  1. As a sports fan, I love stuff like this! I hope it does well and they leverage the partnership with player appearances, contests for tickets, etc.
  2. That won't mean anything if Green Lantern is closed down for good. But SFMM can now open another coaster in 2021 and claim it to be its 20th coaster for its 50th anniversary which will be a great marketing strategy. Hopefully they get something really exciting for their 50th anniversary. They already announced WCR as their 20th coaster - which they can technically still do if GL is still standing when WCR opens, even if they tear it down later in the year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think they'll remove green lantern as soon as it is determined what is actually going to happen to it. Don't think it has anything to do with marketing 20 coasters. If that is there reason for keeping it standing, they had better prepare for other theme parks to take them to task on social media now that making fun of stuff counts as effective marketing.
  3. With the annual pass program, the only time Disneyland will not be busy is if it rains and scares locals away.
  4. Splurge on those glass seats! Totally worth it.
  5. I'm sure they'll also be announcing a high priced private event as well. Good for them for squeezing every dollar out of the land.
  6. Would imagine the reason the rates are so high is precisely because they will offer early entry or be given first dibs on the time reservations for the land.
  7. It’s alive! Starting my coaster/sports travels in 2019 with Amalie arena in Tampa bay. It just so happened that the kings (lose for Hughes!!!) were in town on my days off from work, so why not an Orlando weekend? Definitely a nice hockey building. In the heart of the city, but easy and cheap parking. Concourse inside was wide with plenty of tables for food... He was good at hockey and bringing hockey to Tampa bay. One knock on the building: beer prices are insane. I thought dodger stadium was bad, and this matches them. Bar in Lexus club. Very bare, but all included! This one is on the event level (Lexus club.). Beer was Heineken and cocktails well quality booze, but still worth the price. Obligatory exterior shot I never got a good photo of it in action, but the building has two telsa coils as part of intermission show package It’s also obligatory that NHL teams have some sort of lighting package for intermissions ending. They have a large courtyard outside for pregame festivities and sponsor activations. What I loved is they opened up their team office lobby to have somewhere inside to wait for doors in the Florida heat. Also had a trophy case that displayed the “team sized” (mini) versions of all the teams awards. They have fared much better than my kings had as an expansion team ...you have accesss to two clubs that offer all you can eat and drink (booze included). This one is the chase club. My seats were not terrible. A bargain at $200 because... Fantastic scoreboard. I like this style more than the round ones. Giant too. That also had charging stations. Should be a requirement in all sports venues at this point. One other thing I enjoyed is having the organist be a feature of the arena with a deck fans can hang out on.
  8. Hotel prices for Star Wars opening day: Grand Californian: $763 Disneyland Hotel: $613 Paradise Pier: Sold Out. I refuse to believe that the hotel project for DtD is dead.
  9. I hate these comments. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT WALT WOULD DO BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN DEAD FOR 50 YEARS. Also, Walt sold like every inch of the park he could to sponsors. And built an entire land (fantasyland) based on movie properties he owned.
  10. It costs $149 per person for a one day one park ticket in June that doesn't even guarantee you entry into the land when one of the rides might not even open. Personally I'd rather wait until the rides are on Maxpass, the insanity has died down and they have the bugs worked out. I'm glad that the land is opening early so people have the option to go if they want to deal with that level of insanity but personally (unless you're a local with a pass) I don't see the appeal of going right after it opens when you could wait a little bit and have a much better experience. Define "a little bit." It's not going to die down anytime soon after May 31. Perhaps a tiny bit when all passes except the most expensive one is blacked out, but those people will just be replaced with paying guests....
  11. FWIW, Universal is billing these dates as preview dates.
  12. Not just Japan, but still likely top 25-30 for the world!
  13. why? it's not a secret a new coaster is being built. This is California, people slow down to stare if someone is getting a speeding ticket. Imagine the amount of people who slow down to stare at a roller coaster being driven down the freeway. None.
  14. There are a lot of people who would prefer that their Orlando vacations stay in Orlando. Can't say that I blame them for that with Orlando having so much on its own. This ride will DEFINITELY bring me back, but I've opted to skip the park on my visits the last few years.
  15. There will be no such thing as a slow time at Disneyland once the land opens. If it's slow, that also means passholders are likely not blacked out....good luck.
  16. Just curious, but what time did you ride Flight of Passage and Navi River Journey? FOP Standby is usually listed at 3+ hours midday and Navi hitting 2. I've done both in the last hour (+bonus time) a few times. Middle of the day. 12:00ish. I timed it--waited 94 minutes with 180 posted for Flight of Passage and 63 with 90 posted for River Journey.
  17. It is a Thursday in late February But yeah, it's totally possible to have a perfectly good day anytime of the year without having any fastpasses before arriving. Might not be able to get on every single attraction you want exactly when you want to but you can have a perfectly good time. I've done all of the major attractions in Epcot in like 5 hours with only a pass for test Track on a Saturday in June. I actually went Sun/Monday of marathon weekend, so definitely not their slowest time.
  18. This is absoultely NOT TRUE at all. It is only true if you are not a smart theme park patron and you follow the sheep into every single long line without thinking or being strategic on how to maximize your FP+ options combined with the best times to get into a stand by line. I cannot tell you how many times I've stood in the Flight of Passage standby line and it only took me 25 minutes to get on the ride because I was smart about when I chose to get in that line. I can also tell you that I've been on attraction like Frozen, Toy Story Mania, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, etc, in the MIDDLE OF THE DAY without a Fast Pass and only waited 20-40 minutes because you figure out when are peak periods for rides and not peak periods. Also doing some smart second guessing as to when people are and are not booking Fast Passes comes into play as well. It annoys me when people claim that you "HAVE to get a FastPass or you're not getting on the bigger rides" because that's completely false. I would hope that the people posting to these forums would know better. I'm a little late to this party, but I just want to add that I just got back from doing a half days at both EPCOT and Animal Kingdom in the middle of the day and rode Flight of the Passage, Navi River ride, Expedition Everest, Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, and Soarin with only a fastpass for Expedition Everest...so....
  19. The amount of detail is absurd. We may gripe that everything lately is IP driven, but between Universal and Disney, it's been an amazing time to be a theme park fan! WWoHP, Diagon Alley, Carsland, Avatar Land, and now this to cap it off? The amount of detail and money being thrown at projects just keeps going up and up and I am all for it! Also, I don't care how much that Rex droid is, I will be buying it!
  20. I think this will be something Potter fans will love, but us coaster nerds will be bummed the experience isn’t as good as dueling dragons. Universal has to milk that cash cow for all it’s worth.
  21. That show is older than I am. I hope they do update that area too!
  22. So who is still playing? I gave up, but got hooked back in
  23. Pretty sure you and Joey are the reason Where's the Fire is gone! I'm just glad I didn't actually start a fire while failing to find the fire!
  24. I don't understand what is difficult to understand here. If your business model is built off volume sales, and the volume of customers decreases, the only way you aren't going to see a decrease in revenue is if the remaining customers increase their rate of consumption at a rate equal or greater than than the number of customers departing. If it's known that you aren't raising prices appreciably in order to spur exactly this kind of change on, then the only way you aren't going to see drops in revenue is if independently of everything your customers simply change behavior to spend more. That's a crap-ass bet to make. Usually we disagree, but you are spot on here. Disney & Universal can increase ticket prices to increase profits since they are the "premium" brands in the industry. Cedar Fair? Not so much. They absolutely need positive attendance trends to drive ancillary revenue.
