Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I like standup coasters, but not Mantis. It's layout is too compressed and delivers a lot of "head banging." It would be better if it was stretched out more. -
I was at the Mountain today. It was very busy... The old Deja Vu area looks naked. There were 2 guys picking up bits and pieces off the ground this morning. I observed this while riding "Pocky." I was able to process my 2012 pass later in the day. There was virtually no line. At the start of the day it was out the door. I hope Friday won't be so busy.

Mean Streak is my most despised woodie. I hate SOB more, but thank God it's not operating and probably won't be ever. It's the only coaster that I've ever hurt my back on.

It's amazing how fast the coaster is going up! There must be some special deadline, or they're trying to beat winter. I really can't wait for my summer visit. I saw in one of today's earlier pictures on Comet's lift hill they've got Santa and his sleigh... -

I'm speaking of coaster rides not just any rides. Yes, I'm an adrenaline junkie , and hence my bias towards M.M. -

Sorry I couldn't keep quiet on this comment. Here are the FACTS: The last "coaster" Cedar Point put in was Maverick in 05/07. Since then (05/07) Magic Mountain has put in: Terminator / Apocalypse, Green Lantern, Road Runner Express, in 2012 Lex Luthor Drop. That's why Magic Mountain is tied with Cedar Point at 17 coasters even counting the removal of Deja Vu!!! That's 4 new COASTERS since Maverick counting Lex Luthor opening next season. P.S.: I forgot the "reworking" of Superman in 2011 to deliver a different and in my opinion a better ride. -

Looks like a WINNER to me! I've always enjoyed my Hershey visit. This will make it even more enjoyable to hit the Hershey Highway! -

This looks like it will be a blast. I can't wait until next summer for my annual visit to Hershey. -

You are correct sir!!! I just hope they keep it free... -
Hey Guy, my job takes me all over the US too, so I ride all over. I too have been to KK (not a problem anymore), and had to pay. I've been to other 6 Flags parks (not my home park) at least 20 days this year. This chain wide parking would be perfect. If you find out anything, please post and I'll do the same.

Thanks for the info on this. I'll need to research that option. This season pass parking change has cost me a small fortune this year. I have mentioned to all the park presidents that I've met at events, that a 6 Flags chain parking pass would be great. I certainly would pay the extra cash for that. I've got my 2012 MM pass with parking already, but haven't processed it yet. Thanks.

Thank you! Beat me to it. Okay you two I get it. I only know how great this park can be. It was my home park when I lived in Ohio for 30 years. It's really gone downhill (in all aspects) in the past 5 years or so. If you think it's great now, you should've seen it before! No other park came close to it. Also the time between new coasters is unusually long these past years. One thing that's been great over the years is Coastermania. I hope it continues as it has been. Those are my points. I hope Matt O. (new CEO) returns it to it's former greatness. -

How many more of your posts are going to contain the words "Big Dick" or "Breaking Wind" in them and talk about how much you don't like Cedar Point anymore and your experiences at SFMM are much better? Since when are opinions not allowed on these boards??? I was stating a fact that C.P. hasn't added a coaster since 2007. That's a very long time especially for them. -

They are certainly overdue for a new Coaster. It was May of 2007 for the opening of Maverick. I'm not a big fan of that ride, but at least it was a coaster, unlike "Breaking Wind", Shoot the Rapids, or Dinosaurs! That's why I'm not a big fan of the Point anymore. -

My point about "Big Dick" is he was great in his day. His day has passed about 3 or 4 years ago. I hoping to see a lot of good things out of Matt. -

I see Sandusky gave "Big Dick" Kinzel the keys to the city earlier this week. Not sure what he will do with it. Please someone open that exit gate for him soon... -

I've never heard anyone say anything like that for any park, why would anyone object to something that would be there to make them safer? There are people who carry around weapons, and while I'm not saying park violence is a common thing, I'd rather wait an extra minute or two to know no one has any sort of weapon. And just because they haven't had any issues doesn't mean they don't need them. Don't wait until something happens to install them, install them right away so nothing ever will happen. Believe me, with the time I've spent in and around parks in my time, I've heard plenty of people comment saying "this is confidence inspiring" when the first thing they do is go through metal detectors and pat downs. And like I said, the extra staffing and cost of that infrastructure has got to be absurdly high. There are parks all over the place that have no bag checks/metal detectors at the front gate and remain perfectly safe. Just because one or two morons act like idiots doesn't mean the park should have to spend tons of extra money and man power in response to it. Punish those who do it rather than inconveniencing your company and future guests. I could go into a whole rant about how our country is too damn scared of the boogeyman (thanks to the fear mongering media), but I'll spare that one for another day. Steve, I've got to disagree with you on this one. If nothing else because of the number of guests entering Cedar Point, they need some type of screening. Your comment of "because of one or two idiots," look at airports these days and what has and will continue to be spent on security. -

I always thought it odd that Cedar Point didn't have any additional screening (bag checks or metal detectors) at the gate. Their other parks do. I'm sure that will change next season.
