coasterdude5 Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 ^ Too unrealistic, a waterfall that tall would probably drown a person a day with that amount of force.
asr Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Yeah, I thought about that more after I posted it
rckrazy06 Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 How cool would it be if Sulfur returned, it was one of my favorites. If not, I definatly see a flyer of an Airtime filled Intamin woodie in the future. I still think the skycoaster over the lake would be cool.
kraken613 Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Glad the floorless is gone! Sade to see the invert go though. Will we see an update today?
coasterdude5 Posted October 15, 2007 Author Posted October 15, 2007 Update Year 39 Well, Oronga is gone... and I know many of you are glad. Since you're a COASTER enthusiast, it kinda saddens me that you would be glad to see a COASTER be removed. That's just the way I see it. Maybe they'll add something worth while in the years to come. Work is continuing on the un-announced Year 40 project. I wish they'd announce it... everyone knows what it is. I guess they want to wait until Year 39 is underway so people don't confuse its opening. Looks like a nice variety of attractions, however, I'm sure the public will find something to complain about. I never would've thought they would've been able to fit a hotel and a waterpark all into this area. Here's an overview as they continue to add more attractions. Solar Flare, the flagship attraction of Hershey's Hawaiian Escape, at about 100 feet. This park is slowly going down the drain, I know it, you know it. Hershey better get their act together, or a Dillards may be the next tallest attraction added. More soon.
coastercrazy216 Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 While I am happy to see the floorless go, I am sad. I think that the overall appearance of the ride was what many were so upset about. I am VERY happy about the waterpark though. It looks fantastic. Here is my very hopeful prediction... New for year 40! Waterpark and a really good roller coaster.
kraken613 Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 You need one really GOOD tall coaster. Overall I like the waterpark.
asr Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I'm not a waterpark person, but that waterpark looks pretty sweet! The hotel needs a new, larger parking lot though, with the waterpark going in around it, it lacks parking spaces. I am sad to see Oronga go... My main problem with it was the un-realistic twists after the immelmann, which you changed before it was removed. Overall, Oronga wasn't a very realistic coaster, but a good coaster. Also, I find it somewhat interesting that Oronga has been cleared out completly but Tidal Wave remains untouched... It's like when Viper (Which happens to be similar to Oronga) was torn down quickly, and Riptide (Which was similar to Tidal Wave) sat for ages after being closed down. Hopefully in a few years the park will put in a world class coaster to make up Tidal Wave and Oronga leaving.
coasterdude5 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 Tidal Wave is still operating and will close and be removed later in the season.
rckrazy06 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 It has really been bugging me, can you post a list of all the coasters that have come, gone, and still exist at HHE, I can't keep track.
asr Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Current; Tantalus (Wooden Twister) Zhambi Sidewinder (Mack Spinning Coaster) Solar Flare (Maurer Sohne Launched X-Car) Duma-Paka (Kidde Coaster) Defunct; Riptide (Vekoma SLC) Viper (Schwarzkopf Looper) Mine Mountain (Vekoma Mine Train) Hurtle De Zhambi (Vekoma LSM Bowl) Tidal Wave (B&M Invert) Hershey's Xtreme Cup Challenge (Premier Family Dark Coaster) Tigre (Intamin Accelerator) Sulfur (B&M Hyper) Turbulence (Intamin Zacspin) Oronga (B&M Floorless) Red Zone (Indoor Robocoaster) Peregrine (B&M Dive Machine)
coasterdude5 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 Update Year 39 More work continues on the waterpark, currently dubbed "Hawaiian Cascades". They're really ahead of schedule... (it seems) The major slide tower complex is complete. Overview of "Hawaiian Cascades" (I hope that's the name of this place.) They were considerate and didn't put any rides in front of the new hotel wing. (the waterfall makes enough noise) The tornado is the closest ride to the new wing. The master blaster ride seems to have been testing today. This is gonna be a crowded little area right here. Today was Tidal Wave's last day... It will be missed. There's some good news though, both of them HAVE been sold to another park, and at least one if not both might reopen. More soon.
brandon Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 finally some good news lol, i am really liking the water park
rckrazy06 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 To me, the park seems to lack a flagship flat ride. Ok, maybe Tropicana Tower is one. but it needs something big like a skycoaster, drop tower, and maybe Waste of Space mat have to make a return.
coasterdude5 Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 Update Year 39 HERSHEYHERSHEY ANNOUNCES LARGEST EXPANSION IN PARK'S HISTORY HERSHEY'S HAWAIIAN CASCADES Year 40 will be a huge one for the Hershey Hawaii Resort with the addition of the massive Hershey's Hawaiian Cascades waterpark. Centered around a 10 story waterfall, Hershey Hawaii's new waterpark will thrill guests of all ages with over ten water attractions. With attractions for every member of the family, the new waterpark will be sure to be a success. "We have been looking into adding a waterpark for over a decade now," said new general manager Steven Johnson, "and it is finally a reality." The park will feature 3 speed slides, 1 tornado slide, 1 bowl slide, 1 family raft slide, 1 master blaster slide, 1 lazy river, and 1 wave pool. The waterpark will be located around The Volcanic but will be a separate admission price. Parking will be in the soon-to-be expanded parking garage. The park opens for its 40th season soon. The slide complex looks all cool. The tornado is all ready to go. In other park news, Duma-Paka has opened. Even though it's been refurbished, it's now the oldest coaster at the park, originally opening with the park in Year 1. It originally opened unnamed, then reappeared for Year 4/5/6 as Chocolate Coaster and closed for JRancher and is now reopening as Duma-Paka. More soon.
rckrazy06 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I like everything about the water park, it's just that I think the blue and maroon speed slides should have separate layouts, and not the same. Also, I thing the Master Blaster slide is a bit of an evesore with the really big helix.
kraken613 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 The water park looks ok. A coaster would have been better.
bovinejumpsuit Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I think the Master Blaster slide is a bit of an eyesore with the really big helix. I agree, the Fun of a Master Blaster is going UPhill, not going down a helix like you can on any other tube slide.
coasterdude5 Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 Update Year 40 Hershey's Hawaiian Cascades is open! Outside the entrance is the essentials like a gift shop and food stands. Well folks, it's gone. Not much left now. It has opened up alot of space, though. There seems to be a hole in the park, now... More soon.
brandon Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Hopefully a nice coaster will be built in tidal waves old space.
texasgiantrules Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 What's that I see in the back of the last picture?
coasterdude5 Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 ^ It was from a previous update. (It was left out)
coasterdude5 Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 Update Year 40 The waterpark's centerpiece is the waterfall. Solar Flare looks great over the wave pool. The Volcanic + Solar Flare = Good. It's still keeping its smoothness. Checking in with us today? The cool parking lot coaster. Kaena Point Falls is now one of the tallest rides in the park. It's not even that tall. The empty Bay Lake - will there ever be another ride to soar over it? Rainforest Cafe is doing very well at the park business-wise. Tantalus, the longest-remaining coaster at the park. Could it be the next to be removed? More soon.
