Fun Spot America Discussion Thread

I think what we end up with will be better than Starliner, At least I hope so. I was really looking forward to Starliner and it just wasn't very fun for me. The only woodies I have enjoyed in Florida Were Dania Beach Hurricane and the Flying Tiger. Both of those coasters are long since gone, that's why Fun Spot is is my new best friend. An Orlando woodie is sounding great to me. I think we will end up with a smaller woodie that's a good solid ride. Waiting to see the actual design is killing me, I can't wait to see what GCI comes up with for that space. The L-shaped out and back seems like it will hold as the over all design but I can't wait to see what they pack in there. The Moser Gyro Loop they are trying out is good clean fun. I am pretty anxious to see the other Flats they add. The Screaming Swing will probably be set up similar to hot seat at the Kissimmee Park. I hope they don't move the Paratrooper, it's current location is pretty cool. Anyone have a guess at what the steel coaster might be? -
I was thinking as well that all of LC would be lost to Potter, it makes perfect sense. Except that from a crowd control point of view, I think the Jaws pad is better. Jaws was a good people mover and the new ride will have to be too. Makes sense to build more of a family thrill ride since it is replacing one. If it is Potter related and good, they will make money hand over fist on it. Potter at IOA was a bigger hit than they were expecting and Jaws was an aging and expensive attraction. I think they are only doing what they have to do. There is no way you can leave that money on the table. I was sure they wouldn't require people to buy a 2 park ticket to see Potter but they have concluded there is more money to spend. They can absolutely sell more merchandise simply by building more stores. The share holders will love it. For me it's not looking very exciting but that's what Busch Gardens is for. It does look a little more dark ride than coaster, which probably is the right thing to build, but not the indoor Intamin woodie that I wanted.

I really liked the Potter ride but I was expecting a little more from the Kuka arm as well. Obviously it is capable of so much more. Roll it down the track and do some big parabolas with the arm or something. That being said I think FJ is a great ride. I can see how the ride platform could leave an enthusiast a bit under-whelmed. The Potter expansion seems to be shaping up just like many of you thought it would. If they actually build a train I will still be surprised but not shocked at this point. For a potter fan that would be a very cool theme park experience. Seeing Hogwarts for the first time after a train ride from London would be pretty cool. I like the sound of the new ride. Hoping for a nice poppy little launch and that the Bunny Hop is better than the one on Mummy, which I very much love. The scenery will obviously be awesome. The train ride, if built, will be very interesting to see. What they have learned from Kong in California can certainly come in handy here. They could just have scenery on window mounted screens until they get to the main show area, dementors/cold/patronus, all done.

Would B&M ever consider building a wooden coaster. That would be a cool surprise. Pre-fab B&M woodie. Otherwise just do the right thing and build a longer El Toro with more twisty stuff at the end. The thought of any of the existing B&M's coming to the Point is pretty blah to me. My actual guess is 4D from B&M. -
Ferrari World Discussion Thread

If you want to ride FR get there quick. Unfortunately the days seem numbered for Ferrari World. It's only going to get worse as the desert beats the crap out of everything. I think it will be near impossible to make enough money on the place to keep it looking nice. You never know though, good luck to them. -
^ The Mountian Dew thing occurred to me at Shamu stadium last night, I do love a nice cold Sprite though. Tilikum is very noticeably absent from the show. The folks at Seaworld have to be sweating that whole thing big time. Anyone on this forum would be lucky to get the healthcare that whale is getting right now. I have been making a point to visit the penguins even though, you know, they smell like fermented bird crap. I have been courted with by a penguin at Seaworld her name was Lily and she was lovely. She was apparently quite into me, so I got that goin on.

A third coaster at Universal would be great no matter what it was...but, it seems like with so few opportunities to create variety that they would consider something else. Maybe JK could loosen up a little and have the bank chase be on a wooden track. A highly themed full sized indoor woodie would be very cool. It will be pretty interesting to see what they end up with. I can't think of any other Potter related rides besides the bank dealy...and I have read all the books. Maybe a launcher based on the floo powder network. An outdoor coaster is out of the question IMO. A multi launching coaster/dark ride that took you to the other iconic places from the books where you travel from place to place using the floo powder network. That could be a cool ride. You will presumably be protecting Harry in some way.

Well, I stand corrected. I didn't think Universal would require a 2 park pass to see Potter. I guess they have fugured that those folks still have money to spend above the current offerings. The merchandise sales have been awesome so they are probably on to something...and it will obviously help with crowd control unlike HRRR. The bank chase ride, although cool sounding, seems very similar to Mummy. Can they build another coaster /dark ride and have it be unique enough?

Nürburgring launched coaster

^Good point, that's probably pretty likely to happen. Has Ferrari world had any periods of success or is it just a matter of time before it closes? -

I hope the Hurricane manages to roll again, very good ride. I hope they just go ahead and announce the thing already, geeeez. Ok, with a late February opening when can we see some land clearing and some concrete. Generally how long does a wooden coaster take to go up? -

We should allow GCI to forget about Gwazi by never ever mentioning it again. I expect it will be a little bit bigger than Wooden Warrior but hopefully something along those lines. WW is a pretty coaster. I hope there is a picnic spot next to the construction site. -

I will take a 2500 foot GCI and be very happy...and in love. Where are the dozers? -

^I agree. I am watching this thread a little too closely I think. Fun Spot has a good idea here and I really hope GCI gives them a Great Coaster. < That was an accident at first. A good wooden coaster there would be a Huge win, really for the whole city. Something everlasting about a ride on a wooden coaster. I myself have been watching a lot of GCI POV's lately. With the screenshot probably being pretty accurate, can anyone give a guess to length. If the lift hill ends up closer to the 100 foot mark it's gonna be pretty fast. You have to do something with all that good momentum don't you? I wonder if we will get a good twisty drop. -

I am liking the sound of this so far. I am really considering getting a pass for Fun Spot to show em a little love. Club Orlando meet ups for marathoning a new woodie sounds like good fun. -

^ I am still hoping for a little more fun than Big Fun. The Big Fun coaster does look very cool though. I think an Out and Back would fit their property a lot better. I would anchor this new park with the best woodie I could afford but 3 million for BF is hard to beat, and concept wise it's perfect for Fun Spot.
