dive machine, or Floorless yet. B&M's are reliable, but a bit rough and forceless for the most part, but their are exceptions.

Intamin: Unreliable, but FUN! Once their bugs are worked out, they tend to become key attractions.

Woodies: A completely different catagory. Their susposed to be rough and filled with twists and airtime in my oppinion.

Getting back on subject, I'm not saying that SoB counts as a Hyper. I'm saying that KI's 2 claims to fame are the world's longest, tallest, and fastest wooden coasters (SoB and Beast respectively). Making a next gen hyper that combines those aspects kind of belittles KI's legends and thus would kill off some publicity. Thus, more of the same. I say we should get something "new" that we dont have anything of, like a Gestuler (can never spell that) or some speciallty coaster like a floorless or a verticle coaster.
