  1. ^ WHAT THE HECK?? I don't know what I was expecting to replace the Zipper (even though it's not on the exact spot), but it definitely wasn't THAT! I mean, I guess that it's okay...
  2. There's lots of good information here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/welcoming-you-backThe first two weeks of operation are for hotel guests and passholders only, and reservations aren't available just yet.
  3. I wonder when they will eventually let daily ticket holders in. It will probably be at least a week after opening and likely longer with the high amount of passholders.
  4. I'm not sure if anyone has thought about this or brought it up, but I have to wonder how racing coasters will operate when parks reopen, especially those with a continuous loop.
  5. It looks a like a good park. That darkride would definitely make it worth it for me. It looks really well maintained, especially compared to Frontier City's semi-clone. I watched a video of it and saw very little movement. And this one came first!
  6. Uh... this is kind of silly. I mean, there isn't a single human in the ride, so what do they think a new theme would do? I understand that some of a dialect could be considered offensive (though I've not once thought about that), but that should be a simple fix. A comprehensive re-theme with Princess and the Frog animatronics would cost lots of $$$.
  7. For those who don't know or need a recap: 1930s: Park is nearly closed for development but is saved by the Depression. 1994: Park is slated to be replaced by a FEC (and the Blue Streak demolished). All of the rides are AUCTIONED OFF, but a few specific people buy most of them and the land. 1995: Park doesn't open. 2006-7: Park doesn't open. 2008: Massive fire destroys ballroom and much maintenance infrastructure. 2013: Fire destroys Beach Club. 2014: A planned sheriff's sale is put off when the park files for bankruptcy. A recovery plan is developed. 2020: Park doesn't open, hopefully for good reason. This is just another part of the story. They will get through this.
  8. 31 roller coasters have opened in Japan since 2010. 51 have closed. Of course, the majority of new Japanese rides have been kiddie/family rides, and while most of the rides they replaced weren't big, they were often more unique than their replacements. Just for comparison, 37 new coasters opened in the US in 2019 and 21 closed.
  9. Two years ago, I would've said to bring back the colors on the Jack Rabbit station. Now I just miss the neon, which was replaced with similarly arranged LEDs last year. Great pics BTW! I would've loved to have ridden Steel Phantom if just for curiosity's sake.
  10. Your pictures are amazing! They are way better at capturing the feeling of the ride experience than any distant picture of a support structure, no matter how nice those may be. I even recognize one group of riders on Untamed from the April ACE coaster calendar picture (not the place, I know...). Two thumbs up on the report!
  11. Just a random thought - this kind of goes without saying, but I'm sure that the number of people who were "upset" by Orion not being a "true giga" has decreased substantially.
  12. The major rides that are gone are the previously mentioned Zipper, Rock Star (1001 Nachts), Freak Out, and Rock-O-Plane. The two small kiddie coasters aren't listed anymore, and all of their 6 or so Zamperla kiddie rides aren't listed. Besides the Zipper, I don't really care about any of these changes. Even if they screw the rest up, I'm glad I got to hang out here so much last summer... And if they cut back on certain things, that could maybe mean the renovations to Pirates Cove/Haunted House - possibly a good thing. But I bet they're really hitting themselves for okaying this huge renovation with the situation right now. Whatever that article says about "deterioration," the carousel was kept in immaculate shape.
  13. Cool stuff! I can't wait to ride GhostRider and Montezooma (never been on a Schwarzkopf shuttle before) when I eventually get out there. And I've subscribed to your YouTube channel!
  14. This really surprised me out of the blue. 11 attractions?!! I don't know if they're kiddie rides or what, but the park probably barely has 11 adult rides at this point. I worry that they'll get rid of some of the wonderful antique Mangels kiddie rides in the building with the carousel. If nothing else, they MUST keep the Haunted House and Pirate's Cove. Hoping for the best!
  15. Even as a park full of "6 out of 10" rides, I am super excited to visit Magic Mountain at some point this year. I assume your rating for X2 was at least 9 out of 10 from your description; did I just miss it? Fun report!
  16. Oh no! Like others have said, this place was very high on my to-see list, so I'm really sad that it's appeared to bite the dust. I guess all we can do is pray...

Show us how cool you are by posting a picture of yourself on a coaster or in front of coaster. Bonus points if you're holding a sign with a number on it like the nerd you are.
  18. I have a one day shot when my high school goes to Universal in April to try and make this an epic credit #100. This report doesn't exactly make me confident, but I have hope!
  19. Oh well, I'm glad that I got to try it a couple of years ago. It wasn't one of my favorite flats, but I didn't hate it either. The theming (fire, fountains) was honestly the best part of the ride.
  20. Had a fun time at the park last night, so I figured I'd share a short TR. My dad and I arrived at about 10 to 4 and did Dominator first because I wasn't sure how close the Fastlane queue got you to the front of the line (it actually drops you right in the station). Great ride with no rattle in the back row and some nice air off the mid-course brakes. We then walked back to Twisted Timbers and rode twice, both times with a station wait. I think it's interesting that the metal detector plays no function here and just makes an annoying beeping sound every time someone walks through it. I mean, you don't even need to pull out your cell phone! They do hand you a card that has instructions, including the important warning to not pull your own lapbar down. Even with this and four employees checking restraints, dispatches were 2-3 minutes... but they were running two trains! This was my first ever ride in the back row, and right into the first drop I felt the effects. Wow! The overbank turn is truly awesome, especially with the little airtime pops that both precede and follow it. The triple camelback is airtime heaven , the cutback is good, and I felt a good amount of "snap" coming out of the double-up and the outerbank. When I would later purchase Fastlane, I got to ride Twisted Timbers 8 more times that night, which increases my all-time laps on this coaster by five times! This thing is amazing in every sense of the word, and for a person like me whose track record barely tips 100, it's a top-ten ride. From here, we just had a great rest of our day. Turnpike, Bad Apple (my first experience with a Troika), and Flyers would all occur. We also sat in for a few minutes in one of the "song-and-dance" shows, but we soon left because there were coasters to be ridden. Also, Fastlane was a VERY good choice on this day, even at $45 (pricey considering what you get), as the TT line reached 1.5 hours during the night. I felt bad walking that long stretch of queue past all of the people standing in the normal line... I was usually able to get a complete ride in about 15 minutes, so I heard a lady mention "That's the third time!" when I walked by at one point. Oh well, I guess I got my money's worth... As always, the Singing Mushrooms were awesome, too! Winterfest was a whole lot of fun, even on a busy Saturday, and I'd like to return sometime. I hope you enjoyed this report, even it was mostly just me rambling about TT! One more note: Out of the rides listed on the website, Berserker was completely closed and blocked off, so that must've been a mistake. The carousel also didn't run all night, I guess because it's such a high-tech atraction. I deserve a complete refund of my Fastlane, which promised "eight attractions!"
  21. I too am a big fan of the parks in Great Old Amusement Parks. Visiting all of them one day would be a dream! Surprisingly, only Whalom and Astroland have closed since that documentary was made.
  22. The Mondor darkride uses the same trackless system as Kennywood's Ghostwood Estate shooting ride.
