We all know it failed for many reasons, but the bottom line it failed, no one went. Maybe it's the fact that I didn't want to drive from Orlando to Myrtle Beach to ride a B&M that's very similar to Kraken (not floorless of course) or a mine train that's a clone from other parks with an Eagles song playing. The RPM had a cool look to it with the concept art, but in the pictures, it just didn't measure up. I never had the urge to go there. It's only a six or seven hour drive, but I just didn't have that feeling to. Saying this, I flew up to Cleveland and hit Cedar Point for a few days and made my wife come with me last year. It's just all about the marketing, and there was non, the park just didn't draw my attention or my money to it. I mean think about it, when we want to go somewhere these days, we check it out online... Even their website lacked cool stuff that Wild Adventures in Valdosta GA has! Anyways, that's by two cents. I can see the coasters, especially the B&M, maybe going to Wild Adventures or even Old Town here in Orlando (land size permitting of course) but who knows. Dubai investors could take them pretty quick with all the parks going up over there!

Just like Wild Adventures! It's the Alachua County Fair, but with cement and a GCI! GO DAWGS! -
I went to a wedding back at that place when I was in college at Barton, the real school in Eastern NC! Back then, about 10 years ago, it looked like the place was heading for doom, but I'm glad to see that it's up and running. It's sad to say, but that's probably the most exciting place to visit in the area! Even, The City on The Rise, Rocky Mount, can't compete with this! Great TR and pics.

Ode to Brewmaster's Club
crazydaveh replied to Wood Dragon 1988's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As one of the last Beer School Professors at SeaWorld in Orlando and then Brewmaster's Club person, it stinks to know that they will all most likely close once InBev takes over. I know a few people who still work there and they are all looking for other jobs, as they expect to be cut or relocated somewhere else in the park. On a side note, you can still hit the Yuengling Brewery down in Tampa for some free good beer as it sits right next to Busch Gardens Africa. -
Wild Adventures GA coupon?

Don't hate on Gainesville just because we dominate in everything! Although lets not forget that according to ESPN Wild Adventures is in Titletown USA, whereas here in Gainesville we are inferior in athletics. Ole Miss what? The only good thing about living in G'Vegas, which I did for five years and no, I didn't go to UF, is that your're less than two hours from the parks in Orlando and or Tampa. -
Wild Adventures GA coupon?

I drove through Valdosta last weekend and I remember seeing some discounts on Wendy's cups. I don't remember anything about them, but that they were there. -
I was also at the preview and despite Bill and Ted being a total letdown, the rest of HHN overall was a lot of fun. I hit all but one of the houses (can't remember which one, it opened at 8) and my group had a blast. Some houses were better than the others, but that's always the case. Doomsday disappointed me, I was expecting more. I did enjoy the Bloody Mary house as well another that I honestly can't think of right now. I might go back, I might not, if I do, it will be interesting to see how different it will be as many of the houses were missing scareactors1

As much as I'd like to see a new coaster everywhere and every year, it's just not financially doable. SFoG put in Golliath several years ago, it's going to be a few more until they build a multi million coaster. The Monster Plantation/Mansion is fun, it's old school, and with Six Flags trying to market to families right now, this is an easy fix for them.

I remember going to the media/VIP event for Monster Plantation. I was a young pup back then and thought the monsters would eat my hat that night! I used to love MP! I haven't been on it in years as I no longer live in Atlanta, but will head up next year to experience the change. I think Six Flags is doing a great thing by redoing this!

Man, I can't believe you didn't like Gwazi! Sure, it beats the crap out of you, but it's a lot of fun! Montu is probably the second best interved coaster going, next to sister BGE's Alpengeist! -

It looks like you had a lot of fun out there! Congrats with facing the fear! Nice AVEr comment! Always fun to see the park I grew up with... I haven't been to SFOG in more than a decade. Sorry to hear you aren't a fan of the GASM! That was my first woodie and I'll always remember it! -
It's a good idea, but I just don't think $30 a person is worth it for a family of four to spend to see shows and ride the attractions. I love SeaWorld, I go all the time, but I don't see myself spending that much to see a whale jump out of the water! If they add an express pass to the front of the beer line and unlimited beers with the price, then it starts to become worth it even though it's AB beer!

Erik, I'm enjoying this TR very much, the best part, no Gator shirts in it yet! Keep the streak going! Seriously, great report, I've really enjoyed it. GO DAWGS! -
Photo TR - 2 Week Orlando Marathon

I've been to Aquatica many times, I enjoy it. Yes, the park needs time for the plant life to grow and provide natural shade, but so does most waterparks in their infancy. What will happen to Aquatica in the years to come? Who knows thanks to the backstabbing August Busch IV who sold out! -
If it's this dead during the summer, I'd hate to see it in the off season. I have not been, but would like to try it out. Living in Florida, we have not seen anything for the HRP. This is understandable, as I'm in Orlando, and advertising here is stupid for them. HRP should advertise all over the Carolina's, Atlanta, Virginia, and possibly Maryland and WV. I hope the park survives, they have a good idea that they can build on. I'd like to try it out soon.

Nice pics. Crazy how dead the park seemed to be. I'm thinking of heading down before the end of summer and who knows, it might be the last time down before the parks are gone! Hope not!

Your TR makes me cry because I was in Munich last year for Oktoberfest and I am really missing some Augustiner! Great pics! I'm glad I was able to ride the inverted coaster last year! I don't really remember it though, too many biers in the bier gardens! -

The Dive coaster looks like a clone or one that's almost a clone of Sheikra or Griffon at the Busch parks. -

I was drinking Belgium beer at SeaWorld Orlando last night, and while we were walking around, we noticed that all signage that said "American Owned" has been removed or painted over! I didn't take my camera, but will tomorrow if I head back down. Just a sign of what's coming. The employees in the beer house also all have the attitude of, "Who cares, I'm losing my job anyway" right now. Non seemed to really care anymore, after all, they have been told to preach Americanism through the roof but the power of money is stronger than that! -

I'd love to design coasters for a living, but too much math for me... I'll just stick to RCT 3! -
Quality pics! BGA is a lot of fun, with a great selection of quality coasters! I'm glad to see the "underwater coaster" was running! The only times it's been open when I've been there is on media days... Go figure! Great report! Now I want to drive down I 4 for some fun!

Six Flags Great America PhotoTR
crazydaveh replied to Paul Arthur's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great TR! I really enjoy seeing parks I can't get to, being stuck down here in Orlando. No worries about bashing the coaster, it happens. If you build a coaster and hype it, it better live up to the hype, just from the pictures of the coaster, it looks to be a let down. One question, did the watering hole there serve the good stuff (AKA BEER)?
