  1. Family coasters certainly have their place in theme parks. A good theme park has a selection of rides for everyone. This is why Verbolten is a great choice for BGW as it rounds out their coaster line up with something a little more "family friendly".. That being said, I expect the enthusiast community to be disappointed with "mine train in box + drop" compared to the derivative (but 50 percent taller for our pleasure) Leviathan. For the record. Skyrush is still my number 1 next year followed by Wild Seagull.
  2. and that sir, is the comment of the day.
  3. ^Joey, I thought the gist of the Vision plan was to remove land from the park and build condos? Maybe I'm confusing this with Orlando.
  4. I'm not a harry potter fan and the ride in Orlando gives me a bit of motion sickness after multiple rerides. The land is kind of lame, crowded and small. I suspect they will make many changes to the land to better accomodate the influx of people this time around. That being said, I think it's a great addition to USH as it will bring the crowds. With crowds means more money for maintenance and other capital improvements.
  5. Awesome. I can't wait for this day.
  6. I, honestly, don't know Robb's taste in rides are, but I'd suspect it has to Verbolten (13 knockoff) ((again, no offense Busch Gardens Williamsburg as you are an amazing park with an amazing staff and have an amazing collection of themed rides))..From an enthusiast's point of view, Leviathan might not make sense at CW, but it looks to be the air time machine to end all air time machines.
  7. 2011 was an amazing year for me. My "devilspawn" child was born (seriously a great moment, I reccommend everyone tries it at least once). Other memorable moments were Bizzaro Bash with all my TPR friends and an incredible water challenge as well Hershey Park with our newborn. What was your 2011 highlight? Edited to say: I also got the Manhattan Express credit. That's how you know it was a good year. ?
  8. Since I've been lucky enough to hear what you guys are most looking forward too in 2k12 (Mayan Style) .. I'm wondering.. What ride (in your mind) doesn't deserve the hype? I'm going with Verbolten.. Chris "seriously, love you Busch Gardens" Connolly
  9. wow! ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and copied the story to the first post! Thanks for grabbing this for us Chris! CHRIS EDIT: Let the speculation about where they could actually fit this land in USH begin.
  10. ^Mike.. I might do something solo like I did last year; Providing Kristin Connolly isn't against it.
  11. ^Best. Photo. Ever... Hopefully my child will like coasters this much
  12. FWIW- January is our second favorite time of year to visit WDW (followed by early September, as you get the food and wine festival + light crowds). I've been down during Marathon weekend (not so bad, if you use a site like touringplans to figure out where to go) and MLK weekend (definitely worse, but still better than any "Summer" day). January (after the 4th) is a great month to visit WDW as the combination of low prices for rooms and short lines for rides is tough to beat... I'll take a coulple rides closed for rehab over long lines and high prices any day. Chris "is now checking out prices for a January trip" Connolly
  13. Mr.Brooks, thank you for finally taking a photo of the ghost monorail. Thanks for this awesome trip report.
  14. Great update Steve. The verbolten construction photos were awesome. The HD video on the sky ride was awesome. ... FWIW, I counted all the lights on Pompeii. 147,280. What do I win again?
  15. Couldn't have said it better myself... Thanks for making us aware of this really cool place Larry and thanks to Buffalo Bill and Chuck for creating it. Here's to hoping that they are able to fully realize their vision. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say, I can't wait to make my first visit.
  16. I'm looking forward to riding Wild Eagle with some really cool people and leviathan with some really cool people and skyrush by myself. Chris "that was not a run-on sentence" Connolly
  17. 2012 looks to be an amazing year in the coaster world and everywhere else. So... What are you most excited for in 2012? Click here for a recap of new rides for 2012
  18. At this point I'll just show my cards.. Over the past few days I've learned the complete history of dark rides. I now know about the Pretzel Company, Bill Cassidy, and even the defunct Staten Island Fun House that was purchased by a private collector (who plans to reopen it at the location above).. Here's what I've got... The murals you've posted scream New Jersey Piers to me . The satellite images look to be from an area north of Virginia (most likely PA or NJ).. I've searched high and low. How about at least sharing the state you are traveling to?
  19. While I've always been a fan of Coaster Expedition over in the raw (it's all about the people, people) . The quality of the first raw hd blu-ray blew me away. Patiently waiting for the next blu ray to arrive in my mailbox. By the initial reviews, it looks to be a worthwhile wait.
  20. The photo above with the team was taken in West Haven CT?
