  1. I was always under the impression that it was Buffalo.
  2. I'm speechless... and not in a good way. This is easily, hands down, the biggest sporting crime of the century!! This picture alone almost makes me regret I ever played this great game, AND comes oh so very close to making me consider never watching a sporting event ever again. The rest of the posted uniforms in this thread look like Armani suits compared to that hideous excuse for a hockey sweater. Scott "alternate sweaters started this craptacular trend....thanks Gary Bettman!" B.
  3. Kumba, any idea where kite-surfing truly originated? I can remember seeing some guys doing this in Fort Lauderdale maybe close to ten years ago if I remember right. I never stopped to chat with 'em but I can remember the funny looks they'd receive while trying the stuff out. I did some simple searches and it seems like it was a joint effort between some guys from Maui and Florida, but I'm curious if you know anything else? I'm thinking of trying this when I'm back home in October.
  4. goleafs, you wouldn't happen to be related to a Mr. Octane, would you? Just curious. And I'm kind of like Lou on this....the thread has gone so many different directions, and I've got so many conflicted feelings on just about everything posted, so I've just decided to watch from the bleachers while those of you with intelligent material continue to debate (you guys know who you are ).
  5. ^ Yes, but in his attempt to reach 1000 posts in a month with one line answers, we should really let that go and simply encourage him to reach his goal.
  6. Swingers Goodfellas anything Tarantino
  7. WHAT??? I hear skipping across landmines, and juggling live hand grenades is pretty entertaining too. Scott "I give up" B.
  8. ^^Not to take anything away from your accomplishment, but gliders.....extreme? Really? Would that classify the Wright Brothers as the first extreme athletes then? Just curious. Scott "I always have wanted to handglide now that I think about it" B.
  9. ^^ Used to from time to time. Kinda hard to do now in N. Georgia.
  10. I'm beginning to wonder....are there schools in Toronto, Ontario?
  11. Yep. When I think of clean, fresh water sources, the first place that comes to mind is always Newark.
  12. ^Speaking of which.....you're rolling in a Z4, yet complaining about a $2.00 train ride? Scott "sorry, just sounds a bit odd" B.
  13. ^ I guess they need to update their website then, including using a pic of their Hurricane.
  14. "The Summer Wind" - Frank Sinatra
  15. ^ I was really thinking Dio might have something to say about it too. It's been awhile since he's weighed in on a subject.
  16. Robb, thanks for bustin' these out! That was always my favorite part of NNTN ("Not Necessarily the News", for those who don't remember it), and I've loved these things ever since. I never had those books, but that list brought back some of my favorites. I could only remember a handful of 'em from the show, but anytime I'd ever try to use them, my friends would look at me like I'm a moron (they're partly right, but..). I actually called my best friend an "essoasso" one day a couple years back, and it had him wondering for a day or so before I explained it to him. So anyway, I'm probably just as surprised as you are that anybody remembered these!
  17. ^^ $10 for an all-day wrsitband.
  18. Dude, the EPSYs were ever any sort of great measuring stick. As far as Ovetchkin goes.....um, I'm pretty sure the new (stupid, did I say that?) rules changes had a little something to do with the insane point totals from this year. Remember, if the last decade had been like this past year, guys like Selanne, Jagr, Kariya, and Forsberg may be challenging all-time records soon.
  19. The "official DBH fanboy" approves of this Photo:TR. Very nice pics. I'm glad you got a good overview of that go-cart track too.
  20. WOW. NNTN!! Talk about a blast from the past. I can still remember my favorite Sniglet: The point of the melon which you do not eat past....The Melon Dixon Line.
  21. Congrats to the winners! Very well done. I flaked out and forgot to vote, so I can't really complain, but I must say I was a bit surprised that Mark Owens' Busch Gardens video didn't place higher. I thought it was very well executed. Oh well, just like any international competition these days, the Americans must be allergic to the gold medal.
  22. For a current player, that works for me. Go CANES! More like, go Skins Of course, but it will always be all about "Da U"!!
  23. For a current player, that works for me. Go CANES!
  24. ^ Yeah, he's right. It was inspired by the great northwestern lodges of the time. But, as with anything else at WDW, the Imagineers created a story to go with the geyser at the hotel (which shoots off like every 15 minutes or so, I think). When you check into the hotel, you're given a "newspaper" that gives all kinds of backstories about the different things you see in and around the hotel. This can be said of just about anything on property, but they spared no expense, and went into great detail with this place. Here's a look at the paper you get at the front desk: ^ Check out the caption under the hotel pic. So for those who are interested, gather round the fireplace, and uncle Beemer will tell you the Legend of Fire Rock Geyser Anyway, just a couple things about this place. First, it's by far my favorite hotel at WDW....and maybe the whole country for that matter. Given the size of the place, it's amazing how you feel sort of "disconnected" from the rest of WDW while you're there. Not to take anything away from the other hotels, but that's a refreshing change of pace. The trails around the grounds are nice and relaxing (they even rent bikes to ride around), and the pool is the most scenic of all of the WDW hotels. Finally, that lobby is amazing. The stream that runs all the way to the pool (which Soren showed) actually starts inside the lobby. There's a small bridge over it where you can get some great pics. I know Chip and Dale used to frequent this area in the mornings, which in turn, obviously makes it "Elissa-friendly". And the fire place is a great area to sit around at night, especially during the cooler december nights when the placed is decked out with Christmas decorations.....which reminds me, this is the best time to visit. The Christmas tree they bring in is enoromous, and it really looks great. Anyway, sorry to carry on about Wilderness Lodge, but I just think it's the best example of a WDW hotel you can find. And on a sidenote, no worries, Soren.
