I was slightly shocked when I heard this American accent coming from Tom's room! It was a very funny night. I hope you're coming over for future trips Elissa! Although I think we could leave out the physics part! And instead add in that I too have a lovely British accent! And i'm smaller and cuter than Tom. (Or so I think) Now TPR has seen my bedroom! And my braille sheets...

Ok that picture with the coffee and the toilet. Made me feel ill! The horlicks will be worse than that! Trust me it smells horrible. Horlicks and Ovaltine are the work of the devil! Oh anyone interested in knutsford.... http://www.virtual-knutsford.co.uk/

That looks really cool. Hope it all goes well!

Not much of a house Lou... and before you ask, Yes! that is in Stockport..
-
I can see my house! (joke) Haha that terminal looks so skanky. The British Airway's one is sooo much nicer than that. It's all refurbished and posh. Knutsford really is close. I see a bus that goes to the school there nearly every morning on my way to college! Just be glad you aren't experiencing the nearby motorway services.. They don't have a McDonalds! Infact nowhere does But the ones near Knutsford are about to fall apart. Haha oh I don't know... Stockport does has some classy parts... You just have to look very hard to find them. Shame you haven't got any time to see Manchester!

Don't get me wrong i'd ride it.. I'm just a bit miffed as to why there aren't aren't any leg restraints... On POV's i've seen of it you go down the drop head right? But to get to the that you flip forwards and in doing so your legs if you weren't pulling them in would go out and then at the bottom of the drop they'd like smack against the car... Maybe that's why X fell apart

It does seem to get alot better with age. It's hardly rough! The only time i've hit my head was through the last wingover. I was trying to talk to the person next to me though.. haha! Hmmm defo! My best air from the Zero-G is in the front right seat. The station is only a couple of feet from your arms! I'm very eager to ride Black Mamba this summer. I'm sure it will be an incredibly close call as to which is better. Black Mamba still has to have it's themeing put in and already it looks amazing.

Holy Cow it's been cold recently! And it's been windy so the temperature has felt like minus for ages! -
^ I like the top!

^ You've obviously never skipped school.. The amount of people who will be at Thorpe that day will easily make a 2 hour queue.

Nemesis was my first major rollercoaster and it really is a world class ride. It isn't the best, but it certainly ranks highly among many people. It has one of the strangest layouts as it continues to gain speed throughout the ride until it hits the loop The setting is amazing. In the tea-drinking english countryside they dug a huge hole and carved in Nemesis. With waterfalls of blood and supports buried into cliff faces. The helix of doom with a wire fence a matter of inches away from your feet and the jagged rocks as you pull down into the On-Ride photo section. (ORP got moved from before the corkscrew down there, it might be half and half) The last "wingover" is the most shocking part of the ride. Completely hidden from the queueline you only see what you went through as you walk over the exit ramp. It really gives a huge pull sat in the back right hand seat! The themeing was given the once over for the 2005 season with the rivers working again! (They stopped because of a burst water pipe for a season or two) No gum on the station wall and they added a single rider entrance. I'd say for me it was the 2nd best ride in the Uk. Topped by the Grand National. Hopefully I will get on Expedition GeForce this summer so

Good picture BB! That's how I think the ride is going to be, except I don't think that it will flip over, because the trains are huge it would be a mess with suuports... Although it could be done. -

I don't think this is true. The track experiences the same amount of force whether it is inverted or ontop of the track since gravity will always be pulling the train downwards. Also, due to the track configuration, the normal force will be the same in both scenarios. So Force = Mass X Acceleration. In both scenarios, the force the track needs to exert to remain in its original position is the mass of the train X 9.8 (acceleration due to graavity). F = M(9.8 ) in both scenarios, meaning there is no difference. Mark "I could be wrong since I'm still learning free body diagrams" Luskus Yeah.. Your right, I do mechanics and doing a free-body for this proved me wrong... Dunno why I thought that.. After discussing this with someone else, the two supports underneath the circle in the first picture I posted might hook up onto to the new A-Frame supports in the second picture. Another photo edit, in the red box you can see the top of the A-Frame support, And at the bottom i've marked the line between the two bottom footers. It's not angled the same as the box structure and I don't think lift supports would go across at an angle. I reckon Fuji-Q have gone for a more relaxed exit out of the raven turn and that it will swoop right. -
But you don't go down vertical drops on Floorless rides.. I suppose if you've been on it then it's fine. I just don't like the idea of my legs flailing everywhere.
-
I said they don't look safe.. Didn't say people flew out of them... Although a few select people are welcome to do so... Ok I see the jacket and purple thing.. But are your knees free to bend outwards as your going round? It just seems wierd to me that your legs are free to shake about..

Thanks for pointing that out, I guess they could fit a standard 4d train in there. The perspective is very tricky on the eyes. Yeah perspective always throws me normally! I think it helps if you can find something that you know the size of. Take the Cranes at the bottom of the picture. Looking at the footers: http://www.rcdb.com/ig750.htm?picture=24 At the bottom of the drop is 2 /\ shaped footers. I think they're the same as the things highlighted in purple. Also it looks to me that the rest of the lift footers have not been poured yet. You can see after the first 3 "mega footers" there are two empty circles. Looks a bit like wire mesh to me? In this picture after looking at it: I believe that at the top after the train exits the raven turn it will go through the big support, and then heads right using the new support ^^ I apologise if you want all photos uploaded Robb but it's so much easier for me to be able to put them where I want in my post -

Possibilities. There's loads. For example this ride could possibly have 20 people on either side and when the train gets near a support all the cars squash in close together to stop limbs flying everywhere. There's also reality which is looking at things sensibly. Having a 27 tonne train suspended from a track being pulled up by a chain? That's alot more stress than if the track was not inverted. There haven't been any mahor problems with X's lift (as far as I know) so why would they bother changing something which really doesn't need affecting. Taking a rather lame example but the Vekoma "Flying Dutchman" ride's don't go up the lift hills inverted, they could I suspect but they don't. (Some website said it was 27 tonnes so i'm takin that figure) -
Why do you support President Bush?
Ed replied to smells_like_team_disney's topic in Random, Random, Random
I agree with you... Sorta when you say they didn't invade for oil. However i'm sure they've gained some profits... So from freeing the Iraqi people from raping, murdering... They gave the Iraqi people Abu-Ghraib and "terrorists" from all over the world are held at Guantanamo Bay for many years before they either to confess to crimes they have't commited due to torture or they are let go.. Uncharged... Yeah BIG success there. -
I've only seen a couple of pictures of the restraints on the 4D... But they don't look safe at all to me.. There's no leg holder and they look kinda flimsy... How exactly do they work?

Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread

One seat on each side would be terrible for capacity. 14 people per train if they keep the 7 car length... I very much doubt that. Fuji-Q already has huge queues for rides like Dodonpa. Imagine this at 800pph? (Half of X's) As for closeness of supports: http://www.themeparkreview.com/ca2002/ca02_01.htm Look how close some of the supports come on X. They can't really be made any larger. The supports would have to be huge seeing as they have to be a good... 7/8ft away from the ride atleast..? When it's inverted of course. Having lift hill footers that big would be appauling. Plus to hold the huge stairs they would need supports going over on both sides.
