  1. ^So your coaster count is like 21, 22? Right?
  2. As there is no Costco near me here in Nashville, I let my membership lapse, so that option is out the door. I signed up to be a Lagoon Funtime Member. How often do they run specials? Is it likely they will have a few before my trip on the 9th? Not that the General Fee is bad, just that I am shelling out a bit more for the car rental and Hotel and I would like to see if I can save a few pennies on entrance. No big as I'm still going anyway. Just here's to hoping. Also, as it looks right now, I'm doing this one Solo, any locals going to be there on the 9th or 10th and wouldn't mind having a tag along? I can't find much about their Halloween event on line. Do they do any kind of Pre-Scare dinner? Do they have any kind of VIP experience? So many questions. So little time.
  3. ^I would very much like to see that done to Mean Streak.
  4. This is hands down one of the best TR I have seen in a long time. This exhibit looks amazing. Any chance it might tour? I would love to see it here in the States.
  5. ^Wait! When did Cyclone ever make it into the top 20?
  6. I guess time will be the great equalizer. I hope not, but it will be several years before we will truly know.
  7. ^No hate man, and I appreciate your opinion. However, I respectfully disagree and think that the last time I was there it felt like Universal was just phoning it in. I don't think that I was even startled once. And the removal of Bill & Ted has left a very sour taste in many ex-patrons mouths. I always go VIP to these events and USH falls dramatically short with the single front of line pass. While the paranormal backlot adventure is fun, it is the equivalent of maybe 3 Skeleton Key rooms. I am usually done with the park and ready to leave before 10pm. Even if I wanted to go revisit a maze, I would have to wait in a 2ish hour line. And I don't do that. Where as at Knott's, I can revisit the houses at will if I want, there are more shows, and I can hit up the Skeleton Key rooms again if I want. And the Special Ops adventure is quite the unique time, not to mention very entertaining and at times jumpy. I think that for the value, Knott's is a much better deal. If I only have one night while I am in town working, I am going to spend my money where I feel I am going to get the most value for it. And as for me, that would have to be Knott's.
  8. I promised coaster poetry, and I shall deliver. Ode to the Loch Ness Monster (clearing throat) ahem, ahem Nessie Oh Nessie You make my pants Messy Thank you! Thank you! I'll be here all week.
  9. Sports drinks are pretty much no better than sodas. Water is always your best option. Just a few of many medical research articles about sports drinks. http://healthyeatingresearch.org/database/#42,t=Sports%20drinks,p=1
  10. ^This! I have been sorely disappointed with USHs Halloween offerings for several years now. For reasons you have mentioned as well as others. IMO their event is not worth the general admission compared to the other events. It's been pretty much the same old same old since 2012. Personally, I think Knott's has been out doing them for a while now. This year will make 2 years since I have had the pleasure of going to an LA halloween event. The last time I was there I went to 3. Haunt, Dark Harbor, & HHN. I always get VIP as I hate the lines, but all in all I thought USH was the most expensive upgrade and least worth the money. Whenever anyone of my friends out there ask me about which event to go to. For the last 5 or so years, I have told them that Knott's is the best as far as I'm concerned.
  11. I think I like the silver too. But copper would've been nice.
  12. Sooooo... ...Here's my plan. I fly in on Friday October 9th and arrive at 1pm. I pick up my rental car at 2pm. Drive to my hotel and check in at 3. This leaves me 2 hours to get ready, eat dinner, etc, before gates open for their Friday night Halloween event. I plan on closing out the park Friday night, having a nice midnight meal, then crashing for the night. On Saturday, I plan on heading back at opening for several more hours of daytime park enjoyment. Leaving between 5 & 6 to catch my 8pm flight out to Vegas for work Sunday morning. Who's with me! Joey, this includes you! I'm trying to strongarm Dan into making the trip, but as of this moment he's being a pussy. And anyone know of any discounts that I might be able to put to good use for Friday and Saturday?
  13. WHAT?! No Coors Light?! Looks like I'll just have to hop on the Closest Carnival Death Trap and get my real bier fix.
  14. ^Did you meant to put this in the Knott's thread? If so, Modern Looping. I think 100+ years is a bit out of the modern time frame. If not, then... ...nevermind. Hmmmmmmmm! Deja Vu? Couldn't be, they moved that to 6FNE years ago.
  15. ^Did you meant to put this in the 6FMM thread? If so, Modern Looping. I think 100+ years is a bit out of the modern time frame. If not, then... ...nevermind.
  16. Man I'm learning so much today Loop actually refers to the shape of a line that begins and ends in the same place. So in actuality, a corkscrew in coaster terms, where it is an inversion, is not a vertical loop. Here endeth the TPR Geometry lesson. ^There is also a difference between an open loop and a closed loop. But honestly, it could be considered a looping coaster. (Cough) Jeff Johnson! (Cough) Except it is fully powered, and doesn't really coast.
  17. I'm crying tears of joy! Oh! And sign me up for the Old Geezer thingy! I waited 5 hours to ride that thing opening day. I would love to be one of the first to ride it on reopening day as well.
  18. ^All I know is the first place every Jew wants to go after Temple is Six Flags Magic Mountain. Ask Joey. I think it's actually a Los Angeles Jewish by law. Here in Nashville they all descend upon the Grand Ole Opry. You ain't heard country music till you heard Yiddish Country. Mazeltov! Straight outta tha trailer park!
  19. It is gonna be awesome having 2 brand new RMCs within 3 hours of my house!
  20. I didn't realize this park was smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Interesting that no locals have complained about noise levels?
  21. All this talk of classic coasters have renewed my love of coaster poetry. I feel I will brew up something spectacular after this Saturdays first entry! God! My creative juices are flowing!
  22. ^It doesn't take much to make my sphincter pucker. In fact, I clench my butthole all the time. It's good intestinal yoga and allows for proper blockage and release control during life's little unexpected moments. But the ride looks great too. I will have to stop by on one of my San Antonio or Houston trips after it's finished. I actually think I might be down near there at the end of October. Hmmmmmmmmmmm! A quick jaunt may be in order.
  23. If I ever owned a park, I would totally go out of my way to find one of these and install it. Still one of the greats! I have such fond memories of my first ride on White Lightning at Carowinds. My Dad and I waited for what seemed like forever to ride in the front. When we finally got on the ride, it didn't launch properly. We rolled out to the loop, made it about a half way into the loop and then rolled back about half way to the station. The ride ops and maintenience people had to walk out to us on the catwalks and push us back into the station. They unloaded the train, reset the ride, then tested it once. Then they loaded us back on the train. I was terrified! I remember the ride op saying over the intercom, "OK, Here goes nothing. If something goes wrong, you all will be the first to know. Lightning strikes now!" And he launched the train. I have been in love with shuttle loop coasters ever since! I secretly pray for a rollback anytime I get on any coaster.
