  1. I had a half launch into an immediate stop on Hulk. It was unpleasant.
  2. We have all seen people trying to do very dumb things in life but I do hope these accidents were accidents. If someone did it on purpose I hope they are hunted down and thrown off a freakin cliff. Ok just kidding about that part but it does make me pretty mad that individuals that don't know how to behave can ruin it for sooo many people. Harry Potter is a success in every imaginable way for all of Central Florida. To continue to argue that point is more than a little confusing to me. Even though they have now completely ruined DD, Potter is a total win for Universal and will be for a reasonable amount of years. It doesn't have to last 50 years, although I think as a book series it will, to be a huge success for the park.
  3. ^ I bet it's still scary as hell though. My cousin and I experienced the good old fashioned total restraint failure on the Flying Daredevil at Circus World. He was able to push it all the way up as we entered the station. That was a long time ago and he really didn't seem all that freaked out by it, he simply held on to my fully functioning restraint through the loop and laughed his ass off. Many years later we rode Weiner Looping there and while fully operational lap bars were had by all it was still quite a bit more harrowing.
  4. Not to mention the wider base for rotation. It has been compared to the outside seats on Dive Machines, that's probably pretty close to how it will feel. The visuals should be pretty cool. As far as Dolly's ride goes, I hope it will be more like a hyper layout. Honestly if it looks anything like Thorpes ride I will not be very interested. That layout is for Thorpe and I would rather not see Dollywood get someone elses coaster. It's so easy to pump out clones of rides and advertise it as firt one around here, I hope for something better with this concept. The Inverts are mostly the same way in that many of them are so similar. Personally I am hoping for more terrain versions and something a little more spread out and faster.
  5. This is what you do. Go to the Port Authority bus terminal and hop on one of the daily busses to Great Adventure, easy as that. They take you to the parking lot and come pick you up at night. It's cheap and convenient. Then proceed to ride El Toro and ride until you feel stupider. Nitro And Kingda Ka are both very fun but Toro is king. Take the New York Subway to Coney Island, It's a cool trip on it's own. My sister and I went down at midnight and it was spectacular. We were in Manhattan and the trip took about an hour it seems. The trip to Great Adventure will be about 45 minutes. The busses do come a little before closing but not too bad. If you can do it, buy a Fastpass unlimited. Mine was like 80 bucks and very worth it. That place can get very busy. ...and yes you want to stay the weekend, it's NYC man!! Oh, the drop on Cyclone is killer in the back.
  6. ^ It probably will work out just fine. Skyrush looks perfect to me. A more hilly coaster world is a better coaster world.
  7. Cool photos. I love critters and you have some nice shots, love the tiger photo. Theme parks, roller coasters and turtle love baby!
  8. First of all, who said something bad about Kumba, that's just not very nice, (as my niece would say), and un-American. I also liked Gwazi more with the PTC's but only for a front car ride. I have had some awesome laps on Gwazi in those old trains.
  9. I ride Orlando's Star Flyer all the time, I can't imagine the Windseekers being as dynamic of a ride as it is. I will check out The Windseekers soon but it looks much tamer than Star Flyer to me. When the Star Flyer opened here, people wouldn't even ride it. They would ride the 390 foot Slingshot that sits next to it but not the swing. When I rode the first time I was alone on the ride and it was the first day of operation. Star Flyer to me seems like a thrill ride for sure but Windseeker looks a little more like an observation tower that spins faster. Windseeker does look beautiful over the park though. For a real good time, pick a windy day and ride single in a tandem seat on a Star Flyer.
  10. I would be thrilled to have those inside seats in Florida. It's a hyper so all will be good in my eyes. It will be very interesting to see how the train rides compared to other more common Intamin trains.
  11. Anything they would do to seperate wing seats would also seperate groups from each other. Hopefully it will be able to run smooth enough. Maybe they could have signs that suggest ways to decide if everyone wants the wing seats, Rock paper scissor, pick a number, fight to the death etc.
  12. "My prediction is that this lands just behind MillForce in the Mitch Hawker top ten, then falls down to just above Blue Fire around 12-16th spot in further years. The ride looks real good but lets wait and see what Dolly has up her sleeve. My feeling is that Dollywood is going to deliver big time. I know I heard mentions of an east coast trip that would include many of these new rides so I am holding off on making any plans.
  13. I love the layout too. I wish there were more rides built around airtime. Those outer seats are gonna be quite fun.
  14. I can't get it to load either. The ride sounds really fun though. I haven't been following this thread very closely but Wing walker is a big surprise. Ok, I see now that just the one seat is floorless. I don't know if I get the need to do the trains that way. I get that the wing seats will be a blast but are there really half of the people who would prefer a non floorless seat? Seems to me that it will cause delays in loading. People having choices doesn't add up to efficiency.
  15. A shooter in Tampa might be a touchy subject, I mean look at the CH fallout. A dark ride does seem logical, something with a nice pre-show to give it a longer " ride time". Any Florida park to build a hyper. I have always quietly hoped Disney would build a fifth Orlando park for teens and thrill seekers. That's a lot to do on a vacation but people do stay out there for a while. I think if Disney set out to build thrills they would do a nice job. They have the pockets to build something awesome. Obviously they have considered it and have never pulled the trigger but at this point they are running out of stuff to build. On a personal note if I can't get to Dollywood i will be very sad.
  16. Wild tangent warning!!! That pizza buffet is just comical. I have been meaning to try it for a while and finally did, it was bad, very bad. Good concept done badly. The salad wasn't awful and I did manage to eat 3 slices without getting sick so not all bad. Last complaint, why is it you can create awesome shows and rides and not a decent soft serve cone, seriously. Cute dolphin. I love Seaworld and Manta is from Jesus. Brilliant rides on Kraken last night as well.
  17. Hey Robb and Elissa, thanks for the small events. It will be cool to get a little taste of some sweet sweet TPR, mmmmmmmmmmmm tastes like doughnuts.
  18. There are many cool parks in Florida. I think Seaworld over delivers and is one of my favorite places in the world. A week at Disney would be more than enough time if coasters are your main interest. I would suggest looking into one of the flex ticket options for the other parks and spend a week at Disney. I-drive in Orlando is a total yourist trap but it's also quite a lot of fun. There are a number of fun things to do and they are generally open after the parks close. On I-drive you could get away with not having a vehicle and still get to all the parks offered on flex ticket through walking and public transportation. Between Universal, Seaworld and Busch Gardens Tampa you will find some of the best B&M coasters around. These parks all offer great coaster line ups. People on these boards will help you have a better trip. Give as much info as possible.
  19. I was out there yesterday and will probably go back tonight. Having a pass to Seaworld is so cheap it's like stealing. The coasters are really pretty good and serve as a nice fix once or twice a week. I was just thinking while at the park that for one penguin encounter needs an upgrade and for two, Seaworld would be well rounded to add a dark ride. I was surprised to see the screamscape update today. Obviously they should build a Hyper instead but I would be happy with a dark ride. I will have Quick Queue, the beer sampler and a chicken fajita sub please. Later.
  20. For a guy who grew up in Huron Ohio, It's been way to long since I have been to the Point. It looks like photographing windseeker could become a past time all it's own. Really cool pictures, I enjoyed them. Toft's rules the world but growing up I ate a lot of ice cream from the Red Barn, I ate a lot of everything from the Red Barn. CC is now on my bucket list. The year Maverick opened I got some pretty good tacos somewhere back by the ride. They were pretty cheap and quite good. I miss Cedar Point.
  21. It is very good at night and the front is better for sure.
  22. ^ I agree about the water park, that makes perfect sense. It would be a lot easier to sustain than a full scale theme park and seems like a very good place to start.
  23. Miami can only have as big a park as they can support locally. It will always be a problem to draw people away from Orlando. Where would you go? It's a pretty good hike to get down there. I think they would have to build one hell of a park if they are thinking Universal scale. It would be awesome if they could move the Hurricane but I don't give it much chance to happen. The DBH wasn't around long enough to have enough sentimental value to justify the cost. I think I heard Cypress Gardens had 5 million in Starliner , at least Dania Beach Hurricane is a great ride. They will build Orlando Thrill Park before this happens.
