Be sure to say hi to Colin while you're there. -
^^^I guess Walt must not have been listening to himself when planning WDW before he passed away, considering that 20/23 of Magic Kingdom's opening day attractions were Disneyland clones with slight (if any) changes... But that's the point. There's really no way to know what Walt would think of the Pirates overlay, so why bother trying to think about? Just take the attraction for what it is, and either enjoy or dislike it....when it opens.

There's no such thing as a "safe call" on what man who has been dead for 40 years would do. But since we're playing... "Whenever I go on a ride, I'm always thinking of what's wrong with the thing and how it can be improved. "-Walt Disney Who is to say Walt wouldn't have "improved" Pirates by incorporating elements from his smash hit movie? Judging from Disneyland, it is clear he wasn't afraid to base rides on movies. Who is to say Walt would have even produced movies based on his rides in the first place? The point is we don't freaking know, so why bother complaining about it? Nor is the ride even open yet for anyone to judge how good or bad the overlay is...but I guess that is besides the point.

Hi Nicole.

Nope. Nothing at all. Just perfectly syncing the ride vehicles movements to the 3d video, which is seamlessly integrated with the 2d sets. Did I mention that the ride vehicles are actually moving along a track, and not just staying still like with other motion simulators? But anyways...They won't use the Fantasyland Theater for anything besides an entertainment venue. It's the marquee Disneyland entertainment venue. I'm guessing the next E-ticket will be where the former Festival Arena/current Big Thunder Ranch is...

HOLY JESUS F*CK ON A STICK! -
^Because you can't market a 50th anniversary forever. Nor can you keep marketing C and D tickets, parades, and shows forever and expect to keep growing... (And part of the reason the park is so packed is that they have continually taken things away from Disneyland, thus lowering the capacity. 2,000+pph E-ticket ride with a big queue=at least 5,000 more tickets they can sell.) IIRC, not counting 2005, every one of Disneyland's highest attended years have been on years E-tickets have opened.

I just thought of something: a 100,000sqft ESPN Zone? Holy effing crap that's big! That's more than double the size of any other ESPN Zone. -
Flashback at SFMM Re-Opening???
Jew replied to roller coaster fanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though I already said it earlier in the thread...I'll go ahead and say it again: Flashback is only listed as being under "rehab" because it is still in the park, so it needs to have some sort of official reason for being listed as closed. I bet the reason will change to "safety" when Hurricane Harbor opens. I wouldn't count on it ever returning to action. -

Flashback at SFMM Re-Opening???
Jew replied to roller coaster fanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's the stuff you can't see that would make rehabbing flashback a poor investment. Low "readings" (ridership)+the need of a new electrical system+what I'm sure will be a bunch of mechanical items that need to be repaired/replaced=not money SFMM is going to invest in Flashback. I'm guessing they will remove flashback within the next couple of years and expand Hurricane Harbor. -
