Mark Rosenzweig Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Here in Israel we have an interesting take on the shotgun slides. instead of flying off horizontaly you basically plunge into the pool Dang, that slide looks awsome. It seems that you just fall down not even shoot out. Where is it, I might stop by it the next time I will be there? Mountain Creek in Vernon, Valley, NJ (formally Action Park) is easily the "diabolical water attraction" capitol of the U.S. The older section of the park features an amazing collection of concrete slides all carved in the mountainside, and all containing water cold enough for more than the average guy's share of nad shrinkage. In addition to crazy slides like the Cannonball, there's such simplistic attractions like swinging on a tarzan swing or jumping off a nearly 20 ft high cliff! This is also the park that once attempted (unsuccessfully) to introduce a looping waterslide back in the mid '80s. http://www.mountaincreekwaterpark.com/pages/attr_et.html -Mark
knottslover77 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Wild Rivers is my home! WOW! That mountan creekplace looks insane! --Jay
Tanks4me05 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Here in Israel we have an interesting take on the shotgun slides. instead of flying off horizontaly you basically plunge into the pool Those things actually exist?!?!?! The only place I saw those was in RCT3. If only one was built in the North Eastern United States...
ECZenith Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Hehe... Banana Jump... Those look evil, I wanna try em!
FLIPDUDE Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Heh, I know there's another "Banana jump" style slide in holland, because the ones in Israel are in an awsome water park called "Yamit 2000" which is basically trying to replicate a certain water park in holland, forgot which one though, so the previiew pic for these slides that they had in the media before theyw ere constructed was from the holland park. Yamit 2000 is an awsome park and one of the two(if not THE) largest water parks in Israel.(which means it's an okay park in US standards...) Chmilo, do you frequently visit Israel? O.o There is another awsome park located real close to me called the Meymadyon, it also has a take on them shotguns. There are 3 short tubes, EXTREMELY slippery(Seriously, if I hadn't known better I woulda said they actually propel you) that end in mid-air about a meter and a half above a VERY deep pool(and you pretty much sink the entire depth of the pool anyway). Very very fun, and even though ride time is like 2 seconds you'd be surprised how long the line can get(they usually only operate one of them) And I know we're talking about shotgun slides, but while we're at the topic of the Meymadyon, I absolutely have to make apost about these: The Meteor slides. Now, just for the record, these pictures don't do them justice, they're extremely steep and extremely tall. and oh so extremely EVIL. Can you say "wedgie machine"? Basically you get into one of the slides, you slide down, about one second in you can't see anything or breathe because of all the water (did I mention the slide is square, instead of bowl-shaped? that basiclaly means it has walls for you to hit on the way down) then you straighten out, and WHAM... The slide doesn't even got into a pool, the bottom part (where on most slides there will be a straight part to gently slow down the passengers?) is basically just a really shallow bank of water. so it stops you pretty much at ONCE, getting your bathing suit up to your shoulders and giving you one of the worst backaches ever. Which is why I never ride them anymore. And while I'm on the subjct of evil slides... If anyone here is a big water park fan like me, you want to go to Turkey. Almost Every single big hotel in that country has it's own waterpark. Plus, you can sometimes enter the hotels nextdoor through the beach and use their waterparks. not to mention they have alot of water parks anyway! Plus, The stay there is REDICULOUSLY CHEAP!(probably cus like ONE member of the staff speaks english, but its not biggie...) So one time me and my family were vacationing in Turkey(It's one of the places Israelites(and fromw hat I saw, brits) vacation to the most) in an AMAZING hotel callled "Silence beach club", our room had a view over the waterpark(that had a tube slide that goes uphill, by the way, yet not a master blaster), so after pounding every slide there and every ride in the amusement park(oh yeah, it had its own little amusement park) I decided to try and get into the htoel next door becaus eI saw they had taller water slides. At some point I managed, I went to the tallest of the slides, which was an enclosed tube, red on the outside, but black on the inside. And that was absolutely one of the craziest slides I've ever been on. First of all it starts off with a turn. not even a small drop to give you speed, jsut a turn. THEN it drops. Now, I have this little trick I do for extra speed on waterslides(I wont say what it is, though, because I honestly found myself almost flying off kiddy slides while doing it, so its dangerous) so I did the trick, the slide drops down, takes a turn, drops down some more, makes a right turn and BAM left turn. ... SPEEDY WATER SLIDES SHOULD NOT HAVE S-BENDS!!! Needless to say I slammed into the opposite side of the slide. and was now sliding on my stomache. I turned around just in time to see the end of the tunnel racing towards me, and at an angle!(Meaning the slide ENDs at like a 20 degree angle slope straight segment.) and SPLASH into the water. It hurt, it confused me, and im not sure how healthy it was. needless to say I rode it like 15 more times that day.(What a rush!!!) Also, for you fans of extremely evil slides(you know who you are), Turkey is the place for you! I picked up a flyer for one of the local water parks and as part of the description it actually had something along the lines of "________ is the first aquapark in Turkey to have speed slides that dont rip sliders' bathing suits!" Well, now! definately something to put in your press release, isn't it? couldn't find a picture of the evil slide so I rebuilt it in RCT3. it was kind of like this only taller.
IceDragon Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 we have slides like that in England, although its barely 3 ft. the Kamikaze water slide in Aqualand, Malaga is very painful. being a guy, going at 40+ mph down a 75ft(?) near vertical water slide with open legs is very painful (i panicked on the way down). landing into the splash run part was the most immense pain i have ever felt...
chmilo24 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Chmilo, do you frequently visit Israel? I've been to Hadera a couple of times to see a friend.
FLIPDUDE Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 ^Ah... O.o nothing interesting in Hadera as far as I know... never found a reason to go there. TEL AVIV ALL THE WAY, BABY!
the sound Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Here in Israel we have an interesting take on the shotgun slides. instead of flying off horizontaly you basically plunge into the pool DUDE! They look insano!
krouvi Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 In Israel we have something like this too , but its a very short slide almost 90 degree and it's like a free fall . I also been in such a slide in Belgium in "Ocead" park or something like that.
Fayik Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I LOVE these slides. I have one at my home water park, Splish Splash. It's called Shotgun Falls. Here's a pic of it I found off of my local newspapers website: http://www.newsday.com/media/photo/2006-06/24057425.jpg I live 10 minutes away from splish splash!! I LOVE THAT PLACE! Have you ever gone on alien invasion, or dragons den? Or... Even worse... The cliff diver? lmao my face!!
RJD Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I went on a slide once at the Ymca, this one had two waterslides. And the one I loved had was about twenty feet in the air. It literally had water gushing out of the sides that made such a force the sorta push you down. Anyway, I'd say this slide had about an eighty five degree drop. Now remember, this is about twenty feet high, but the slide itself is only fifteen feet long. It was so fun. I loved plummetting those five feet. I really wanted to do it head first but they would kick me out. Anyway, what I found really cool was that there was a bar on top of the slide, it was there to hold on while you sat down but you could use it as a propellor when the life gaurds weren't looking. Thinking back on it, my favorite way to ride was siting with my legs crossed at the ankle and my chest leaning over my thighs. I remember I propelled myself down the slide and assumed that position on the descent. I had amazing floater going down but ow... that face plant hurt.
the sound Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 ^ Our YMCA's Slide is very lame compared to that! I'll try fining a picture of it.
Twister II Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Those slides are a lifeguards worst nightmare. I work at an indoor pool with a whimsy drop slide. It's the only place in the pool area were just about all of the guards have had saves.
jedimaster1227 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Here in Israel we have an interesting take on the shotgun slides. instead of flying off horizontaly you basically plunge into the pool Death by slide! That really is scary looking slide, but then again, so is the looping slide that designers are developing...
IceDragon Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 went to centre parcs in the summer and found they have a few there. one only has a 5ft drop, but its like a 60* drop down 15ft or so... you go flying in, even kids are encouraged to do it... wtf? in Elveden Forest, they have a massive white one that levels out as you reach the bottom so you can skip the water... hurts like hell, but its soo much fun! the baby slides are awesome as well, i managed to flip (started laying face up) and landed face down in the pool... sure felt fast
FLIPDUDE Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 In Israel we have something like this too , but its a very short slide almost 90 degree and it's like a free fall . I also been in such a slide in Belgium in "Ocead" park or something like that. Have you read what I posted?
CK Media Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I've only been to a waterpark once and didn't get to ride anything.
