Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread
coasternut replied to OzCatter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Has somebody been able to get confirmation/pics on this? If true it sounds like B&M is going to have a good year I've ridden Prowler about 25 times in the past 2 days, and I haven't seen anything back there. I'm new to this park, and the turn around is so fast, but as far as I can determine nothing is back there or well hidden. I did see some truck storage containers back there, and I'm not sure if that's normal. Something maybe in there. Sorry I couldn't be more definitive. I've definitely enjoyed Prowler. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

The rides I had on it last year and this year were probably smoother than any of the rides I had while working at CP in 2007 and 2008, and the ones last year were probably some of the fastest I've ever had (this year I rode in the morning during early entry and it hadn't warmed up yet). And the paint job has literally NOTHING to do with how good the ride is. The only reason it's a partial paint job now is because it takes a REALLY long time to paint 6400 feet of track (Intamin box track especially), and it takes a LOT of paint, which costs a LOT of money. I know you have this apocalyptic view on everything involving Cedar Fair, but jeez. Skycoastin Steve that's untrue! I know how good Cedar Point can be! It truly isn't right now. Much to my surprise, other Cedar Fair parks are much better than Cedar Point. I had a GREAT TIME at Kings Island the same week I was at Cedar Point. Their other parks that I've been to recently: Knotts, Carowinds, Dorney Park and Kings Dominion are good too. I'll be at Worlds of Fun this weekend (never been there) since I'm working up here this week and it's across the street from my hotel. I just hope the new CEO - Matt can return their flagship park to it's former glory days. -

There are so many far better rides than M.F. It used to be my #1 years ago, but now it's not in my top 10 and nowhere near it. It's deteriorated over the years. The partial and bad paint job (or lack of it) this year underscores how it's been neglected. -
I totally disagree with your statement that C.P. is a better place to be. Over the past 3 - 4 years I've really enjoyed myself more at MM than CP. If nothing else you don't have the bugs at MM! I find the entire experience (yes this includes rideops) much much better at the Mountain. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it!

For me personally, I'd like to see a NEW COASTER (Breaking Wind doesn't count) at least every 2 - 3 years. This is a long wait for a new ride (a real coaster) until 2013. Bummer -

Okay, I should've said any new coasters. Those other "things" don't appeal to me. That also includes the "new thing" this year -- Braking Wind. I'm just a thrill seeker. -

Great -- mechanical lizards!!! Looks like 2013 before a new ride. What a joke.. Nothing since Maverick, which I don't like. -

Not sure if this was brought up before. It's not exactly new, but some may not know this. At Coastermania in June, the issue of SOB was brought up to "Big Dick" Kinzel. That same person stated (which I agree with) the success of the New Texas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas changing a woodie into a steel. Big Dick's response was (much to my surprise) they already spoke with Rocky Mountain Coasters about that change to SOB. The cost was 22 million dollars!!! He said they won't invest that kind of money in an existing coaster. That makes a lot of sense to me. Sounds like the SOB's days are numbered. Good bye... Time for something new. -

Agreed on the Nitro crew. My observation on the DB crew was related to the fact that the single rider line is now gone, and it really didn't impact my ability to ride that much. More often than not that crew is great! Yes, the GP does impact dispatches too -- especially the fat A$$es! -

I was at K.I. the past 4 days, and the "mechanical lizards area" was always empty. I wouldn't pay to see this, so I didn't. Not a good choice for the Point. The thing that you'll see will be the fast lane at C.P. Lot's of usage on weekends. -

I've been at Kings Island the past 4 days and I've got to say, I've had a GREAT TIME! Just about every rideop was friendly and efficient at doing their job. The crew on Diamondback (as usual) was exceptional! I really miss the single rider line on DB since I'm always by myself (now Fast Lane), but they move people through the line very well. It's nice to have a great park experience, which hasn't been the norm at most Cedar Fair parks. -

The past 2 days I've been at Kings Island and the rideops are like the Cedar Point ops used to be. They all enjoy their jobs, and actually started conversations with me while waiting. My visit to the Point last week for 3 days was a nightmare! I've really enjoyed my visit here at K.I. so far. At least I haven't had a lapbar slammed into my thighs. -

No this was the "pissed off" rideop's fault. She was in a mood, and took it out on me. The restraint system is fine, although a little difficult to enter and exit the train and I'm not a big guy. As I said previously, most if not almost all rideops are unhappy and show this to the G.P. This isn't my imagination, believe me. -

^^ I was at Cedar Point for the past 4 days (Saturday -- Tuesday), and found the staff to be the worst ever! It seems all the ride ops hate their jobs, and take it out us - their customers. I hope the new CEO Matt fixes that, since he comes from Disney. My worst experience was at Magnum where this one female rideop (for no reason at all) slammed the lapbar into my legs while I was buckling the seat belt for the empty seat next to me , and made for a very painful ride. She was gone on break by the time my ride returned to the station. There's no need for that... This park used to be great, but has deteriorated severely over the past 3 - 4 years. I grew up with this park so I know what it can be. -
They just sound bitter. Do they know how S:EFK works? If Superman isn't a roller coaster than neither is Wicked Twister by their logic. Just a bunch of cry babies! I've been at C.P. for the past few days on vacation and the employee attitudes are the worst I've ever observed. They just hate what they're doing. Not a good experience. M.M. employees are much better. I can't believe I'm saying this, but 6 Flags is a better experience all around.

That "smoke" you saw at launch is water / fluid in a trough to keep the cable cool. -

I watched the animation and it looks cool. It doesn't look like it's got any of the QDC's "quick direction changes" like Intamin has been doing lately with their new rides. I'm not a fan of those QDC's like Maverick or I305. This will be a nice addition to their list of rides. -

I too enjoy Carowinds especially Intimidator! Check the bottom of your foot. That may not be the only thing stuck to it.
