Fun Spot America Discussion Thread
Jew replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Where did I state they were the only ones there? All I said was "you never know" You never said, but the context of your post certainly implied it... Fun Spot hosted a "facility tour" that included unlimited rides, food, and booze. It's safe to say they weren't the only manufacturer there...so I guess anything is possible because reps from ride companies visited the park! -
$7/month if you sign up at least 4 people, and the water park is not included. It is still cheaper than Disney, but I think most people would be willing to pay more if they got their crap together. I bought my pass during the Labor Day flash sale. I just received an email that my membership price is going up to $7 and some change/month from $6.85. They've backed themselves into the budget market in the minds of locals. Outside of shutting the park down for a MAJOR overhaul, so they could market the "new and improved, more upscale...blah blah blah" to justify higher prices, I just don't see it happening. However, what investing into capacity and guest service CAN do is turn more locals into regular visitors from their normal once every couple of years visit (almost every large employer in So Cal offers cheap tickets) if they have a good experience during that visit. Otherwise the lines and generally "blah" service translates into "I'll come back in a few years when they have some new rides."

Granted I am not really a credit whore to the point I know the locations of all the Boomerangs...so I don't think this is actually common? -

That was during IAAPA. Pretty sure they weren't the only company there. -
Disney is open 365 days per year yet excels in ride maintenance and their parks are spotless because they do not accept anything less than excellence. Six Flags is closed about 140 days per year. They do not need more days off. They need better management and more staff. Disneyland also isn't charging $7/month for their premium pass...you can't compare the two. Take SFMM for what it is. It's a terrible park. We love to bitch about it because they deserve it. But it's also only $7/month for a Water Park, Twisted Colossus, and parking. Take it for what it is.

Olympia Looping (Cranger Kirmes 2015)

^No. That's the biggest difference between the U.S and European fairs. -
The brand is still absurdly popular...I think the problem with last years was that even the average guest figured out it was mostly the same maze as the year prior. This one is being touted as the largest maze in HHN's history, so hopefully that means an all new maze. I don't watch the show, so to me it's just another zombie themed maze that I hope will have impressive visuals. Last year the only part that impressed me was the rock wall thing.

It was sold to a park in Pakistan. Not sure if it was ever assembled. It's just not economical to have a big ride (Doppel Loop took 28 trailers) travel in the U.S. thanks to the "pay one price" promotions and contracts for whole midways instead of independent operators like in Europe. -
If you can afford the VIP tour, go for that. You get unlimited front of line, a really good lunch buffet, plus the extended tour that lets you get out and walk around some sets. Crowd wise it shouldn't be bad, but that is the start of a holiday weekend, so expect 30-60 min waits in the middle of the day.

Pretty much every company has a knock off of the KMG fireball (which is licensed to Chance to sell as the revolution as a park model only), so it's possible it's from another manufacturer as well. -
I'd blame Six Flags' stellar maintenance record before Intamin. If it were a manufacturer that didn't have a long history of issues with downtime etc; then I'd say Six Flags. Intamin has a crazy track record of mechanical issues. Twisted Colossus is the first RMC coaster to have so much reported downtime... It's all about having the proper resources to deal with complicated rides.

^I think it's going to be tied up in the courts for a LONG time. I doubt all these investors suing have much interest in settling for the smaller properties. In fact, that's already one of the accusations made: that all the valuable assets were shifted away from them. Bally's was one of the properties shifted to the company that Ceasar's was trying to protect. Basically this whole thing is a lot of really rich people thinking they could outsmart each other and destroying a company in the process. It's impossible to keep up with all the accounting tricks they've tried.

They'll be sold off. Prime locations=huge value
