Golfie Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Six Flags Great America - September 3, 2006 Number three of my 6 planned SFGAm trips taken this year! I have to say, I had a great time with my cousin, Cole. The greatest thing was his expression after getting off of his first roller coaster (he was adopted from Bejing two years ago). Sorry about taking almost two weeks to get the TR up - I like making the TR's... just not photoshopping the pictures. So, here you are - the last photo TR of me at the Marriott's Six Americas of Greatness *arg* I mean Six Flags Great America. End results of the parade, or a giant pinata exploding? You decide. Marathon riding on Raging Bull... Has this photo of Viper ever been taken? Maybe? Maybe not? Don't know? Too bad. Forget about it. You'll never find out. Woah... my face looks retarded in this picture. "I'm a pharmacist who likes beer... meeeehhh!" V2 decided to launch, stop, restart, BLOW the Intamin siren, launch, stop, restart, BLOW the Intamin siren AGAIN, and finally work. Best. Photo. Of. TR. I waited 9 minutes to get you all this ugly picture of Dejacrap Vulgarity. Never again... coming out of the huge helix was like Ryan getting tackled by Casey - "Oh shit oh shit!" Demon decided to E-Stop when we were at the gates... oh well - we got a semi-painful, but not as painful as the other seats, front row ride! How's that for a line? 10 minutes for a B&M hyper = yumm-ee-ness. Is it really possible to figure out which turn this is? I mean, Raging Bull is ALL turns! At the bottom of each hill, the ride provides some nice positive G's, along with a free vibration massage! I love shouting random stuff at people so they smile at the camera... "WOOO VIPER YEAHHHH!!!" Brake Run photo - dum dee dum! Empty station - here we come! Can anyone guess what turn this is? Seriously, I can't remember. Sure, take a picture of SheiKra going up its immelman, but NO - you can't take Raging Bull coming up the second hill! Dumb camera... "That was so cool, Andrew!!!" W0000! Signature Whizzer, braces, and uhh... cousin (?) shot all in one! It's Whizzer time! XD Okay... time for some schwarsoijdhsaoijpf goodness. Oh wait... uniform E-Stop. So I sat there listening to the "schpeel" with which I'm proud to say that I, too, could become a SFGAm ride op! As they'd say in the deep south, "Mama, is the rolley coastey gonna come back down?" I took geek photos for a bit while we waited. So we headed over to wait for Cole to get dropped off... Superman is still being endsville'ish. So we park right at the front of the lot (we got there at around 9:30) and got to see Superman... you guessed it - E-STOP!!! LOL LOSERS! I officially pronounce this sign the "99.9% Impossible to Photograph Sign" Best. Weather. Ever. ...watchin' Tom dress up like a pimp to impress the ladies. So I sat there, a'eating my Lucky Charms... Well... this photo explains one thing. I am NOT a morning person.
ParkTrips Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 haha you're pretty good at the Photo TR thing... it was a nice read, thanks.
ECZenith Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Awww man, I can't wait to try Raging Bull next year. I don't hear many great things about it but a B&M steel twister??? Hell yeah...
Ryan King Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Dude... Sweet TR! I was laughin! Good Job! Keep up the good work man! Awesome coaster shots and good captions! -Ryan
Golfie Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 Awww man, I can't wait to try Raging Bull next year. I don't hear many great things about it but a B&M steel twister??? Hell yeah... Don't let the bad comments get you down - it really is a great coaster! It's just that SFGAm went overboard with trim brakes on it. So if you are looking for a fast ride, this isn't what you're looking for.
pvcoasterguy Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Just letting you know... the American Eagle rocks. The red side in the front means one of the best wooden coaster rides, ever. And, with Great America running it how it should (with minimal trims), the positive G's in the helix are great. And it's really smooth in the front, and has tons of airtime.
rbpia Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Great trip report. I usually go to SFGAm 6 - 7 times a year. I have not been this year, your TR is really getting me pumped for Oct. 7-8. Two days of Fright Fest goodness! rbpia "nothing like waiting until Oct. 7 to ride your 1st coaster of the year"
Erik Johnson Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Hey that was another great Photo TR. It is nice to seem some of the younger members spend a good amount of time posting intelligent captions as well as decent picutres. Good job!
rosscoe Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Great Trip Report mate. But can i ask what is that in your ceral?
Golfie Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 Great Trip Report mate. But can i ask what is that in your ceral? My cereal was called "Lucky Charms" it's basically a simple grain cereal with marshmallows. It's delicious!
mr_teisco_delrey Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Short line envy! Last time I went, the lines were a nightmare. Even a FlashPass didn't alleviate the situation. What, no Iron Wolf shots? Luv Raging Bull though! Mmm Mmm!
the_rock401 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I was there on August 18, and after the thunderstorm cleared the park out, it was a walkaround for Raging Bull and Viper. I was on the last ride of Viper during a downpour, and that thing was INSANE!

What, no Iron Wolf shots? Luv Raging Bull though! Mmm Mmm! I hope some freak accident doesn't happen to me on a roller coaster... it's almost like I'm getting these empty park days for a reason!
benzo41190 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 So whats the status on American Eagle. The past few times ive been there its been closed....like for EVAR! Its mainly just retracking. But when I was there on the last operating Wed (end of Aug) They were re tracking the hill before the helix.

ECZenith Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 When the park is dead like this does the Ragin' Cajun still get a bad line? I know even on dead park days Pandemonium still has a long line. I'm hoping to make a credit stop here early next Spring.
Golfie Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 ^ Yeah. Ragin Cajun's line was PACKED the whole day along with Superman; therefore, we avoided them. I was disappointed that Cole couldn't get on Superman since that was the one he was like "Are we going to ride that one?" with. Ahh well, maybe next time! Benzo - AE was running the red train; the blue trains were on the transfer track.
ECZenith Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Grrr.... so I'm assuming there's no single rider line for Cajun, that's the one credit I'm worried about missing. Oh well. Too bad you didn't get on Superman, while Tatsu rocks the other B&M flyers I still find the original SUF's to be quite fun.

Too bad you didn't get on Superman, while Tatsu rocks the other B&M flyers I still find the original SUF's to be quite fun. I could care less about Superman - I've already gotten three rides on it this year and it pretty much sucks donkey by the third time... the only fun part is going up the lift and through the pretzel. On the other hand, single rider lines need to be installed all over SFGAm.
pvcoasterguy Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Unfortunately, Six Flags simply doesn't do single rider lines. And, it would be close to impossible to retrofit the current queue lines to somehow include a single rider line.
benzo41190 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 ^the exits.....well on some of the rides. Because some of the exits are wide enough to fit two lines. I mean, they really only need single ride lines on DeJa Vu, Raging Cajun, and V2....which are possible to add.
Golfie Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 ^the exits.....well on some of the rides. Because some of the exits are wide enough to fit two lines. I mean, they really only need single ride lines on DeJa Vu, Raging Cajun, and V2....which are possible to add. They could take out the second zig-zag overflow queue on Raging Bull to put one in. That thing was probably only used for the first season!
benzo41190 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 ^But there still wouldn't be a way to add another path to the raging bull station. Unless they remove the whole "left side/front row" side of the stairs to the building. And that second overflow does fill up! If you ever go there during fright fest on a Saturday.....sometimes you will be waiting in both overflows plus and extra few mins out side of the sign.
Golfie Posted September 18, 2006 Author Posted September 18, 2006 ^ Wow! I must just be lucky then. I'm probably going to bring the 'ol video camera along next time. I'll film a nice long video.
