DeliriumTrigger Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 If you have pets, make sure you aren't feeding them anything on these lists: List of cat food List of dog food WASHINGTON - A major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths. FlyingScooter Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 That sucks! Thanks for posting this and I'll pass it on. ( i know people that feed their pets that stuff, from Walmart.)
okinawaboy11 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Yeah, I walked into work today (Petsmart) and saw this HUGE paper printed on the door. Read it and was like....ughhhh today is going to suck. Customer after customer after customer was yelling at me. I'm like, sorry, I don't work for Eukanuba, nor do I work for Iams, or Nutro, or Pedigree...Sorry. Luckily, I feed my dog dry food .
Angry_Gumball Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Glad to see Whiskas wasn't on there...our indoor/outdoor cat's been chowing down on that stuff as a treat.
robbalvey Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 This whole thing reminds me of "Eating Raoul" --Robb
cfc Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 ^Looks like Doggie King Dogfood was contaminated with Mountainbook Wine. Hollywood--city of contrasts. Home to the rich and powerful, yet so popular to the broken and destitute. Eating Raoul raouls, er, rules!
nyanko Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I just want to take this opportunity to tell everyone that most of the foods on this list are not very high quality pet foods, and this is a good opportunity to switch if you are affected by this. What you put into your pet can greatly affect his or her lifespan, health and even the aesthetic things like coat condition and breath. Consider switching to a higher quality food such as Natural Balance, Wellness, Merrick, Innova, Solid Gold and make sure you read over the ingredient list before you buy something for your pet!

Very true, most of the brands we sell at Petsmart are not that great. I always try to suggest Blue Buffalo or at least Nutro. NEVER feed your dog Bill Jack even if the rep tries to sell you his product, Bill Jack is notorious for creating intestinal track problems and problems with urinating.

It kills me how many people feed their pets these horrible quality foods full of 'ash' and 'meat by products'. $20 for a 30 pound bag of pet food is not a good deal, all you're getting is crap that'll hurt your pet in the long run! I hear 'well I've been feeding IAMS/Whiskas/Science Diet/whatever for xx number of years and she/he is fine!' but that doesn't mean it wont hurt them in the long run. I hope this recall will get people to switch their pets over to higher quality foods!
pete4winds Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Before we all degenerate into utter panic and chaos, let's look at this pres release from the FDA: http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01590.html It SPECIFICALLY says that the recall applies only to foods labeled "cuts and gravy." True, 60 million cans of pet food is a lot of food, but even if you're feeding your pet food from one of these brands, if it's not "cuts and gravy" I wouldn't worry too much.
TheBannedKid Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 They should completely recall all of Iams...that food is the shit of all pet food. While working for the local pet store we always frowned upon that company.
