  1. What they did for GhostRider (granted that was planned by the Knott family) would more than suffice. I refuse to believe that it was impossible to combine a thrilling ride with a theme to "blend" in with KBF.
  2. I'm actually indifferent between the two Space Mountains...I think Florida's is just Matterhorn in a box, and while I enjoy the music of DL's, it's still nothing special. I won't bother to ride either unless I can get a fastpass or its a short wait. But anyways...I thought this thread was about DCA's makeover?
  3. The thing that makes Journey awesome to me (besides Lava Monster of course) is that it is unique. It's everything you expect from WDI: a completely immersive experience with awesome storytelling, visuals, technology, etc. That's what bugs me about Radiator Springs Racer: based on what we know so far, it seems so half assed when put up against all the other E-tickets.
  4. This is probably the least excited I have ever been for an E-ticket attraction. Old Ride System+existing story=boring. Based on what is known so far, there is absolutely nothing that makes this ride special.
  5. ^Aside from his point about the food (price gouging is standard industry practice), I thought everything else he said was very well thought out and completely valid.
  6. I'm not sure you can fault the park for this one. The coupons are clearly labeled as being for Haunt only. You could have easily purchased tickets on KBF's website for $30. During the month of October, parks with hard ticket halloween events are far more concerned with driving attendance to the night time event. There's far more money to be made. If you were to visit USH or DCA, they would be equally as dead. It's the "off season" here too. Covering the overlays is how it has ALWAYS been done, even back when the Knott family still owned the park.
  7. A new King Kong attraction will open next summer at USH as part of the Studio Tour. Not many details are known besides the fact it will feature 3D digital projections and will be based on the 2005 remake. The former location of the Kong show building is now part of the new backlot which is still under construction. The new attraction will be in a different spot. Construction is already well underway.
  8. I agree that it is not a 100% confirmation...but that is an official Buena Park website. It is also equally as likely they got their info straight from planning documents submitted to the city (hence the reason they have the date for the start of construction).
  9. ^Your definition of "right" is much different than the executives at WDW. Improving the show would be great...but if you're only given a certain amount of money, that money is going to go to the essential things needed to keep the ride running for years to come.
  10. ^^That was France. I discovered that one on last years drinking around the world excursion.
  11. Bud Selig just threw up in his mouth a little. MLB definitely doesn't want two small market teams in the WS. While it would be a nice change of pace for baseball fans, it would be a nightmare for MLB. That being said, I'm obviously pulling for the Phils. Lee was fricken amazing yesterday, and Hamels (who's going today,) has been awesome for the past two months. The Phils should be up 2-0 today. Actually, Bud Selig would be THRILLED to have two small market teams in the world series. The ratings would suck, but you would never hear the end about how revenue sharing helps create parity...
  12. ^^I should have been more specific about the IPO: Blackstone only offered a 10% share of the company in it's IPO. And the shares don't have voting rights, so for most intents-and-purposes, they are still a private equity firm.
  13. "Private equity" gets its name from the fact that one of the most common things these firms do is buy up all the stock in pubically traded companies and take them private.
  14. You can upgrade your day/night ticket to a front of the line pass for somewhere in the $30-50 range if it is available (they do sell out). I would definitely recommend doing the upgrade, as it is the only 100% sure way to guarantee you will see everything. This year USH offered a "Frequent Fear" pass, so it is entirely possible that will make things a lot busier than you would expect on a weekday.
  15. ^Because doing a simple google search on Blackstone would reveal to you that they are private equity firm with a crapload of assets that go way beyond theme parks. A $4.13B IPO offering in 2007 sure helps too...
  16. Be sure to buy them in advance as well. It is very likely that Front of the Line passes and the RIP Tour will be sold out if you try to buy them at the ticket booth or upgrade inside the park.
  17. I love the quote from their spokesperson... What else are they supposed to do when they don't honor their end of a contract? Really? Is the new management team really so stupid that they thought none of the vendors would say anything when they didn't get paid? Did they really expect them to wait until they have taken all the money for themselves before getting paid??? They are heading straight for another bankruptcy...But that doesn't really matter to anyone, since a few of the former owners got their land back+more investment money for pennies on the dollar from what they originally owed, and the other original owners still got paid through claiming they owned the intellectual property of the park...so everybody wins except the investors, vendors, and employees that they tricked into believing this park would work!
  18. Dan appreciated all the e-mails he got while we were watching bad comedians (after our friend went on, the rest of the show sucked). Keep them coming!!!
  19. I'm hanging out with dan at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club....he saif he misses the emails...hasn't gotten many lately!!!!!
  20. Hanley Ramirez just signed a long-term deal this past season. 6 years I believe. Marlin's management probably realized that they need at least one star to christen their new stadium. Uggla will probably be gone though.
  21. ^Imply? Perhaps. Written into the contract they give the hospital/family agreeing to pay for medical expenses? Absolutely not. I'm sure if they were to pay for medical expenses, it would be made very clear that it was simply a gesture of good faith and by no means an admission of guilt.
  22. ^I'm all about trash talking...but it's kind of hard for a Red Sox fan to say "Yankees suck" when they won the division and clinched the best record in the AL...
  23. I was with Dan tonight @ Haunt. He said to keep the e-mails coming.
  24. ^^We didn't miss any of the credits at SFoT. Still had plenty of time to get them all thanks to Robb and Elissa's excellent planning.
