Plans have been unvieled for a stratosphere type tower in the city of Birmingham. If it goes ahead it would boat an impressive 7 rides at the top: 1. Top of the ride climb 2. 8 seat giant drop ride 3. Freefall parachute ride 4. 8 seat bungee jump ride 5. Seasaw ride 6. 40 flight training capsules 7. Gyro drop tower The tower would be 175 metres at it's tallest. http://www.rocinternationaltowers.com/index.htm

I've had some appauling food flying to California once. The "dinner" was chicken... Although it could've easily been a lump of fat. Coming home I bought alot of food from this supermarket and when the meals came round I didn't even bother opening it. I sat there eating a tuna sandwich. I do advise taking something with you. Generally airline food is dreadfull.

Lots of hidden Yeti's! The park looks so beautiful. I'll have to hit Florida one day. Oh and lucky you for getting to work over there, and free entry to the parks! -
Very good live. I'm not a fan of the first album really. Toxicity and Mesmerize are my favourites. Hypnotize isn't that good, but Vacinity Of Obscenity and Soldier Side are top. Banana banana terrocota pie!

Mini Trip Report, Thorpe Park, Sunday March 19th
Ed replied to martinb's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
You do realise there's a good reason Tidal Wave isn't open... It's about 10 degrees outside and you get soaked on that ride... Detonator is well better than any Intamin drop tower of the same size. Plus Thorpe can't build above the 130ft mark. Stealth was a one off for them. I'll be at Thorpe in... a few weeks. Hurrah! -

I do get the whole having the open body restraints... I just don't like them! My restraints didn't move at all when I went on it and I would've freaked out if they moved! Of course the ride is safe and with the lapbar you can't fall out. But for a member of the GP with NO knowledge of the ride at all I can see why was so freaked out. I know what i'm bad-mouthing. And i've seen the program with the Sky Swat in thankyou very much. Slammer is an un-realible piece of scrap metal that Thorpe should never have bought. -

Slammer's restraints are wierd. You have the lapbar which comes and locks over you from the side, not infront of you. Also the shoulder restraints don't have to be down for the ride to test, this is because they are pull-down ones like on some Schwarzkopf coasters. The girl had pulled hers down it didn't lock properly in place and it then rose again and wouldn't stay shut where it was suppsoed to. -

This ride is so unrealible it's ridiculous! On the same day one of the shoulder restraints didn't lock and the girl of 12/13 was screaming for the ride to be stopped as it going up into the air. The ride-ops were too busy dreaming to notice and she wen't round with only the lapbar secured. Considering she was only about 12/13 she must've been petrified and I know people who saw her coming off the ride, and they said she was completely white and crying her eyes out with her friends trying to comfort her. The ride has been a complete failure for Thorpe in-terms of reliability and it isn't even very comfortable to go on! Collosus has also been very dodgy at the beginning of this year. The ride is running over 20 seconds slower than it should. And it's barely made it around the course on some runs. Not to mention it's stopped up the lifthill twice in 2 days leaving people stranded up there for over an hour. -

Coasterbuzz people just don't like anyone. I don't get why the hell Jeff made that club up. Other than to pay for all his McDonalds bills. -
How many coaster (or ride) Shirts do you own?
Ed replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I own absolutely none. I don't see the point in buying something I personally would never be seen dead in. I would never wear a coaster t-shirt out in public. Maybe if someone bought me a nice one that doesn't scream geek on the side I would wear it to a park.. Something cute though like Chip'n'Dale for example I would be happy to wear... Probably not in public though. I tend to spend my money on fashionable stuff. Not something with "I survived ...." on the back.. Plus all the prices are ridiculous. -
Or the people that are smart and go there early in the day to get a 10 minute queue instead of a 3 hour one? Aslong as you don't up next to a chav it's all gravy!

Thorpe Park Stealth Construction Tour Photos!
Ed replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The ride has been handed over to Thorpe and staff were let on today. Early reports suggest quite alot of airtime on the airtime hill.... Although it's still not 100% clear if the ride will open after the "first riders" tommorow, it probably will now as Slammer opened the day after the staff were let on it. I saw them all go on and had to go back to Manchester the next day... ¬.¬ -
Thorpe Park Stealth Construction Tour Photos!
Ed replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thorpe just don't want anyone getting hurt. Take note Uk trip people: Anyone bringing a camera onboard without full concent from Thorpe will be taken off the ride and possibly ejected from the park. They are being very strict so people don't get hurt. The whole ride is around pathways and they don't want any stray 80mph objects! -
Ah well. I have the memory of this being taken.. Can I just say that the camera angle was slightly miss-leading.. That or Robb has photoshopped it so they appear closer... lol.
-
The ride has been handed over to Thorpe Park, but it will not be opening with the rest of the park. The ride it first winners will be the only public to ride it for a while. Numerous people have phoned Thorpe Park (because they have been crying at night) over when Stealth will open. And a quite few people have been told it won't open for a couple of weeks. With the Easter holiday's coming up I wouldn't be suprised if Thorpe wanted to make sure everything was working perfectly before the big rush.

Schwarzkopf coasters with alternative restraints
Ed replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sure those restraints are not good for your health. When The Bullet was still running going through the loop squashed you and the restraints down so you were crammed into your seat. Then it happened again as you went through backwards... ¬.¬ The strange 4-point harnesses Magnum Force has were ok I suppose... Alot of freedom, but they hurt my neck because I was so small. -
Lmao love the photos. Not Chokolad!! Exactly one second after that photo was taken I burst into laughter.

I don't normally feel sick on rides... But that kinda got to me because the whole of the outside was one big blur.. I think that was the point it suddenly hit me that it wasn't a good idea....
