  1. the area and headed to the Staples Center to see "Art Garfunkle Presents- "Six Flags Magic Mountain's 'Attractions Not Operating Today' The Musical On Ice". Elissa muttered "The skater's playing Flashback, FreeFall and Monorail aren't doing ANYTHING out there". Robb exclaimed "How realistic!!!" and Vekoma The Gerbil poked his head out of Elissa's pocket and . . .
  2. I did an internship at Disney in the early 90's. My degree was in Restaurant/Hotel/Institutional Mgmt, and I was placed at "The Leaning Palms" at Typhoon Lagoon. T.L was BRAND NEW at the time, I started work there on the 2nd day that the park was open to the public (tho I did get to preview it on the Innaugural Day.) It was restaurant work, and work is work, but just living down there for the summer was AWESOME (especially getting into all the parks for FREE with my Cast-Member I.D.) You will have a class to attend weekly (complete with projects) usually on your one of your OFF days at your job, but it IS SO WORTH IT. Living at Vista Way was just one day of fun after another (and I am not being sarcastic when I say this). If I can find my batch of photos, I will scan them and post them sometime next week with commentary. If you get accepted, GO!!! The job might just be so-so, but the whole experience is a BLAST.
  3. Not really in any order but: Hades The Beast Demon (2nd tunnel)
  4. Drywall Is Fun Drywall's A Gas A Donkey Is Funny But It's Really An Ass How lame is that??? (my poem, not the Alvey's new fixation)
  5. Saw DaVinci Code on Monday. I had read the book right after it came out and before it exploded into the multi-million unit sales, so I knew what was coming next (though I had forgotten a couple of little things along the way). The movie was a 7/10- 7.5/10. ANY actor could have played Tom Hank's part. He didn't do a bad job of it in any respect, but in his character, there is really not much that any "A" actor could not have done. Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, . . .etc. it really wouldn't have mattered. He neither adds or subtracts from the role. I WAS impressed with the French guy who is the head of Police in Paris in the movie, and with the guy who played Silas. The movie is shot with dark undertones and lighting, so none of the scenes jump out at you. If you have read the book, Ron Howard did a great job of interpreting it, however, also, if you have read the book, you will know already that it's more cerbreal and less adrenaline. Still, a good way to blow a few bucks.
  6. Ride this Beast right now Taste the pretzel when you fly Get in line again The words are dumb but if I could post them in Japanese Kanji characters, you would say, that it looks awesome.
  7. Due to an extreme (and free) last minute invitation from one of my best friends (who had a spare concert ticket due to someone dropping out at the 11th hour) I went to see INXS at the Rosemont Theatre(near O'Hare airport in Chicago) last night. Scott Stapp (former lead singer for Creed opened- didn't do too bad a job actually, tho only 3 Creed and 6 solo songs). I wasn't sure if I would like the new RockStar INXS lead singer (J.D. Fortune) but they put on a HELL of a show, and most songs he sounds so much like Michael Hutchence (R.I.P.) that you wouldn't notice that it really wasn't M.H singing.) They did a half dozen songs from the new album, and 90% of all the BIG hits, and were entertaining throughout. Really tight musically. Even if it hadn't been free for me, it would have been worth the price of ticket. Happily surpised.
  8. This reply may be redundant, but if you go to CP's website, they will actually post what rides are down for the day on the homepage. Hope this helps.
  9. This might sound more philosophical than I intend, but to really ride any coaster you have to trust the restraints. Even if you have a death grip on your restraints and they were to suddenly fly open, you would not be even 1% safer on any coaster featuring inversions. I'll admit, the first time I rode Deja Vu and was pulled back up the first tower I held on tight, but I soon discovered that that offered no extra protection other than peace of mind. Now when I ride DV- I let my arms and legs hand limp- all the way backwards up the tower. There are 3 safety fail-safes on this model and it's well worth riding. You have a 100000% more chance that it won't be operating than it to actually be operating and you fall out. Trust me, and trust the restraints, if it's working, RIDE IT!!
  10. Elissa was purchasing a gerbil from the vendor on the corner with the "Rodents R Us" emblem. After money changed hands the vendor remarked "You'll notice his head has been kinda bashed around a bit." As Elissa turned away she said "That's okay, I'm naming him Vekoma" Mr. Six, eyeing the action from afar looked away and muttered . . .
  11. I liked The Boss, but it CAN be rough depending on how you sit. Best advice I can give is to sit forward from the seat a bit if you can, sit in the middle and on the left side of the train. Rear of the train 'rattles' a good deal more.
  12. Kentucky Rumbler is a high speed thrill ride with sudden changes of direction and abrupt changes in speed. It is not recommended for children and for those guests who might be prone to seizures or psychotic episodes. Female passengers named Elissa may possibly be ejected from the ride due to the tight radius of the curves traversed. Groups of two should be decided upon before reaching the boarding platform. Thanks for riding and have a great day . . .
  13. No, unless you are talking about ambient room temperature vresus relative comfort. Would you drink a gallon of water used to boil hot dogs three days after it cooled to room temperature if your picture appeared on t.v. because of doing so?
  14. 40 mph doesn't sound like much until you think of it this way: Imagine being suspended above the floor maybe just a half inch or so- and then being instantly accelerated to 40mph from floating INTO the floor. Or think of it this way- Imagine someone with equal mass and weight running into you (without you bracing for it) at at average speed of 6-8 miles an hour while you are standing upright. You'd get knocked on yer keester for sure. Now, imagine someone four to five times your mass and weight (the effect of the G's) running into you at almost 5-8 times THAT speed. It lends itself to a different perspective. You'd get hurt for sure. Hope that helps!!!
  15. To me the philosophy of The Whizzer is this: It's like Vanilla- it's not the most exciting flavor, but you would be sad if it were truly gone for good. In coaster terms it's SFGA's version of a mine train- not that spectacular, but the kids like it and it's not a bad pause between the trip from Superman to Viper and Raging Bull. Having said this, (and even with this being my "home" park ((though still 75 miles away)) I would not wait more than 20-30 min at the absolute most for this ride.
  16. line for Flashback at SFMM. Although it did operate for one circuit for the obnoxious twerps from Mozambique ahead of them in line, it broke down as Six and Robb boarded. Mr. Six shook his head from side to side in disgust and disembarked the ride with Robb. All was not lost however, because The Six Man took Robb for a doughnut at . . .
  17. Hey Pyro, to answer your? about a traditional loop in the flying position- you would be thrown by gravity into your harness. This could very well snap your neck, and/or crush your ribs. I'll take the pretzel loop just the way it is where your back absorbs the brunt of the G-force. Hope that helps!!!
  18. I didn't snap a pic, but many can be found on this website, I thought Tatsu looked great with the "Close Encounters" spotlight on Media Day (night)!!!
  19. Diet Pepsi Diet Dr. Pepper Diet Mountain Dew Diet Orange
  20. Crash was the last "Best" movie I have seen, still need to rent "Munich" and am going to see "The Da Vinci Code". I read the book before it became so popular and I want to see how it translates to the Big Screen.
  21. PKI Coasters: In my opinion The Beast:- still a great ride, but it has lost something to trims over the years. Still love it though. Kind of mysterious because even if you know the layout, you cannot see the whole thing from anywhere in the park. Son Of Beast: Unnecessarily rough, but still worth a couple rides just for the loop (if it's open). Vortex: Beautiful to look at, a little rough, but not overly-headbanging. Wish they had padded seats to lessen some of the vibrations. The Racer: Forwards is better than backwards- but still a cool ride. Flight Of Fear: Better once they removed the OTS harnesses, but still a bit of a headbanger. Get on it this year, it looks to be down next year for a re-theming. Top Gun: Decent suspended, not quite as good as Ninja though it has a longer drop. Face/Off: Standard boomerang. Italian Job: Can't say, was not built when I last visited, heard it's worth a 30 min wait, but no longer than that. Adventure Express: The ride itself is pretty good, but the theming is kinda lame. Unnecessary in fact.
  22. No hablo Ingles . . .no lo entiendo.
  23. People who watch too many t.v. commercials, buy that 4 wheel drive SUV (that can climb vertically up a mountain) drive in front of me, and slow down 50% for a smoothly graded railroad track, when I can fly over it at the posted speed limit. Perhaps the bump would knock the cell phone out of their hands ???
  24. Not the Pork Shoulder n Ham Treat or the e-mail variant. Have you ever cooked a frozen pizza only to take it out of the oven and for it to fall topside on the floor?
  25. Not really. Have you ever been on a coaster and gotten a leg-cramp just after the ride dispatches?
