  1. Pleasure Beach at Blackpool - Old rides not found anywhere else, at least in Europe. Tibidabo - The Plane ride and Two-buckets-on-a-stick ride. Stratosphere Tower - All rides hanging from the edge of the tower. Phantasialand - Unique themeing to all of their rides and innovative concepts not seen anywhere else like a Spinning dueling coaster, Mystery Castle, River Quest...
  2. Moose, the oldest roller coaster of the park 'Ghetto-Galaxy' will eventually be removed because it's *really* old, is a nightmare to mantain and it's really loud and not that comfortable (although I find it pretty smooth). Ikari, the Zamperla Super Express is not going to be removed as far as I know (I work at the park). Why? The ride is popular with the GP and has no noise issues or whatsoever. I hope the Vekoma coaster is finished on time because the park desperately needs a flagship ride, and this coaster would be the best way to bring more people in.
  3. Today the park had the presentation of the new coaster for the Media and the Press. According to a Council article, the new ride might be opening at the end of the year after several disagreements with the locals: I've translated the article into English so that everyone can understand what it says: Source: BCN.cat Original article: http://w3.bcn.es/V01/Serveis/Noticies/V01NoticiesLlistatNoticiesCtl/0,2138,1653_1802_1_438876941,00.html?bcnAccessible=true&accio=detall&home=HomeBCN Next to the article there's a link to the official video released by Vekoma The article also features some shots of the coaster in action as well as some pictures of both trains (see pics below):
  4. ^She was lucky not to get her feet chopped in one of those low-to-the ground turns... and how could she possibly not have her feet in the restraints? I guess this is quite dangerous since your entire weight leans on the body harness...
  5. I think it was Flight Deck. TBH, Afterburn sounds much much better than Flight Deck. Good move CP.
  6. Nah, that land was cleared to make room for the Air Diver. The coaster will be fitted in one of the hilly sides of the park, with a ground-hugging layout.
  7. OMG! You made my day! :O WOW... I didn't noticed this video when I last visited Vekoma's website. It really has that Lisebergbanan feeling. Really low to the ground with a first great drop. I think it will become the new highlight of the park because of its location and because everyone will be able to enjoy - adults and kids alike. According to the park, it should be open by July-August 2008. So, expect some updates from this when I start working again there in February.
  8. Well, I think they have soft-opened it already or something because I watched a really long video showing trains cycling with some people on it. There was like a pre-opening (or was it the official opening) ceremony.
  9. But why? GIBs are fun to ride (at least Stunt Fall at PW). I know they are a nightmare to run but if this park keeps it in good condition (not neglected like when it was at Six Flags Great America) it will be a nice way to boost their attendance. Dunno, I think they are really impressive both to look at and ride.
  10. Kyle, I love how you update this like a million months after you did your last update But it was nice anyway... lots and lots of beautiful pics and you seemed to really like the park. TBH, Magnus Colossus double down is AMAZIng, I swer night-rides on that coaster are awesome and butter smooth And the dark ride... I think it deserves its own paragraph because I think it's amazing. As for shooting dark rides, this one is the best, although it has seen better days. It used to have fog all over the floor to look like you were like in a place far away from civilisation and it added a really nice touch, AND, you all made it to the final room cause the other looser exits no longer work (I am not saying you didn't do well, but after the first year the park decided not to use them anymore because people came off really disappointed after a 3-hour queue).
  11. Aww! Sweet PTR, Hector. I wish I had been on the Plane instead of infront of the control booth when Lou saw the window going down and freaked out LOL And I'm glad you wrote something about the Wave Swingers, because I think that they are pretty damn fast too. BTW, the Buckets on a Stick are not as deathy as you make out hahaha you just have to be used to the height and the tilting of the bucket It was a nice opportuniy to meet some of you (those who came to the Plane Ride ) though you spent little time in the park Well, maybe you could come back when the Vekoma Terrain Coaster opens next year.
  12. Wow Tom! Long and really nice PTR there! It was a pleasure to give you that lift to the park and even more to save your lives on the Galaxy Coaster hahaha I hope you really enjoyed the park and to see you around again really soon (well, hopefully next year when the Vekoma-credit opens). And yes, that Ferris Wheel is pretty damn fast... and the best thing is that, like the Plane Ride, the operator has to brake it as smoothly as possible (there's no automatic braking system). BTW: "Soy tonta" stands for "I'm stupid" and the dark ride's full name is "Magatzem de les Bruixes i els Bruixots" which translates into "The Wizarding Warehouse".
  13. Don't forget that Parques Reunidos is also running Parque Warner in Madrid... it seems that this company is becoming the European (or Spanish) Six Flags... getting so many parks. At least Parques de Atracciones and Parque Warner suck in terms of operations and they hardly ever theme any ride and just plonk them there... let's see how this take-over turns out... Hopefully, Kennywood will stay the same, but they also said that when they took over Parque Warner and then they have been trying to get ride of the old staff from the Six Flags era and not investing really much on the park itself, but cutting costs instead.
  14. Well, today I have been to the park and it was running great (with a couple of breakdowns) all day with a 2-train operation. I didn't know if I had to post this here or if it would be better to open a new topic, but I wanted to post this pic which is quite recent: Have you ever seen that level of damage on any other Intamin train? This is quite shocking to me because I thought that these harnesses would have been tested to stand the forces and to have people slamming into them without risk of being broken. Do you think this might have something to do with Baco roughness? (Notice this is a harness from back row, edge seat).
  15. Furius Baco - PortAventura Tibidabo Express - Tibidabo Batman: La Fuga - Parque Warner Abismo - Parque de Atracciones de Madrid Inferno - Terra Mítica
  16. Last reports say that Baco is up and running again... and the best of all, the park is working on improving capacity introducing the 3rd train. If lines already moved fast with 2 trains, I can't imagine how fast operations will be with 3 trains... this is 72 people every 4 minutes more or less... pretty good capacity.
  17. I was not sure if I had to post this info in the "official" Furius Baco thread or if it would be better to start a new one since this is not related to its construction. Well, it appears that after all the problems and headaches Furius Baco has given to PA and guests alike, the coaster will remain shut at least until next season. So yeah, people coming to PA with the main reason being Furius Baco, you'd better change your mind or change your dates becuase the coaster is not expected to open for the rest of the season. Why? In recent checks, the ride has shown signs of bad state in the foundations that were poured over the lake. So, the supports over that section are way too slim and weak creating too many vibrations that, as you might have noticed in reviews and on-ride videos, make the ride rather uncomfortable. Furius Baco closed on 25th September never to reopen in 2007. The park has decided to dismantle part of the layout (last turn over the lake) to rebuilt it and improve the ground foundations to give a smoother and safer experience. I am not saying that Baco has not been safe and checked on a regular basis, but it's not until now that they have found this problem. This is a big big bummer for the park since Furius Baco is already popular among guests and has been announced all over Spain and Halloween are one of the most overcrowded days in the season. People come from all over the country to experience the walk-throughs but also Furius Baco and when they find it broken down, it will be a nightmare for the park and for guests. Let's hope the park solves this problem as soon as possible and can get the ride running before the end of the season....though don't get your hopes up. On the other hand, the park will take this opportunity to add some other details to achieve an even better themeing for the ride.
  18. Not at all, Europe has the ISO safety law. The park has passed all tests every year with no exception, so those rides are SAFE. I can guarantee that since I run them. They might be old or look unsafe, but they are not.
  19. The best of all, I was the ride Op for the Plane-on-a-Stick (aka Avió) Those rides are only found in Tibidabo and they are so precious that the park wouldn't be the same without them. They are really really appreciated by the locals. BTW, the coaster DOES have upstop wheels, they are hard to notice though. And last, did you miss the other "credit"? "Tibidabo Express" (Zamperla Powered Mine Train), the suspended dark-ride "El magatzem de les bruixes" and the horror walk-through "Krüeger Hotel"? Seriously, they are some of the best rides in the park
  20. Hey Robb & Elissa... I am currently working as Ride Op at Tibidabo (little park you're visiting on the 4th July). As you know, the park has two small coasters (one which is not a credit because it's a powered mine train). Well, if you happen to find me, my name is Oriol...hope to see you all really soon!
  21. As far as I have read in reviews from people that rode it today, the back row of the train, far right seat is REALLY shaky, not rough-shaky but Vekoma-shaky... I still want to ride it as soon as possible
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd2woH1fi8k Testing video showing the train inside the pre-show area before being launched. For those wondering if that was caught at night, nope, it's a tunnel... and yes! it's pitch black
  23. Good news! Themeing is moving forward REALLY fast. If you thought you had seen the best part of the coaster, wait until you see the odd themeing added to the queue line LOL The storyboard of the ride tells that a crazy inventor created a machine called Furius to transport barrels at high speed with a fuel made from wine. Well, on early tests, the inventor uses test dummies that end up crashed, mutilated, etc. The best part of it is that there will be REAL TEST dummies on the queueline and you will see their state after being used for testing. Some of them are being put throughout the outdoor queueline. We don't know yet if they wil be animated or if they will just 'sit' there headless, arm or legless Should be funny, though Onto the pics: Despite the small pictures, you might have noticed that the legs of these dummies are made of broomsticks and so xD Can't wait to see the ride completed. At the moment, there's a structure being built right under the brakes (Emergency platform I guess) but some rumours talk about the possibility of being themed to a sort of bridge or small houses to hide the ugly black supports. Here comes a picture of it: And last... - First RIDERS will be the members from PA-Community that will have an ERT on Furius Baco on the 6th June. - On the 7th there will be the Media day for the press to test and review the ride. - On the 8th there will be the soft-opening for Season Pass Holders and finally the ride will be offcially open by the weekend Thanks for the pics to Rompe! BTW, the name is FURIUS not FURIOUS, so if any of the moderators can change the title of this topic it would be nice
  24. New photos of the coaster. Wrapped trains. We can confirm that the trains will be maroon-ish/purplish and that they are themed to wine barrels. First underground corner (after the launch section). As you can see, the trains will run REALLY close to the walls and ground... hope no-one gets injured. We thought that all track-work was done: NO! There's this little piece of track missing at the end of the launch track. Lake turnaround. And finally, this sexy pic of the zig-zag section between the underground turn and the hill crossing over the launch track. Source: PA-Fans.com
  25. Translation done by me to English: Source: El Periódico There was a photo along with the article:
