Fun Spot America Discussion Thread

It would make it more difficult to inspect the ride structure. With the america themeing it would be a cool centerpiece though. This is probably one of those things that seems like a good idea when you're sitting around a table and dreaming. On that note this must be a freakin blast for the owners. Costruction will be in full swing by the time our lovely fall weather comes in. I need to find a good picnic spot. Hey Fun Spot people, you can ding my Fun Card for 3 bucks (same as a Paratrooper ride) for a nice view of White lightning construction and a place to lay down a blanket. -

^^ Thank you Judy, stop by anytime. I know the folks around here are excited about the growth of your park. The staff out there seems excited too. I am still curious if it will be Splashtacular or someone else. Please please add a Kangaroo flat ride Those things are way too fun to be so rare. ^ I think you're right about that, it does make sense that the structure itself would have to be visible. As far as WIndseeker goes, I would like to see them wait until they can get the Star Flyer down the road for cheap, that thing is always empty at MM and it would be a cool fit for FSA. -

^ Special promotion: Lightning does strike twice, double rides on White Lightning!! I should add that in a conversation I had with an employee I heard the Skycoaster would be made to look like the St louis Arch, I guess they plan to add a skin of some kind. As far as what will open first, that would be the double decker carousel, it's already open. As far as the major attactions I would bet the big go cart track will be open slightly before the coaster. They were going to start construction on that already but have decided to do it after summer. That alien fun house has been sitting there for a while. There is also a Statue of Liberty on top of the sign that I dont remember being there before. The Screamin Swing will be pretty cool, between it, WL, and the paratrooper one could have a lovely little time. I would love to find out if Splashtacular is still involved in the waterpark. The slides they were planning at first were world class looking but the most recent waterpark render looks like something from a hotel. I know they have gotten the ok from the city which leads me to believe they are causing the delays themselves by re-thinking the project. -

^ That layout is different but they just seem to be moving the pads for the flats around some. I don't remember seeing the list of actual rides before so that's new too. The Paratrooper still looks to be the best flat they will have, not that great of a line-up but it will still be fun. The project has taken quite a few twists and turns along the way, especially with the waterpark. Looks like the Splashtacular deal has hit a bump of some kind. My thought is they propbably changed the scope of the waterpark part of the expansion and placed the extra funds into the coaster. I was out there yesterday and the double decker carousel is installed, they also have the Skycoaster pieces out in the field. The SKycoaster looks used, is there one that has been sold? No news on the coaster other than to say ground breaking should be soon. The go cart track will be demolished soon as well making way for one big track that can have 42 carts on at once. The also removed the small carousel in kid spot and are taking it to the other park. -
We took a very late night trip to Coney Island a couple years a go . From the midnight train ride from Manhattan to the 1 am rides on Cycloine, a very weird experience. Quarter bathrooms and bar soap, a puker right the F*** in front of Nathan's and you can't imagine how bad I wanted that hot dog, The Warriors, and the above stated "operations" on Cyclone made for a memorable experience. Still to this day I haven't had a Nathans hot dog. Cyclone itself, I thought was a blast.

I stayed at the cheapest room at Breakers and had a great time. I took my own bedding and some ozium but it was really cool to stay right inside Cedar Point. I will be going later in the year and will request the tower but would gladly stay in Bon Aire. I am looking forward to camping there sometime as well. -

^...and it's not wood. Maybe they could work the seagulls into the name. I am hearing mostly praise from people who have ridden WIld Eagle so I'm sure it will be a good ride. That area of the park will look a lot better. Again, not an anti WR thing but I have to admit it seems a bit uninspired. How much longer will they go without a great wooden coaster. -
Imagine getting on one of those Kangaroo rides without having any idea of what it did. The one at Cypress Gardens caught me off gaurd but I don' think I have ever laughed that hard... well since I was nine and saw Richard Pryor for the first time. They should be more common, maybe sell a kit that has one of those and a freakin Intamin woodie.

I was by the park today for Paratroopering and a burger, pretty good burger actually. No signs of anything happening except a small plot has been cleared by the additional parking. Maybe temporary parking or clearing for the green track expansion. Not any sign of what will grace the land by March of next year. For you folks not good at math, that is 10 short months. I will gladly roll out my tools and the Highlander to help them get started if they need me. The Splashtacular signage has been taken down and is sitting on the floor. THe waterpark may be pending some expected success from phase one. I'm doing my part, 10.50 for the burger 6 bucks for Paratroopering and 2.25 for basketball, I always stash the tickets I win for someone to find so be on the lookout. -

I love this sooooooo much. When you think of the parks in Orlando it seemed we would never get a proper woodie, this is phenomenal. -

I completely disagree. Wingriders have tons of potential and will only get better. They are the hot ride for this decade. They will be more like inverts. Every park will want one. Here's a video to watch. Depends on what they can do with the layout & elements as to it's staying power....one thing that disappointed me with the DM's for instance is the lack of loops probably due to the width of the train) kinda like how standups & flyersare/werelimited in their inversion offerings due to the train design/rider position. I have seen that video and to me it's pretty impressive. I agree that a 4D could be cool if it was smooth and flowing. I'm looking forward to riding Wild Eagle in July and don't hate the WR's I just want Cedar Point to build a woodie on the beach. The current Wingriders are pretty boring looking to me. Wild Eagle looks like a better ride than the others but mostly because of location. I think without building a working and enjoyable 4D, these are pretty limited. Would a hyper be cool...probably but I don't know if the trains could take it. Cedar Point is a very fine park but not having a great wooden coaster experience is a huge hole. It seemed like now was the time to take care of that glaring weakness in their line up. The woodies are here to stay for certain. Fast lane is going to continue to rise because right now it's a little too cheap. At that price it was gonna be a little too popular. Iv'e gladly dropped the 80 bucks at Gadv. two times. Don't tell Cedar Point that though. -

It's always interesting when the Point is getting a new coaster. Strap in, it's gonna be a long summer. -

Thats good to here. Thanks for the update. -
I did experience some of the negative aspects that people have described but I know they will work it out. I spend a lot of time there and it never dissappoints. The visual aspect of the dome is pretty damn good, you can see real potential here for future attractions. Looking forward to Summer Nights. Awesome time for locals to get out and enjoy the park. The automatic flex pay option for Seaworld and Busch Gardens is like stealing if you're local.

^ Taking out Waveswinger is not the direction I am looking for. Seems like very wierd timing, maybe it just broke. I love Waveswingers and would hate to see it go. With Fast Lane you can actually take time to ride the old rides, I would love that. -

Well that is dissappointing to here. I was convinced they would build a legitimate wooden coaster, hopefully they still will. It does seem unlikely they would just spill the beans like that, smokescreen perhaps. They could do a 4d I suppose at least it would be different. A dive coaster would be a lot better if they had to go with steel. I think Dive and Inverts are here to stay and Wingriders will go the way of Standups. There has been a rumor of a Dive Machine coming for a while and it is a winged coaster. I'm sure they will build a nice coaster that people will enjoy but I would like to see them blazing the trail. It's time for the Point to build another world class coaster. If you are gonna copy something have it be El Toro. Advertising wise the Wingrider would probably generate some buzz but a top 5 woodie would become a landmark. It will be interesting to see how the new guy thinks about the park and it's legacy. -
