  1. If Sol Spin had been a regular mobile Top Scan, same size and everything, just modified to permanently installed, it would do you think it would still have issues?
  2. lol Halloween Horror Nights USH would like a word with you... HHH has the advantage of a Universal Studios make-up department and technically effects, but that's only one factor in the whole.
  3. I actually think the launch on the tester is just for testing, to get the train going. But it still raised an interesting question. What if?
  4. Let's assume for a moment that the Raptor actually has an elevated launch like in the tester. Which is more likely, that it launches from the station or from a midcourse brake run?
  5. Yes! That parking lot south of the hotel is huge and with the new parking garages they are building east of Harbor Blvd that might free it up.
  6. Well, with Silverwood being nearby I'm sure there are one or two
  7. What makes rapids rides rough in the first place is the flow of water over obstacles secured to the bottom of the trough. Theoretically if you increase the flow then it will get rougher. Decrease the flow and it will get calmer. But there has to be a minimum flow rate or else the water level will drop to a point where the raft hits the bottom. I don't if the pumps can be regulated or if they run at set rate.
  8. When we all heard that Knott's version was a larger custom made model, my uh-oh meter went up. When it opened and was seen to go so slow and with shorter cycles I became concerned. I suspected the larger size might be an issue with it's operation. I saw that too, but fought the urge to post a screenshot. I noticed that have began excavating the area where the 'pond' had been. I remember seeing that they were running water into the depression, letting it soak in and the running more water. Does anyone know if saturating the soil makes it softer or does letting the wet ground dry out make a harder surface?
  9. We aren't just talking about you though. You may saying "I think" a lot but Astrum Spark does nothing but say he's 100% right and we should trust his bullsh*t theories. Yeah I know. Please don't lump me is with him. I admit I've been going crazy, mainly in relation to anything remotely Knott's/Cedar Fair/RMC related. I'm trying to tone it down, but I'm geeking out about the possibilities. And right now basically down to CGA and Knott's, my first and third favorite parks. I agree to post less. I acknowledge that not everyone is as excited as I am. You'll notice that I haven't posted a screenshot of the webcam in quite awhile. I would never assume to know anything, and trust me if I had a source I'd post in a heartbeat even if they threatened my knee caps.
  10. I have never claimed to have a source or inside knowledge on anything. You cannot go back and find one single post to back up that claim. Nor do I recall ever making a claim that any park is for a fact going to get a certain ride. There is a difference between speculation, which is what most every person on this website does; and claiming to have absolute factual knowledge that something is for a fact going to occur. When anyone says "I think. Probably. Might. The evidence pints to. It is very likely." they' re guessing. And I have done a lot of guessing. Maybe I gone a little overboard with it, but when have I ever said "I know that X park is going to get X ride, end of story."?
  11. It's so amazing what RMC is able to do. To look at the twisted mess that is the lattice structure of a wooden roller coaster and figure out how to rework it while keeping the original structure, is just phenomenal.
  12. No, you're thinking of AstrumSpark. I have never pretended to know what I'm talking about. I'm all about speculatio . As for "I think" that's all any of us have are our thoughts and opinions. I admitted I was wrong. Plenty of people on these boards say "I think".
  13. How far in advance do they plan these things? Do they make it known that the park has been reserved. I don't want to fly down there just to be locked out.
  14. say what? what we've come to know as "boardwalk culture" in the US was invented in east coast places such as atlantic city, coney island, ocean city, etc. it's absolutely not a uniquely cali or cali-originated thing. I was thinking beach culture. My bad. Got my thoughts messed up. You're right, boardwalks are an east coast thing. But I still think Railblazer sounds like a quirky name for a coaster you might find on one of those New Jersey boardwalks.
  15. ^ California was a cultural trailblazer. Boarkwalk culture was invented in Cali. I wouldn't put it past them to try a make a connection. Hey, I'm just spit balling here.
  16. Except for the fact that the whole park is not western themed. Fiesta Village and the Boardwalk are not western themed. Mexican California is western. California boardwalks are western. The California Sierras are western. California ghost towns are western. We aren't talking western as in "Westerns" or the "Wild West".
  17. So they can't clarify what constitutes a water shoe, but they have no problems specifying what is swimwear. Makes sense.
  18. ^ The whole park is western themed. Railblazer would be a perfect California seaside theme.
  19. Ehhh, Railblazer??? I mean, it's not the best... But it sure could be worse. Yeah, nothing is worse than Coast Rider. But that makes me think. If Knott's is willing to make a play on Ghost Rider with Coast Rider, then would they be willing to make a play on Trailblazer with Railblazer? Granted Knott's doesn't have a ride named Trailblazer, but that term is very much associated with western culture.
  20. Filing trademarks is not cheap or simple. They don't care about messing with people or pulling head fakes. As for filing for later attractions? Sure. But these are just too coincidental. CGA and Knott's are prepping for new rides and CF just happens to file name trademarks at the same time. What other names have they trademarked in recent years, aside from known attractions? Centurion? Sounds like a hyper giga and we are pretty sure no parks are getting one of those anytime soon.
  21. I just posted this on the Cedar Fair Development thread. I think the Raptor is going to Knott's personally.
  22. Cedar Fair has trademarked the name "Railblazer". Some people think that this is the name for the RMC Mean Streak conversion. I don't see how they are even getting at all. In all honestly it sounds more like a perfect name for an RMC single rail coaster. To me this pretty much confirms that the "new type of ride" hinted at by Matt Ouimet is a in fact an RMC Raptor/T-Rex. Now where is it going is the big question now before us. Knott's or CGA? Personally I think 'Railblazer' sounds like 'trailblazer' and that fits with the western theme of Knott's. And if that's the case then I bet CGA is getting an Intamin half pipe because that fits with the trademark "Hang Time". So then where does the name "The Ledge" come into play?
  23. I was wondering why most water parks don't allow water shoes on slides? It can't be a safety issue because I have been to some smaller parks, like public swim centers, that don't have an issue with swim shoes. But all of the big parks here on the west coast have strict no footwear rules. And while we are on the subject, when it comes to combined parks like Wild Waves, Silverwood and Elitch, why don't they allow swimwear on the theme park rides? Why do they make you change?
