WadeJ Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 We were fortunate enough to be part of a off-season tour today @ Gadv. Mark Kane, the president of the park was kind enough to answer many of our questions - most actually including the ever-so-famous "Will Kingda Ka ever run 4 trains" to which he responded, Yes, on opening day . We'll see lol This is the new entrance to Wiggles World (formally Looney Tunes Seaport) The old turntable for poland spring plunge will be stage for a show The new home of Johnny Rockets There are also some pictures of various rehabs in the park, other details on changes happening along with the new Conservation Station being built in the safari. Feel free to check it out - http://gadvupdates.com/forums/index.php?page=55 Enjoy -Wade
eskater132 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I CAN'T WAIT TO GO THIS SUMMER! I think all Six Flags parks are getting Johnny Rockets, SFoT for sure is, and the best part is, is that it was Chubbies Diner, and now it's JR JR at SFoT
downunder Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 That sounds like great news, so many great rides and such poor operations in the past. We'll see if they can back up the talk. Did they say if both sides of chiller would be open at the same time, from what I have heard it would be hard to run both sides simultaneously.
yankees15 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 ^ If you click on the link there is more information on the tour. It stats that Chiller (robin) should open with the park and Chiller (Batman) should open shortly after. It is great to hear about Kingda ka running all four trains. Went I went last season there were only two trains and the line took forever!
YoshiFan Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I really hope they keep their word about running multiple trains since they said the same thing last year and it didn't work out (1 train on RT most of the time?!)
WadeJ Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Well, if you were asking if they were actually both working would they operate them at the same time then the answer is yes. They just can't launch them at the exact same time. They just have to wait til one train is on the course but not on the spike LIMS and then launch. Usually one is going backwards while the other train goes out. This happened for a whopping 5 weeks last year lol
downunder Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I didn't think they could use both sides LIM's at the exactly the same time, I have heard they use an unbelievable amount of electricity. Wow, someday I might get to ride the batman side - visited last three years and no cigar. Hopefully the dispatches will improve on Kingda Ka this year they were just painful in August when I was there last year, at least I finally got to ride the bloody thing.
Xmeister Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Anyone else think that the Wiggles are too limited of a draw? I mean they are for little, little kids. They freak my four year old brother out.
Rider117 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Chiller is getting the zero-g rolls removed? I never would of guessed that!
Guest Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Chiller is getting the zero-g rolls removed? I never would of guessed that! Easy produce clerk.
carolinacaniac Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 All of this sounds really good! the fact that they only recruited employees for 2-3 months kind of surprises me. I would have thought that they would have done it for at least a few months before the season and then most of the actual season. I would say that recruiting all year could be a way to find better employees. The better incentives may not hurt either. I sure hope that they fix up Rolling Thunder, because I don't think that just having both sides running will be enough to change my opinion of the ride. It just felt like the cars were running over rocks (but then again, that is just my opinion). 100th post!
deguy123 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 All this sounds good but I'm not beleiving it until it's done/completed. They have done a great job theming in the past few years but they really need some flats. There are plenty of childrens area now so focus on family flats and extreme flats. Chiller being fixed has been promised forever, I've kind of given up hope on that ride.
DerekRx Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 As with many things Six Flags and Great Adventure, I'll believe it when I see it. They may think they're on the right track, and we may all agree, but then they either run over budget and stop immediately, or just can't get the clientelle to cooperate. I'd like to see the park start looking good and me actually being able to go there and have a good day, but I'm not gonna count my chickens before they hatch. Then again, reports were that Magic Mountain was suprisingly good this past weekend, with multiple trains on everything, fresh coats of paint, and cheerful efficient employees. If that's a sign of things to come to the rest of the chain, I'm all for it. Let's just hope it lasts.
larrygator Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 ^like Derek said. SFGAdv looked to be improving in early 2006, but by July it was the same old same old.
