Chris Benvenuto Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Hello, people this is an honest question I want to know from anyone. Have any of you played the Original MYST in 2D or the new 3D RealMyst or any other Myst games in the series like URU or Riven? I want answers, This answer will show how intelligent some folks are here. Because Myst isn't as easy as it seems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MYST EDIT: added an Wiki reference for those confused about the game.
Jew Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 F*ck that game! We had to play it as part of our computer class in middle school...curse that organ you had to play a certain way to open the door to finish the game!
Chris Benvenuto Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 ahh, the infamous Selenitic Age puzzle, I felt that way too the first time I came across Myst.
Angry_Gumball Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I have Riven for the PSX. Never understood the game but always had impressive visuals and was a great stress reliever.
fictionalxxfiend Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Only played Riven, back when I was in High School. I liked it a lot, rather hard. In fact, I think I still have it. I should get Myst and the rest of the series.
WillMontu Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I played the original on a high end 486-66 with 8mb of RAM and a 400mb hard drive, but I never got very far in it.
BarryH Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I've seen Myst all over the place, but I never got a chance to play it.
CommanderLock Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Ah, Myst...I've played it once, never understood it. But I was like 8 at the time.
steel Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I loved that game! I use detailed walkthroughs, of course, but I love it either way! I've played MYST 2D once, I failed Riven once (than came back later and beat it in two hours), and I was working on MYST III: Exile for a while, but it got too complicated so I took a break. Riven is my favorite of the three.
Chris Benvenuto Posted February 24, 2007 Author Posted February 24, 2007 ^ there are 5 Myst games and an Online version call URU live now. URU went live 3-4 weeks ago.
timetrial3141592 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I have played Myst, Riven, Exile, and Revelations (Myst IV) and liked them all.
dragoncoaster1292 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I am emotionally attached to this game! I first played at around age five with my sister and my babysitter (whom I am still friends with), and it took us a year to beat it. By the time we were done with the game, it had taken over my life. I beat the game about five more times until Riven came out. I beat that in a week, and I am currently at the beginnig of Exile. I LOVE this game. Sorry, I'm ranting. But still, I love it! Mark "Can Do A Perfect Impression of the Broken Clocktower from the Selenitic Age!" Z.
Real Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Love the series. Ive played the original Myst and then Riven. I got about 75% of the way through Myst. Even today it still needs a few more clues but its an amazing puzzle game with a great story. More importantly, Ive read the books. Or at least 2 of them. Ive read the Book of Atrus and I own the Book of Ti'ana. I started the Book of D'ni but didnt finish it. Books are even better than the games!
GMAN962 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 When I was young, I used to just mess around in that game. Basically, search blindly for whatever you're supposed to look for in the game! You've just inspired me...maybe I should try it again, now that I'm older. -Mike
Golfie Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I completed the first one last year (after trying since I was tiny!). I'm thinking of skipping Riven because I beat the Ultimate Directors Cut version of Myst - the one with 360* view. Going back to the old "Slideshow" version of the game is way too disorienting and confusing.
Chris Benvenuto Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 ^ you mean RealMyst right? that name isn't real. RealMyst Came out in 2000, not 1996 like some people I've heard say. I have RealMyst, it's not called what you just called it!
