  1. I owned an '85 CJ-7 in high school and loved it. Since Chrysler took over the Jeeps I haven't paid much attention. I guess I like 'em classic. I am still deciding on my opinion of the new FJ Cruiser. I still think I'd rather have the old FJ. Scott "proud honda owner since 1996" Moore
  2. --Your 2005 year in review: Not too many parks or coasters; I switched from a normal day job to selling P&C insurance this year. It's been tough, but will pay off soon. --Your first coaster of the year: Screamin', MMadness, or Matterhorn. --Your last coaster of the year: Canyon Blaster @ Adventuredome. --Best new steel to me: Unfortunatly it is Silver Bullet, but that is by default. --Best new flat ride to me: Belmont Park's (like LaRev at Knott's) --Best new dark ride/walk through to me: Haunted House downtown San Diego, for Halloween --Best park "moment" of the year: Freaky e-stop on Soarin' at DCA. Poor ride op was clueless we were supposed to evacuate due to a fire drill. When some other cast members ame into our flight area they were frantic and all of us who were aboard the "flight" rushed out panic style. Totally unexpected from Disney, and fun as hell once it was over. --Best overall park "trip" of the year: No trips this year. My only vacation for pleasure this year was NYC, and sadly not during Cyclone's season. --Worst new attraction (any kind) to me of the year: Silver Bullet. Nuff said. --Best event at a park: Solace, again by default it wins. --Best non-event day at a park: Drunk day at DLR. I was kidnapped by friends, forced to drink too much , and had an absolute blast. --Best non-park related moment of the year: Shins at VeGoose, sunset set. --Favorite TPR post/thread of the year: Homosexual poll, Asia trip, Julie's PTR's, and of course Coasters on the moon. --Best Amusement related news of the year: Announcement of Voyage. --Worst Amusement related news of the year: Astroworld closing. I used to go quite a bit growing up, and wasn't able to return in time to say goodbye to one of my childhood friends . --Hopes for 2006: CAC (if M&D decide to do it again, I'm still pissed about missing it this year), Holiwood Nights (never made it to SRM), Zingo! (I'll be in my hometown Tulsa to help plan my HS reunion, but with Bell's hours it might not happen.)
  3. Counting down... Love these updates, thanks!
  4. LOL on Intervention^ Gotta love that show, and yes, it boosts my self image as well. I love my Cox digital cable and DVR- no complaints what so ever. I, however, have never had satellite except for a short 9 months living in a Frat. in Lawrence, KS. Then bad weather = no TV, but NorCal and NE Kansas are a bit different when it comes to weather.
  5. I see too many shows. I'm addicted to spending my money on bands and booze. It's fun though. Semi Recent Highlights: Depeche Mode- At Sports Arena here in San Diego; I was taken by a friend at the last minute when he and his date split before the show. I forgot how many pre Violator songs were staples. They kept playing these songs I totally forgot about, and hadn't thought about in years. It was a huge, fantastic suprise. Trey Anastasio- At 4th & B, in San Diego as well. In high school/early college I spent a lot of energy enjoying Phish and made some incredible memories, and Trey played a very Phish friendly show with lots of Gamehendgy goodness. It was much better than the Vegoose set I watched over Halloween weekend, but Trey's sit in's at that show were pretty phenominal. Who knew Dave could sound so good? The Shins- In Vegas for Vegoose festival. I think this is the umpteenth time I've seen these guys, and the set was sick! LCD Soundsystem- HOB San Diego. I wish I had caught these guys the first opportunity I had. Watching the show I was all: "if I was in a band it would be just like this!". Songbird- All around San Diego area. A friend of a friend's band that is actually good. I'll dance my ass off at their shows. They play often. Check 'em out, you heard it here first. Aqueduct- Knitting Factory, LA. My buddy from high school Dave actually is kind of making a living now playing music. Always cool to see his booty shakin' skills in person. Chaz- Alabi Bar, 1/2 block from my apt. The guitar player is from my hometown Tulsa, OK. We met here in SD at a party 2 years ago when his band Chaz just formed, and I've been going to the shows since. This one was good as always, and around 2 am I invited pretty much the entire bar to my apt. for after hours dance party and several 30 packs. Sorry neighbors! Now that I've got the brain going I realize I could go on forever, so I'll stop. Yes, I'm addicted to live music.
  6. Gamecube. The former better half and I bought it on impulse while buying toiletries at Target- If I'm not mistaken it just had a big price reduction or something. Anyway, I think I've played it 2 or 3 times. Growing up I had Intellevision, Atari 2600, and NES. I used to play Pitfall day and night.
  7. I'm on a roll here... 89.5 KCRW.
  8. Soren, I'm glad you brouhgt up the James Patterson/Alex Cross thing. I read the first two in high school simply because my mom had read them, and they sat around in our living room for awhile. I was hooked like a housewife and soap operas. Good times. Brett Easton Ellis is my fav non-fiction, which is mostly what I read. And of course, David Sedaris.
  9. I don't subscribe to any, but I listen to a bunch of the KCRW(Santa Monica NPR) ones quite a bit. Also, my college radio station KJHK 90.7 Lawrence, KS broadcasts online. I can't listen to that at work though, it just makes me sad I'm workin' and not playin' like college. edit: great link, btw. Looks like I've found one to subscribe to.
  10. Awesome TR, thanks, very enjoyable. I've been daring myself to eat a McRib since it's return but I haven't been able to make myself do it. After the coaster pics I was drooling over it sounds pretty good. Or it could be the wine induced posting...
  11. Ahhh, thanks for the reply. I guess I'm REALLY out of the loop. And ouch, I had no idea that had occured. You're right, it's a killer show. At least nothing can steal my memories of fall 1995. That was my favorite tour. I skipped about 10 days of my junior year in high school to do the east coast. Good times. Scott "macaroni and Bela made Nashville great" Moore
  12. LMAO! I don't think there is a gay bar in San Diego that hasn't already added this to the Jukebox yet... Scott "already sick of hearing it" Moore
  13. Very enjoyable TR Wally. I agree NorCal is the tits, but hey, SoCal ain't awful or nothin'! (well, there's LA, but...) I didn't get this vibe from your Trey picture caption, but it did get me wondering about all this flack it seems Trey is getting post Phish. What's up with that? At Vegoose a couple of weeks ago I was hearing all this anti Trey sh#t, and lots of that community seems to be skipping this tour of his. Not that it makes any difference in the world who does and who does not like Trey, but seriously, what's up with that? Was there a memo amongst 'heads that I missed? Scott "happy to be seeing Trey on the 6th and Bob on the 9th" Moore
  14. The Insurance companies probably had their reserves hit pretty hard due to the amount of loss associated with the 'canes, and need to up their rates to keep a stable financial rating. Not very exciting stuff, however being in insurance I thought I'd chime in. It's all about the numbers. I feel for those who are losing their jobs. Man, it sucks to be out of work. Especially if you love your job, as it sounds those involved did. Scott "hates being out of work" Moore
  15. Great TR Erik and Leanne! like a lowfat... nonfat.... Blizzard. LMAO!
  16. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. What a great guy, and an original coaster-celebrity for me. My next ride is for you, Steve!
  17. Williamsburg is a blast. The "main drag" is the Bedford exit on the L train. It's a very young hip area with tons of cool shops, bars and such. Have a great trip! Watch out for the L being closed on weekends in the near future. There are signs in the station that let you know what weekends it will be closed.
  18. I just got back from a week in Boston and NYC. I had a freaking blast. My eating priorities were Benny's Burritos (lower east side location), Two Boots pizza (all over the city; 8 I think), Nathan's, and Max's (you MUST order lasagna if you go). As far as the gay places- any of the bars around Chelsea are more the SoCal-ish gay bars with the buff tank top boys and plenty of drag queens. There are gay bars all over the city though- and pleasantly run the gamut in what they offer. I went to a great, chill place called Phoenix on 13th street, I think it was somewhere between 1st Ave and B. A great dive bar is 7b, and obviously its at 7th street and B Ave. It is also pretty obvious that I'm partial to the lower east side. Most of the places I've mentioned are there. PM me if you have any specific ?'s.
  19. < Passing out now...
  20. I've asked my parents to keep an eye out for our old family trip pics. I should have some great ones from the eighties. Funny how I probably have better documentation of trips I took before I owned a camera. Since becoming an adult I rarely take a camera to parks. Thanks to those of you that do! Scott "needs to bring the camera more often" Moore
  21. Awesome retro! I barely remember that credit.
  22. What all do you have planned in Vegas? I will be there the 29th and 30th but most of my time will be at a music festival in Sam Boyd Stadium. If you happen to be going to Vegoose as well, let me know! Scott "i'll be in the Reno 911 costume" Moore
  23. Video: freakin' awesome. Kudos. Now that I've seen/heard it with Phish I don't know if I'd like it as much with anything else. We shall see I guess?
  24. Drachen Fire! One of the coasters I really wanted to try... Edit: I can't believe I forgot Rocket Rods... now those I TOTALLY wish I could have ridden...
  25. I know "Buster" is an enthusiast, but not sure if he was ever an ACE member. Ballons and coasters, ROFL! I wish I would have known that when I met him. Grrrrr... Thanks for the info; there's always next time. Scott "sees porn stars here in SD quite frequently" Moore
