CaseyFish Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Wasn't sure where to put this but it involes both the 49ers and PGA.....is there parking lot even big enough. But ya know it doesn't matter where they move, they are still gonna suck...hahahahahaha http://news.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060718/NEWS18/607180388&oaso=news.rgj.com/breakingnews I hope someone else didn't post this already...I did do a search I swear. Rollerholden Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 That's interesting...I wonder what Cedar Fair has to say about that. Would Great America get a new parking lot? From what I remember, that parking lot is right next to Top Gun's first drop and loop.
goleafsgo Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 that would be pretty cool to have a stadium with a theme park in the background.
Rollerholden Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 ^The PGA skyline isn't too tall...I wouldn't be surprised if the stadium hid it.
Jew Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 The Oakland A's tried the same thing about 5-10 years ago... It's just a ploy to get the city to approve the surrounding development they want with a new stadium at Candlestick point. Why the hell they would want to stay in that awful location, I'll never know. But whatever.
Bush985 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 The spot where the stadium would go would be in PGA's overflow lot. This is still owned by teh city and leased by PGA. Like Joey said, it's just a ploy. -RD
Meteornotes Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 How much space is left in that lot? I thought they had already sold off some of it for various office buildings. I haven't been to the park since 2000, so obviously I haven't seen the lot lately. I agree it's all a ploy, though, for them to get to do whatever they want with the new stadium area. dt

speedracer Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 If you zoom in a bit, the huge parking lot next to the left of the youth soccer field in the below link is PGA's overflow lot, which PGA rarely needs or uses: http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.349227,74.794922&q=paramounts+great+america&ie=UTF8&ll=37.398801,-121.971824&spn=0.011677,0.01826&t=h&om=1 The City's been trying for decades to build a stadium there, just haven't had any luck suckering us locals into flipping the bill for it.
bgwfreak Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 It sounds like they are just saying this to force San Fran to build the new stadium. I'm still mad that they named it 3Com park or whatever crappy name it is now.
