Mean World Syndrome: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mean_world_syndrome Important to note that mean world syndrome isn't saying violence is CAUSED by watching entertainment or news media, but that it provides an aura that the world is a more violent place than it actually is. Look at the majority shows on TV: CSI, Law & Order, Medium, etc. They all deal with murder and crime, so much so, that I think people believe that those sort of things happen very regularly, when infact it is a rarer occurance.

^ It won't undercut Nano sales because there are two distinct markets they're catering to. The nano is still the better choice for people who exercise or who prefer a very small player. The iPod with video will go after the segment of people who bought the regular sized iPods in the past (those with large music collections, or people who want video). If anything, keeping the iPod's without video would have hurt sales of the old iPod more, since the Nano could do everything the old iPods could do, at a cheaper price. That being said, the video feature is cool, but I'm not going to buy a new iPod just for that. I felt the same way about the photo feature, until they added the USB camera attachment. I think the more exciting news is the offering of current TV shows in the store for two bucks. I hope this catches on quick and the major networks hop on. If they let me download episodes of shows I like, I'd be way more inclined to spring for the new iPod.

TPR's Knott's Halloween Haunt Official Meet

^ Yeah, traffic is stressing me out too. We're leaving at 3:30, figuring in there will definately be a ton of traffic, I think two hours is enough time to get down there. Hopefully there won't be some major 95 car pile-up or something. -
Theme Park hauntings and ghosts
Wes replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've heard the Disneyland Haunted Mansion unload has "playful" ghosts in it from some of the CM's that worked on it. It kinda seems like a hoax to me, simply because it's so obvious to make up a story that the Haunted Mansion would have real ghosts. But multiple people have said it, so its either an urban legend that the CM's really believe, or there are real spirits. -

Did someone say Dio? -
That trash can picture is hilarious. It seriously looks like Photoshop.

Kick off R&E, and then we can finally transform this site into the Saved By The Bell fan fiction site I've always dreamed of. -

Howabout TPR Survivor, where we kick off a member each week? -
Bring them into Photoshop. Under the image menu in the top toolbar, there is a selection called Image Size. Click on that and it will bring up a seperate window. Size them 640 wide by 480 high. Save them by using the Save For Web option in the File menu.

Photo TR: Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay Weekend

Awesome TR. You look so angry in this photo. I smell the next photoshop contest. -
^ Where are you getting these photos from? Digital Camera? Camera Phone? If your source images are small, you can't resize them larger without resulting in really poor image quality.

Ok, so I bought the tickets and made the reservation for the 5:30 VIP Pre-Scare...all set! Question: Where are we supposed to go for the VIP? Do we go the chicken restaurant or in the park or what? I have no clue! (guess I should have asked) -

^ Yeah, I'd definately recommend the multi-CD package. Very nice and well put together. Now if I could only get my hands on the stupid HM fastpass area music.
-
^ Did you get the single CD comp, or the big multi-CD thing?

I am good at: 1) Taking pictures of weird people. 2) Making snarky comments about said weird people. 3) Making snarky comments about anything. 4) Coughing.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Tatsu Flying Coaster
Wes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It's stuck in the area before the turnaround, not the bottom of the drop. -
^ None of it was real. They said it was a publicity stunt fairly recently. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T.A.T.u. According to that article, I guess their new album drops tomorrow? Maybe they should have waited til' Spring 06 and tied it in with the coaster.

The amount of porn that is filmed in a 4 mile radius around my apartment on a daily basis would put most people to shame. Heck, my friend's next door neighbors rent out their house for porn shoots.

Some friends wanted to go to SFMM, so I begrudgingly headed out there with them. Typical SFMM operations: crappy with a side of terrible. My girlfriend isn't a big fan of roller coasters, but somehow I persuaded her onto Goliath. She didn't much like it. Goldrusher was running one train! The employees all around the park seemed like they could care less (a group of them were just talking in the Jet Stream station, not even bothering grouping guests or anything...retarded!). The lines for food or drink were ridiculous. Needless to say, we got a couple rides and then BOLTED. Stupid SFMM. Since Robb update with construction stuff yesterday, there's not much else to report or add. There's some track in the parking lot, there's some cut down trees, there's some markers. Woweeee. Oh and we saw a woman with insane back hair. Here's some pics: A parting shot of ColossSHITSPIDER!!! OMG CHECK OUT THE BACK HAIR ON THIS CHICK!!! GROSSSS. "Hey, what's up? No, I'm not busy, there's just a 20 person line to get lemonade. Yeah, I can talk. Did you see Laguna Beach last week?" This is how Arrowhead water grows in the wild. What do X and the Northridge mall have in common? They're both in a VALLEY. Stucks to be you. Soon, russian pseudo-lesbian pop duos will be flying through here. There aren't trees in this picture. Can you tell she LOVED it? I'm probably ignoring every safety warning by riding Goliath. Where's Joey? Some land clearing above Valencia Falls. This would have been interesting if Robb didn't post it yesterday. (jerk) Six Flags CalifOHSHITSPIDERS!!!!

Are you calling me a chick? Here's my most classic "Oh shit, I'm so dumb." moments: - Over the summer, my parents went to China with their friends. Their friends have a mini-van, and since there would be four people plus luggage, they asked me to pick them from the airport using the friends' mini-van instead of my parent's smaller car. I said sure. I am used to driving a smaller car (Jetta and Corolla) but I've driven my girlfriend's old SUV before, and I hadn't had a problem. The day before their flight arrived, I dropped off my car at my parent's and drove the mini-van back to my apartment (so I could just wake up from my place and leave, since it's closer to the airport). I was nervous about driving their car, I didn't want to mess it up. The entire drive on the freeway I was going 50mph max and making sure no one was around when I made lane changes and such. Luckily the drive home was smooth, and I reached my apartment's parking structure...success! So I go to turn into my space and suddenly I hear ~~~**CRRRRRRRSSSSHHHXXXXX**~~~ "Oh shit, what the fuck did I do?" I swing open the car door and see I've scrapped the back end of the car against a support post that's next to my spot. With my smaller car, the turning radius to get in was alot easier than with a bigger car. I completely miscalculated and totally fucked up the side of their mini-van. To make matters worse, it was somehow WEDGED against the support post, and more damage had to be incurred to get it free. Needless to say, the friends weren't very pleased when I picked them up the next day. Luckily, insurance covered most of it, and I had to pay only $200. me dumb lol

Well, something so incredibly stupid just happened, and I felt like I needed to post it. So let's all share the golden little moments where we weren't our brightest. It'll be cathartic. Today's story of personal retardation: I was going out to grab something to eat. I decided to take out a plastic bag full of trash. So I had my keys and the bag in the same hand (YOU PROBABLY SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING). I live on the third floor of an apartment complex, so we have a garbage chute that leads to a main dumpster. (YOU MUST SEE WHERE THIS IS HEADED NOW). So I open the latch and throw the bag away (CAN YOU GUESS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?) and the keys snag on the bag and down the chute they go. I stand there dumbfounded for a second, trying to process what the hell just happened. I scream out, "Oh fuck me." and race down the flight of stairs and into the dumpster holding area. The chute is backed up with bags, so I had to pull some bags away to even find my bag. It smelled like ass and a half and it was really dark. After a few minutes of moving around mucked up bags, I found my bag, but my keys are not attached. I'm dreading the thought of actually climbing into the garbage bin to locate them, but it seems like it may have to come to it. At this point, you're probably thinking, "Wes, why don't you just go get new keys made?" Well, yes that was an option. However, my apartment complex issues us this little electronic FOB that opens the complex's outside doors. Replacing it costs $50+. I did not want to spend 50 bucks on a little piece of plastic. I get my roommate to come down with a flashlight, some gloves, and a broom. My roommate is a genius like McGuyver, and he comes up with a scheme to attach a bent clothes hanger onto the end of the broom. We use the broom-coat-thingy to dig around for awhile and we finally found the keys, and we successfully scoop them out. We head back up to the apartment, and I washed and disinfected my keys 75 million times. The lesson: Keep your keys in your pocket when you are throwing something away. OK your turn!
