An Illinois man has filed a $10 million federal lawsuit against Paramount's Kings Island and several park police stemming from his arrest last summer on sexual-imposition charges.

Keith Bays, 44, says he was wrongfully arrested and "manhandled" by park police May 28 after two women complained about his behavior toward them.

The charges were later dismissed in Mason Municipal Court for lack of probable cause, according to the lawsuit. Bays alleges civil rights violations, false and unlawful arrest, assault and battery, and malicious prosecution. His attorney was unavailable for comment.

Kings Island officials refused comment on the lawsuit.

Bays said park police arrested him without probable cause, assaulted him and cursed at him. He said he suffered bruises on his upper body, pain, and dizziness, according to the lawsuit. Authorities also left his young children unattended while they detained him for questioning, according to the lawsuit. He is suing the unnamed officers individually.

According to a police report, the accusers, Kylie Groover, then 18, of Indiana, and an unnamed 14-year-old girl told police Bays struck up a conversation with them about a cell phone as he stood behind them in line at the Worlds Greatest Funnel Cakes. At one point, they said, Bays introduced himself, shook Groover's hand, then ran his hand down her side touching her breast, according to the report. He later made sexually suggestive gestures toward the two from across the room, they said.

Bays disputed the allegations. He denied having any sexual contact with the girls. He was arrested and taken to the Warren County jail.

Bays said he paid $5,000 for an attorney and to get out of jail. The case was dismissed July 18.

Maybe I should have sued King's Island and Vekoma for $400 million each because the psychological grief and fear I experienced when my OTSR failed in the middle of my ride on Face/Off. I mean, seriously, I can't ride any Vekoma Invertigo without reliving a little bit of that fear. They have traumatized me for life!!!

Seriously, he may have a little bit of a reason to go after King's Island, but when you make your case for $10 million, then you just look like a greedy @$$ who's just trying to get as much as he can. Hooray sue-happy America.

The way lawsuits work is you have to prove that you were damaged for the amount you are suing for. You can file suit for $10 million in damages all day long, but if you can't prove $10 million in damages you'll never get that. I imagine this guy doesn't get a dime more than 10 grand for his bruises.

Not alot of information to go on here, but initially I'm inclined to believe this guy's story. He was at the park with his two young children, and just so happened to be hitting on two teen girls. Yeah, seems real likely.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but perhaps these two young "women" saw enough of an opportunity to bend the truth and take somebody down for their own gain.

*If* that's the case (the fact that the case was dismissed makes it a real possibility), then not only was this guy injured unnecessarily, but his reputation was damaged as well. And that's obviously much more difficult to repair than bumps and bruises.

But who knows, none of us were actually there. Eh, at least Tigger wasn't invovled.

$10 million he won't get. $1 million he won't get. Heck, I'd be shocked if he got $100 grand. It's up to this guy to prove that his damaged reputation is costing him financially. I mean what's this guy's reputation worth anyway? Probably not as much as he is suing for. If he lost his job or lost customers at a company he owns because of this, he might get some decent money out of this.

I don't get it, I highly doubt he was "Mishandled" by police. I mean if they went up to him and said "Sir can you come with us, we need to ask you a few questions?" Then questioned him, and he agreed everything would have been just fine. I'm guessing something like this guy refused to listen to the police so they escorted him out. And odds are he threw a fit about it, so they took him in. It's just crazy that he wants $10 million!!! I hope this guy gets nothing...

Like BeemerBoy said, we have very little information. Who knows what happened? Private security goons can get carried away. Some of the security guards at my work have been scary individuals, borderline psychotic. Maybe the girls lied. Maybe this guy is lying. We'll never know. Frankly, who cares? $10 million is excessive for this kind of case. They didn't beat the guy into a wheelchair. He didn't lose some $1 million/yr CEO job.

There are a lot of creeps out there, but this is also America, home of the frivilous lawsuit. There are probably just as many people out there that will flat out make stuff up in an attempt to get money out of it. Basically what I'm saying is, it's pretty much just as likely that the girls made the whole thing up as it is that he actually did what he said they did.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame this guy either. I volunteered at a tutoring center for JD's (juvy cases) for over nine years. I saw girls get people that owned corner stores arrested on sexual imposition simply because they wouldn't sell them cigs or just because they wanted to feel powerful. The guy that owns a store by my house installed cameras for his own safety and it's saved him several times.

I'm not sure what it is in other States, but in Cuyahoga county, Ohio, the magic number is 696-kids. I've seen kids put their families or enemies thru hell just by calling that number.

Manhandled is an interesting term. Should he have been 'womanhandled'? It's hard to say what he might get, I'd guess 250k.

can you tell us about this experience please?

^Well, for the record, I was obviously being sarcastic about suing, though my harness did come up.

About five years ago, I was on Face/Off, and as we went up the second lift hill, I was riding in reverse, so all my weight fell forward onto the OTSR. Right when I fell on it, it popped open and the seat belt caught it. The train went all the way up the tower and then dropped, all while my harness was open. Then, once we started going into the loop, I was able to push myself back into the seat. The OTSR then locked back into place. They then shut the ride down for an hour and fixed it. It was quite the experience. That's why I'm a strong believer in having back-up seat belts for pretty much everything. I tend to get a bit uncomfortable when on major coasters that don't.

Anyway, I don't mean to take this off topic.

that's insane, and scary at the same time. In the "2002 30 coasters in 24 hours" show...didn't KONG at SFMW have restraint problems and they had to ride something else until it got fixed?

Why is it Vekoma restraints? Are they mechanicly different?

But yeah, I am scared of fair rides that hold you upside down and have no back up belts. Especially Zampela restraints.
