  1. Wow the Browns are bad. Good thing I haven't wasted any time watching them suck this year. I've officially taken the year off as a Browns fans. I guess I'll switch to the Bengals.
  2. I second the differential equations class for mechanical engineering. Not fun at all for me.
  3. Holiday World Kings Island Cedar Point (for Coasting for Kids so I only rode 1 ride, Gemini, 105 times).
  4. Holiday World Kings Island Cedar Point (for Coasting for Kids so I only rode 1 ride, Gemini, 105 times).
  5. I'd love to work at a haunted house someday, or better yet to help design one. I think the key is a whole lot of nothing. A lot of suspense and big spaces of just walking down dark hallways between scares with subtle things like hidden fans blowing in cold air and soft creepy music. Less is more!
  6. Thanks, those are good pictures and should help a lot! I've converted all of the original Catia models to 3D XML format and uploaded them to 3D VIA. For those who are not familiar, 3D XML is a universal, lightweight XML-based format that enables users to share live, accurate 3D data quickly and easily. A free player is provided by Dassault Systemes (you will need to install a plugin in order to view our creations). The models come with no history, meaning you can’t see exactly how they were built, just what the end result is. One of the coolest features of 3D VIA is the ability to integrate high quality 3D models within Word and PowerPoint documents, which is as easy as dragging and dropping the 3D XML file into the Office document. This also enables users to view interactive, real-time 3D applications in a Web browser or stream them from a website. In fact, another great feature is the complete three-dimensional models can even be viewed on your iPhone! Check out the 3D models and project page: http://www.3dvia.com/users/ntweisen http://campus.3ds.com/students/project-showroom/go/project/catia-amusement-park-rides/ (Would embed the models here but couldn't get it to work. If you can figure it out please let me know how!)
  7. Looks like an RCT creation.
  8. My vote for lamest goes for Adventure Express at Kings Island. LAME.
  9. Well, I do currently have a job as a CAD engineer, so yes, but I'm not sure it would be something I want to do forever. It would be awesome to do CAD work for an amusement park supplier. The models are fully functional 3D models. I can do a number of cool things with them like stress analysis. I have started a model of Wicked Twister at Cedar Point. Does anyone happen to know what the dimensions of Intamin's track is?
  10. Yeah, I decided to do one support column at an angle but the same width apart, and the other support column vertical but at a smaller width at the top. It didn't take too long actually, just a few hours.
  11. These are some pictures of amusement park rides I have modeled in CATIA V5 for practice and fun. These models were then converted to 3dxml and loaded into 3Dvia. You can play with some of the 3D models here (even download them onto your iPhone) http://www.3dvia.com/search/models/ntweisen (need to install 3D player first). Start of a wood coaster. Waterslide Vekoma POV Steel coaster. Arrow style. Intamin Ball COaster
  12. I used to love building with knexs. I would love to buy a bunch of sets and go crazy. Maybe one day...
  13. That's really awesome. I hope I have the time and money to do that someday.
  14. I did a recreation of an Intamin zac spin/ball coaster in CATIA. Overview. Kirnu style. Station. Not done yet. Zac Spin CAD Model.
  15. In the end, it's all about money. Everything boils down to it.
  16. This has got to be the record for the worlds longest construction.
  17. Ok. Here are some pictures[/img] Slides Map Sea Dragon, Frog Hopper, and Jungle Trek Sea Splash tower complex Journey to Zanzibar swinging ship ride
  18. Yay, it's testing! Thanks for posting link. I can't wait to ride. I'm hoping to hit up this park to or from Niagra Falls.

  20. I swung by the zoo the other day and took some construction pictures. There is still a ton of work to do but the good news is it was 6:30pm on a Friday when I stopped by and they were still hard at work. It appears as though all of the major slides are done so the majority of work left to do is the ride side. Rides I could see: wooden coaster, swinging ship ride, flyers, and a log flume. Enjoy the pictures. http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb185/ntweisen/Zoombezi%20Bay%20Construction/ Looks like there are 10 major slides: Sea Splash tower complex (7 slides): Slippery Seals 3 body slides (dark blue, aqua, and green all starting from the highest point) Sea Snakes 2 bowl slides with one or two person rafts (orange and yellow and blue and yellow) Sea Tubes 2 raft slides loading on same level as bowl slides (green and aqua) Cyclone is the tornado slide (yellow and blue). Launching from the same tower is Tahitian Twister family raft ride (blue and black). Dolphin Dash is the six person racer. Sounds like a pretty good line-up for a brand new park. Hopefully there will be an animal element in the future like the Dolphin slide at Sea World's Aquatica.
  21. Sea Dragon is supposed to reopen with the rest of the park.
  22. Zoombezi Bay is the new water/amusement park going up at the Columbus Zoo on the site of the former Wyandot Lake. Since late fall waterpark towers have been going up left and right. More recently vertical construction has been climbing up over at the dry section between the water park and zoo as well. The log flume lift and turn around is well into the air. Supports for some of the other new dry rides are up as well. One of which we can only guess is for the flying scooters. Enjoy these pictures and video from 3.14.08: http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb185/ntweisen/Zoombezi%20Bay%20Construction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIprxN0U-JU
  23. Over at Coasterbuzz they are trying to put together all of the images. Here's what they got so far: http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/743/wherearetherestnh4.jpg
  24. Hey, i was just wondering how long it typically takes to do Beech Bend park in Bowling Green Kentucky? My trip idea now is to hit up Holiday World, Beech Bend and looking into a few other nonamusement park activities that my girlfriend will be into like Mammoth cave and Kentucky Horse park. We plan on leaving Ohio on a Friday morning and being back either sunday night or monday afternoon. Is it possible to do all this in that amount of time? Also, what order would you suggest visiting the places I listed? Thanks for any and all help or advice.
