Thanks in advance
asr Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Chiller is closed for the rest of the season. Fortunatly I rode it in May, and it was great . I didn't ride Batman though, so no rare credit for me
asr Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Premier LIM coaster, and Chiller in particular have lots of downtime and maitence problems, plus there was an accident on Chiller earlier in the season, the specifics of which are unknown as far as I know.
Twister II Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 ^ I've never heard of Speed closing for long periods of time. Is this accident due to a broken wheel chassy?
Shmoclo Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 i heard rumors that this ride is gona disapear at the end of 2006. I hope it is still running for next coaster season cus i really wana go on it
downunder Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 That would be a real shame if it closed because it is a really good ride (based on only riding Robin), six flags maintenance budgets probably haven't helped this ride.
WadeJ Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Chiller was finally running great this past spring. I managed 16 rides on Batman in one night actually. Unfortunately, there was a mishap with Robin that resulted in all Premier coasters being shut down. Once the situation was resolved, there was no more "budget" for operating the ride so it will remain closed for 2006. There is a massive thread on here discussing the closure from earlier this year.
CycloneMan Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 It's closed because it killed itself. It'll be back next year But not Freefall. This is what happened: On June 2nd, there was an accident on Robin. What hapened was, there was a crack on the inside f the wheel assembly on the 3rd car, left sde. During the ride, the wheel assembly came off. Thus the third car became lop sided. When it hit the LIM's on the spike, the LIM fin on the left side, third car smashed into the LIM's and the car, making it all mangelled! The FIN went into the car and cuting a kids leg from his knee to his ankle. He shoulv'e been sent to the hospital, but he decided to stay. The third car ended up slaming into the fourth car, injuring one kids arm (they went to the hospital). The train hen came down and valleyed, or more screached back and fourth. While this happened the whole power house shook! Also, the mechanics had to break off the LIM fin to get the injured kids off

An employee probably spilled thier drink on the control box and fried the system.

Also, the mechanics had to break off the LIM fin to get the injured kids off Spot on CycloneMan, but you forgot to mention that the cars detached and when they valleyed the two pieces bounced back and forth slamming into each other, causing some of the riders to get whiplash. Those are the ones that were sent to the hospital. Sucks that this had to happen during the same season that saw both Chiller sides running.
Twister II Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I wonder how many text messages it took the ride ops to notice? OP "How's the ride?" RIDER "Its okay. I think some thing's wrong with the ride." OP "I wonder how long til' break..." RIDER "I seriously think something is wrong" OP "WTF does XD mean???"
CycloneMan Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Actually my close friend was a lead that day and none of the mechanics knew about the crack, he didn't here anythign wierd. He did want them to open Batman side first but the mechs said Robin.
CP_RULES Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 An employee probably spilled thier drink on the control box and fried the system. When in doubt, blame it on a SF employee.
