  1. One thing to keep in mind the park will close Copperhead Strike early for 50 nights for their fireworks and drone show, so if you want a night ride on that you need to figure out when they will be closing it. With that said Fury 325 is a great night ride and would be my choice as the one not to miss at Carowinds.
  2. According to Queue Wait times, Lightning Rod has been down most of the week. Is this correct? Anyone been at the park today or this week to confirm if this is the case?
  3. I went opening day and talked to a manager about this and they said it was removed. The reason they gave was people were breaking the rules , they were going through the single rider line and then inside of riding with the person they were assigned they would wait for other members of their party in the single rider line to come up to the station and ride with them. Seems like a couple of bad apples have ruined this for everyone. I'm sure they can revisit in the future but for now it doesn't seem like it is an option.
  4. Not at the park but I saw a posted wait of 190 minutes of GhostRider. It is a great ride but no where near a 3 hour plus wait.
  5. Wildcat needs to go or have RMC come in and fix it or maybe the titan track can address it. It was not a good ride at all during my trip earlier this year. I found Lightning Racer to be the much better GCI, but it isn't anywhere near an elite GCI, so I could see Hershey move away from it for a water park expansion.
  6. The way Dollywood has set up the single rider line for Lightning Rod is really great if you are willing to use it. I don't remember it being that way in 2019, the last time I visited the park, but I was able to lap Lightning Rod at will over the past 2 days. Crowds were light on Friday. Park was busier on Saturday but not as busy as I was expecting for a Holiday Weekend.
  7. The dispatches on Candymonium are not quick. I notice the same thing earlier this year. They ran 3 trains and basically didn't dispatch until the 3rd train was already around the course. The only time they were successful keeping them moving is if they had 2 certain ride ops checking restraints, they did better, but once one of them took a break or operate the control panel, the dispatches took forever.
  8. Last Saturday: Ravine Flyer II- 20-30 minutes but was getting longer as more people left the water park. Only ran one train. Steel Dragon- 15-20 minute wait. 5 of it was due to a breakdown. Wacky Shack- 15 minute wait Other 3 coasters- 5 minute wait.
  9. I went to Kennywood for the first time today and came away impressed. Phantom's operations were quite good as was the ride. I got about 8 rides on it, most of them late in the day. My type of ride with all of the air time. And they really pushed those trains through. I actually went to Steel Curtain first and was on the first train of the day. They opened it about 30 minutes late. Felt it was a bit slow but I really enjoyed that one air time hill. They are running one train and it sounds they will be doing that for a while. They managed the line well as I came back later in the day and rode it again after a 60 minute wait. Second ride was an improvement. One of the inversion as quite whippy. This is my second favorite ride in the park. The 3 woodies were overall much better than Hershey's. Of the the three I enjoyed Jack Rabbit the most as the air time from the double down in the back row as outstanding even if much of the rest of the ride was average. Racer was better than expected but it was the one coaster where the ops could improve Saw a rollback on Sky Rocket. They had to evac riders. First half of the ride was good, but the second half was pretty weak. Only rode it once. It was about what I expected. Exterminator had a long line but I rode it as a single rider so it was spinning a lot.
  10. I went yesterday after going to Coastermania. I was in the park for 3.5 hours. Didn't see anything similar to the video. I saw a few cases of kids trying to jump the railings but they were not cutting in line, but rather being stupid. Ravine Flyer II is a great ride so I'm glad I made the stop.
  11. I came from California to visit on Saturday and Sunday. It was actually closed on Saturday. I had to change my plans and go to American Dream, but I went on Sunday and it was completely empty. Got on everything besides Kingda Ka. Only had to get off Toro when they cleaned it. I stayed for about 4.5 hours.
  12. I will be interested in seeing how the extra rows and slight changes in profiling the ride have an impacted it compared to RailBlazer and Wonder Woman. I have rode both of those a bunch and really enjoy them. I will be going the second Saturday in July. It is a nice park, been once before in the fall so I'm looking forward to Aftershock because that wasn't running in my last visit.
  13. I have yet to get the rollback, but TTD has been 50/50 in terms of running when I have been in the park. I seen plenty rollbacks.
  14. I'm going for the first time this year but from my understanding it is pretty standard that they pair Millennium Force with the B&M's. I believe in the past they paired Dragster with Magnum and Steel Vengeance with Maverick, but they are giving 2 hours for Steel Vengeance, Maverick, and Dragster at least. I'm glad those 3 are at night and the Millennium Force and B&M's are in the morning. Just hoping for good weather.
  15. Hopefully this is back open by the first weekend in June. Making my first visit to Kennywood and frankly riding Phantom's is higher on my bucket list than Steel Curtain.
  16. FL+ in 2019 was great on Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster (If Open), Raptor, and Valravn. It could be great for Magnum XL-200 if Cedar Point puts a greeter at the merge and that greeter only allows a few people to go up and not let the station turn into a free for all. I've seen it handled both ways. For GateKeeper and Millennium Force FL+ is not as good as the other because of the merge, but the value is still there for these coasters because it will save you time. Sounds like it changed for Steel Vengeance in 2021.
  17. Did they change Top Thrill Dragster? In 2019 the FL+ boarded in the front loading station and the regular line boarded in the back loading station and only boarded up front when FL+ line was empty. I didn't go last year so this may have changed. The merge never happened in 2019. It was more like Valravn.
  18. I went to Knott's last week for the passholder preview day. It was nice to get back on the rides as I went to a couple of the food events they put on. I got in the park 30 minutes after my reservation time. This was 50% due to LA traffic and 50% of it being a bit slow entering the parking lot. The times on the app were not correct when I entered the park, which was strange as Knott's generally does a good job with that. So I skipped GhostRider first thing. I got a few rides on XCelerator and Hang Time. Both were walk-ons and the front row of XCelerator had basically an extra cycle wait. XCelerator ran 2 trains as well. I got like 5 rides on it. I did go back and do GhostRider. It had about an hour long wait. They were filling up from front to back and granted my request for a back row ride. I got rides on a few of the other coasters before heading back to GhostRider to close out the day. The wait was only about 25-30 minutes, but this time the greeter didn't grant the backrow request, so it was kind of hit or miss with being able to choose your seat. I did do lunch at Knott's and the line for my food was pretty short. Getting a seat was more of a challenge. I never did Berry's Tails because the line was a bit long. I did go in the shop which smelled great so I can only imagine what they did with the ride itself. Overall I thought Knott's did a real good job for the passholder preview event.
  19. I went last week during the week for the first time. I got in the park at about 11:15. The first 2+ hours were great. Got 3 rides on Twisted Colossus, which was running all 3 trains and never had more than a 10-15 minute wait. I rode it a fourth time later because I had a skip the line pass. I got two rides on Batman since it was a walk on, and one ride on Scream. After these 7 rides I went down to West Coaster Racers and Apocalypse and skipped Apocalypse because the line was crazy. I did ride West Coast Racers and that line ended up being almost a hour. They didn't queue indoors which was expected. At times they put one party on the ride, and other times they just put people every other row, so for about 20 minutes the line didn't move and then they seem to use every other row it moved a little bit faster. I used my other skip the line for Tatsu, and after that I got a ride on Viper which was a walk on and 3 rides on X2 where I waited between 15-30 minutes. The line was really 15 minutes but the normal X2 breakdown occurred and they sent 3 empty trains. On the way out I checked Full Throttle's line and decided it was a bit long for my taste. I didn't get any food but those lines did look long. Overall the park did a good job other than the one person who was only putting one party on West Coast Racers. It was odd to see a single person riding it. They did do a good job checking the reservation times upon entering and it was easy to get the skip the lines. I did spend a little time looking at the construction of the potential new RMC coaster. They are making good progress so I'm hoping we don't have another West Coast Racers in terms of timing. Overall I'm glad I gave it a little time. I have another reservation later in the month.
  20. Currently it would be 2190 miles. Incredible Hulk or Dragon Challenge would be the coaster. Although in a few weeks it will be either a coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure, or Casino Pier.
  21. I am in the same boat. I missed out pretty much that same time frame other than going to a few Florida parks, and a few coasters in Vegas in the early-mid 2000's. I would say missing out on Volcano & HyperSonic XLC at Kings Dominion, Big Bad Wolf at BGW, and Batman and Robin: The Chiller have to be a few that I regret missing out on.
  22. I don't think the POV really has told us anything. You can't say that all of the POV's were filmed in the same condition, with the same amount of people, etc. I think it will take riding it to truly determine any differences. I just want to see how the I-Box track makes a differences in the experience for me. Lightning Rod and Outlaw Run to me felt a little different than the I-Box Track. It wasn't quite a smooth and had a little bit of an edge to it. I am interested in seeing how the change in track changes the experience on Lightning Rod. I don't think that will come down to the speed of the ride or the launch and it really won't be something I can judge until I ride it. Honestly I fully expect Lightning Rod to still be an elite coaster and remain as one of my favorites.
  23. I'm guessing Coastermania tickets will be sold later this year when compared to other years. The more information the park has, the more they can play the event. They should sell out rather quickly so it is no harm waiting a little bit.
