  1. mmmmm...In-n-Out.....mmmm...."animal style" burgers.....mmmmm Now that would be $9 well spent.
  2. Thanks for that PTR! I miss my old home coaster. Anyway, she looks as good as ever, but how's she running these days? If it's anything like when it opened, then I really can't wait to get back home in october for a visit. For all of you woodie fans that don't know about the DBH, I suggest you check out the POV Robb posted, and then make the trip to south florida to check it out......it's a hidden gem with great airtime! Scott "Take the time to make the sidetrip from Orlando to visit Fort Lauderdale and ride the DBH" B.
  3. That's actually a really good idea. Hasn't the city of LA commissioned graffitti artists in the past in an attempt to get them off the streets and put their artistic talents to work somewhere useful? I thought I remembered hearing something like that in the past. Anyway, that really would be something to see.
  4. ^ The 6th pic down is simply ridiculous!! Voyage who? El Toro who? Tatsu who? I think we're looking at the undisputed "yet-to-be-ridden by the GP" champion of 2006. So how much does a flight to Germany cost anyway?
  5. What was the last concert you went to? Tell us a little about it.......who, when, where, and did it rock? My wife and I went to see NIN @ the Tabernacle in Atlanta May 21st, 2005 (wow, has it been that long? ). The Tabernacle is a converted old church near downtown Atlanta. Ironic that NIN would be playing there, huh? Anyway, the place only holds about 2,000 people, so catching any "big" name there is like getting the Golden Ticket!! You can just imagine how insane that show was in such a small place! There's two balcony levels and the open floor, but even the last row in the house could be reached by a good throw from the stage. We sat in the first balcony, second row.....my mosh pit, crowd surfing days are past me, I'm afraid, but nonetheless, we never "sat" at all. This was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen! Anyway, we caught Morrissey there not too long before that show. I highly recommend catching a show there if at all possible. On top of everything else, the acoustics are great too. Okay, the floor's open..... Here's another look at the place. See a show here if you can! Here's a pic of 311 playing the Tabernacle....this is about where we sat.
  6. Baba O Riley - Pearl Jam cover (live in West Palm Beach) If you listen real close, you can hear me in the crowd.....
  7. Maybe they drew their inspiration on where to place Goliath and Scream from a trip to Fantazy Land?
  8. I'm guessing he'll continue to be pretty tight-lipped about future projects. I talked to him for a while on Goliath's Media Day, and while he was very open about past projects, he was reluctant to speak about future possibilities......and rightfully so, I might add. So I'd say that questions about Alpy's "zero" car, or the inspiration for this or that stand a much better chance of getting answered than "What's going into BGW next year," etc, etc. With that said, he was a very pleasant man to speak with, and his english was much better than what I had expected. All in all, it was the highlight of my day without a doubt. Maybe, in the context of a professional interview, he'll be slighty more willing to open up about what's in store for B&M. Afterall, I really would like to know about this supposed "railgun" launch system they've allegedly been working on. It'd sure be a treat for all of us. I wish you guys at Ride World all the best!
  9. ^This park was part of Michael Eisner's severance package.
  10. I live 15 minutes south of Lake Winnie, and it takes me about 1 1/2- 2 hours (depending on traffic) to get to SFOG.
  11. Yeah, I think me and the camera both realized that at the last moment!
  12. Joe, when Shannon and I went back to get that last pic of the new Pipeline Plunge sign, I decided to get a pic from Oh Zone. The op had no problem with it, which made me wish I had thought to take more earlier. Here's Joe about to get owned by me and that little kid.......or is he? Not too bad, but it's unfortunate I couldn't time it with the train in view.
  13. ^ Wow, only 13 and an you appreciate the classics! Very nice to see. You made me realize I forgot to put Zeppelin on my list for some reason!?
  14. Okay, I think each one of us should go to our respective home park this weekend, walk through the front gate, stop and give a give a big sigh of relief in thanks for where we live!! Just think, that's actually really fun recreation for those poor kids over there. Bless their hearts! Thanks for showing us how the "other half" live, Dave. Scott "God bless the USA" B.
  15. Jimmy Buffett - anything the man sings Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - "Born To Run" The Beatles - "Revolution" and basically the entire catalog... Bob Marley "No Woman, No Cry" Frank Sinatra - anything he sung....face it, the guy could sing the phone book and make it sound good Dean Martin - (see Frank Sinatra ^) Morrissey "Everyday Is Like Sunday" NIN - "Wish" Don McLean "American Pie" Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter This could go on for a while, so I'll just mention a few other bands in general: Beastie Boys 311 - Their first few albums DMB - once again, their first few albums
  16. No. Does someone in here have a Steel Dragon fetish?
  17. I'll put in my vote for B:TR for the overall ride....and once again, the preztel as top element.
  18. I've been on 7 stateside, including 2 B:TR clones. 1) Montu 2) Alpengeist 3) Talon 4) Dueling Dragons 5) Raptor and since the other two are clones....then that would make #6 Batman:TR's
  19. I was just looking at memphish's $1,800 plywood from the Great Gasp, and it got me thinking...what would that old Pipeline Plunge sign fetch at a Ace auction? Sure, it's just Lake Winnie, but it's gotta be worth something for the laughs alone, right?
  20. That's very true. We are in the bible belt afterall. And that's a good thing, btw. But yeah, the park is definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.
  21. Well, here it is....my first official photo trip report. I admit, it may not be as exciting as Spring Fling down the road in Atlanta, but Lake Winnie's a great small park to take in on any trip to this region. Today's visit was great. The weather was perfect, the crowds were nonexistent, and my wife and I were able to meet up with a friend (and familiar face to most of you), and meet a new enthusiast as well. As far as the rides go, their whole selection of typical flats were open and running good. The Cannon Ball, a John Allen classic out and back woodie was running as good as ever in its 39th year. As it turns out, the front seat actually delivered the best ride on the train, with great pops of airtime throughout the ride. Finally, the Oh Zone, Lake Winnie's newest attraction, a 140ft. drop tower didn't dissapoint. For what it was, it was a fun addition to the park with a quick drop from the top rather than the typical holding pattern on most. It may not be a 400ft tower "down under," but definitely re-rideable. By the way, it seems as though LW finally decided to change a certain ride sign I thought was, let's say, a little peculiar on my visit a couple years ago. Anyway, on to the pics.... Enjoy. The old sign.....insert your own joke here. lol The new, "family friendlier" version, perhaps? My better half and I taking in the main attraction. A couple familiar faces to some of you. Good seeing you guys! Intricate theming..... I kidd, I kidd. Gotta love the old school hand brake operation! Exclusive Cannon Ball shot. Sorry, no boat chute pic...but here's proof it's the oldest in the U.S. Shannon enjoying a classic. The "museum" of sorts. Great to see this stuff displayed. Hmmm, not the Pebble Beach I remember...?? About $300.00 cheaper though. Luckily, it was not put down for losing the race. For the carousel lovers out there. About the only time I let Shannon drive.....again, I kidd, I kidd.
  22. McDonald's cooking grease. She was in heaven, but he couldn't help but wanna.....
  23. This thing just looks sicker everyday! Imagine what Disney and B&M could've done with the $100,000,000 they wasted on M:S. I really wish a US park could give us a "Nemesis/BM-like" creation. I'm officially very jealous of Germans now.
  24. ^ I think that's the key, Elissa. I was basically speaking from the point of view of the average Joe who doesn't get to travel the world like you and Robb. Don't take that wrong, I don't begrudge you anything, I was saying that if TTD or KK were in Europe, most Americans wouldn't have the chance to ride. Kinda like what Hercules said about the "forbidden fruit" deal....you always want what you can't have.
  25. It's simple. Americans are just too greedy overall. Sure, deep down, most American enthusiasts realize we've got good stuff, but we naturally are never content with what we got. Also, I always find it amazing how many folks are quick to slam TTD and KK (usually calling them one-trick ponies, etc.), but yet, if those two were in Europe, most of those same people wood be so jealous and wishing they could get just one ride on them. Scott "maybe we're all just too critical" B.
