Trackless Vehicle Rides/Attractions

Indy is on a track. -
Because of work getting in the way, I haven't been able to get back to DL since the weekend of 7/17, so now that hours are being cut back I decided to take a trip up yesterday. Left for the train station at 6 and was there around 615, train leaving at 645. Took me about 15 minutes just to pick up my tickets just because they only had one window open and the lady ahead of me didn't understand the concept of booking tickets in advance. When I did get to the window (they'd opened up another one), my reservation number was pulling up a ticket in someone else's name...apparently the confirmation screen added an extra "0" to my number after I'd paid for the tickets. The train was about 5 minutes late arriving at SOL and 15 minutes late arriving at ANA, and for some reason they decided to run the older (non-surfliner, single deck) equipment. Had them sandwiched between two locos, but I suppose that's because they didn't have a cab car for the older equipment. Anyways, I didn't arrive until about 20 after 8 because of the delay, so I didn't get to the bus station until about a minute after mine had left. Not really a big deal, the next one came about 20 minutes after I got there. Got to bag check around 920, and was in and at Space at around 930. Summer crowds are gone...Space was only posted at 20 minutes when I got there, and actual wait time was around 10-15 minutes. In fact, the longest line for Space was posted at 40, but for most of the day it was 30 or less. Splash only had a 25 minute wait at 12:04, Mansion never made it into switchbacks (that I saw), Pirates was probably around 10-15 minutes most of the day (I walked on earlier in the morning). Thunder didn't start using dual station until mid-afternoon, Matterhorn wasn't much past the exit of the Tomorrowland side, even when that line was filtering into both stations. Jungle was about a 2 boat wait, Buzz wasn't even outside of the building most of the day. When I got to bag check, the roof of Space was open...the second level, between the pylon things...its cut in half and opens up like a door. Figured it was 101, but it was fine when I got there. In fact, I didn't see it go 101 at all. Anyways, first thing I hit was Space. Grabbed a FP for later before I got in line. Queue was backed up to the room just before the turn into the main station. Some guy left his cell in the seat as I got on so I grabbed it and got it to him before he left. For most of the day I just kinda wandered around, in between space FPs. Managed to get on that around 8 times. On one of my rides on Mansion, two kids were a buggy or two behind me, and every time they saw an exit sign they would scream (at the top of their lungs) "I FOUND AN EXIT!!!!!" They screamed about how they saw leota's strings, and when we got to the graveyard they started screaming "Party over here, hooo hooo, party over there, hooo hooo" repeatedly for the WHOLE GRAVEYARD. When they got off, they asked their mother if she heard them and she said they did a good job. WTF??? Staked out a spot a few hours in advance on the curb of the hub for fireworks...and I overheard some interesting arguments...such as what some lady would do to the guy she was with if he pulled a knife on their (probably 2-3 year old) son again. Nothing really to note about the day, it was pretty much business as usual, except for some stupid kids in Mansion. Most of my TR for the park will be in the pics. After the fireworks I headed back to the train station, and on the way in I called Amtrak just to see if my train would be on time. Nope..."significant delays." Called my ride, told 'em I'd be late and I didn't know how late. When I got into the station there was a sign posted, saying a 2 hour delay due to engine failure. Called my ride again, let them know. Station building was full (and they had the a/c on...WTF??), so I went outside. 2 people, a lady and her son, were sleeping on the benches, and one guy had his computer going playing music. I sat down and pulled out my psp, scanned for wifi networks, and since there werent any I pulled out my ds and played mario for a bit. After a while I was really tired so I decided the two on the benches had a good idea and layed down and went to sleep for about a half hour (never thought I'd be sleeping in a train station). Got a call from my ride asking if there was any new information, told her there wasn't, and then right after I got off the phone they came on the PA and said it wouldn't be there til around 1230 (originally scheduled to leave at 1050). Called back and told her. Right after that some new people showed up, apparently pretty drunk. Three guys, three girls. Two of the girls went and laid down on benches, and one came and sat down by me. Two of the guys were off to the side making calls, and one of them decided to start playing some games. He got the probably 4 year old kid up, and started playing newspaper-baseball (they'd all come out of the Angels game). The kid stopped playing so the guy started trying to just hit things with the paper ball. He'd go to one end and try to hit the metrolink side (and always missed), then started trying to hit his friends and some of the other guys in the station (still missed). Eventually the old lady sitting out there decided she didn't like him and demanded that he keep it down and stop throwing the paper ball (and he wasn't that loud to begin with). "Why?" "Because I asked you to, and that's not too hard." "But we're all bored here waiting for the train -" "I don't care. Stop. You keep almost hitting us." (and the paper ball was nowhere near them) "I know...I know my aim is terrible, why do you gotta point it out to me?" "What the hell is wrong with you?" "A lotta stuff" "Well why don't you go somewhere and cure yourself?" "I know...I need to get on the train so i can go home and cure myself. *starts singing, and lifting up his shirt and like...rubbing his chest* I...just wanna...cure myself...." She gave up at that point, and he went and got the paper ball and started whispering. "Ok...I got a new game...its called.......bowling." The girl by me told me she was sorry for how he was acting and that he'd been drunk since 530...I said it was fine, it was entertaining. He just kinda rolled the ball down the floor and it stopped before doing anything. Now another guy and his 3 year old kid came in...apparently he just came from the hooters (and yes, his son was there). The kid took to paper baseball right away...except he preferred to throw it on the heads of the two sleeping girls. When they threw it back at him, he went and took off one of their hats and put it in there and put the hat back. Then he yelled "And that's what I do!" Then he came over and said "And this is also what I do!" And he took off his belt, and said "I'm not taking off my pants! Just my belt!" Throughout this whole time the girl by me and I were just laughing our asses off. Things just continued on like this for a while, we were all just laughing and talking and such. After a while the Amtrak staff member came on the PA and said it wouldn't be arriving til 12:50, so we all just kept going. Finally at 12:45 they came on the PA and said this is the first call for Southbound amtrak train 693, and everyone started clapping. We all headed up to track 1, except the two girls were still asleep and wouldn't wake up, so the kid went running down there, and yelled "Wake up everyone!!" and ran back upstairs and literally slid in right in front of where his father was sitting. Train arrived about 5 minutes late (well, late of what the pa guy said), and arrived at SOL at around 2:20, so i didn't get home til around 235. Pretty much a good day in all, even with the engine failure. I'm only going to post a few of the pictures here, since there's a total of 153, the rest can be seen here The columbia was out despite the lack of crowds. The view of the castle from where I ended up sitting for the fireworks Remnant of the old mine cart? Buzz needs some paint Observatron was half-working Space posted wait at 2:10 Playing around with slow shutters. ...and here. Could use some help here... No macro lens, but I did use the macro setting. My camera's pretty good with close focus. Only a 3x zoom on that shot. And even though we're off the page now, I went back and added a warning/blank space before the pics.

Just took these two a few minutes ago, he's hangin from my patio cover in the backyard. Edit: Warning...large spider photos ahead. There, that should do it.

Feh, 2.0 came out a while ago...and it worked fine on my American PSP, despite Sony's press release.

^Only because the actual layout I'm building isn't nearly done yet (actually, its still in the design phase). Who knows, though, I may leave this one here since I'm certainly not using the e-z track system on my real layout.

What is everyone's screen size?
DeliriumTrigger replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I use 1280 x 800 on my laptop and 1280 x 1024 on the desktop. Use my laptop most so I voted for other. -
So I'm at work today and we had a group of 18 people come in from the high school right by us. They run a program for high school students with disabilities, and every once in a while they come in for breakfast. As they were eating, a man came up to me, and asked if it was one big group, one check, and I told him they were all together. He asked me to step aside, over by our counter seating, and told me he wanted to pay for their breakfast. Just a random guy, he didn't know any of them, and he paid $145 for their breakfast just to be nice. And he told us to tell them it was from an anonymous person. With all the crap that goes on in our world, this kind of guy gives me hope for humanity. To know there is still someone nice enough to do something like this for no reason other than gratitude... I don't know if this was worthy of its own topic, but I just wanted to share that story with you guys.

EDIT: Nevermind, fixed the problem.

And the PSP just keeps getting better...someone is developing AIM and MSN scripts to run on the PSP. http://pspaim.com/ http://pspmsn.com/ And IRC for the PSP is already out. http://pspirc.com/

Thanks, I'll try that. The closest thing I can think of to compare it to is a phone's entry system. You scroll to the different blocks and hit X several times to get to your letter. The PS2 text entry would be much easier, where all you have to do is scroll to a block and then each key becomes a letter.

This seems like the best place of any to ask...has anyone seen the connection error (80110482) thing? I keep getting one, and I can't seem to figure out why. I was able to connect just fine last night, but now its dead.

I've been holding back on buying a PSP...but this sold me. Just picked up a used one from gamestop. Now all I need is the memory stick to get the update

The Irridemable Weirdness of Intamin
DeliriumTrigger replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Ask Alvey
It was the episode when Homer went to Clown College. He was demanding a free car since he was Krusty, while Anthony "Fat Tony" D'Amico (also known as William Williams, also known as Marion), Joey, Legs, and Louie were shooting at "Krusty" since he owed them money. -

No, they aren't...that's why they had to dig down deeper, actually. The last structure was one big support with arms reaching out to hold the track. In fact, that is part of why it had to close. It wasn't structurally sound. And that brings me back to the digging...it was dug deeper for the footers and supports that have to go in. At least, that's the deal as I understand it...someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
