  1. uh, looks like they are building something. We aren't talking about HangTime. This permit is for SkyCabin which is already built and has been for decades.
  2. Anything that replaced Xcelerator needs to be at least as thrilling/awesome if not better. Replacing a ride like Xcelerator with a family ride would be a huge mistake.
  3. ^^ Why do they need a permit just to work on Sky Cabin, or any ride for that matter? I can see if they are actually building something but just to work on it?
  4. That's the thing about Gerstlauer's. They could never fit a 2,200 foot B&M with five inversions in that space.
  5. Boy, they are working fast. In addition to some supports, they already have some track and machinery for the lift approach installed.
  6. ^ I'll cop to that. Everyone has their thing. Some people hate log flumes. Some people hate woodies. To each their own.
  7. ^ You're comparing apples to oranges. My point is that the thing that makes real river rafting fun is missing from the rides. As it is people only ride them because they get you wet in summer. They have zero thrill factor otherwise. My idea of fun isn't watching someone else get wet and then laughing at them. I've done real white water rafting and I gaurentee that if rafting rides had a boat more like a chute the chutes style the thrill factor would go way up.
  8. Sea World San Diego Knott's Berry Farm Silverwood
  9. I don't know about stun guns but Tasers are mostly plastic which account for them being snuck in. Personally I find it odd that the kind that DOESNT fire a projectile is called a stun GUN.
  10. ^ I for one hate rapids rides. I don't find them fun at all. For one thing no one ever goes river rafting in a round boat. Maybe if the boats were a more realistic design it would be different. But that's just me.
  11. What does anyone else think that Grizzly Mountain should be turned into a rollercoaster and the water ride scrapped?
  12. I curious how long it takes before they re-theme Jungle Cruise into Jungle Book.
  13. I'm surprised they haven't razed the old fire station yet.
  14. Did they use tasers or stun guns? Because a taser can't be reused unless you remove the prong cartridge and pop on a new one. Which means they not only snuck in tasers but also a handful of prong cartridges each.
  15. Well, it's not a "few" stage coach trips. It's two every two hours (one relieving and one being relieved). But I get what you're saying. You make good points all around.
  16. Screening large numbers of people through security checkpoints takes at lot of time and effort. Just look at airport or courthouse security. I've heard rumors of places that have installed barely functional or even fake detectors just for the appearance of security. They go by the theory that most people will be deterred from attempting anything just by the mere presence of security. They justify their actions by saying that people who actually intend to do harm will find a way despite security measures. Now I doubt that CF or any other large theme park goes by this philosophy. I think it's more likely that these folks simply found a way around the system because they intended to do harm.
  17. Dark Harbor is in a league of it's own. I mean it's a on a freaking real haunted ship!
  18. By the way, that's a lot of footings. And does anyone know what those two dark circles are on ground just outside the fence? They look like holes but they aren't actually holes because I just watched those two girls walk right over them. And another question, the footings themselves look like they have a hole down the center of each one. What's up with those?
  19. Yes, yes you can. I dream of Wacky Soap Box Racers at Knott's.
  20. -No one is talking about moving Haunt mazes across the street. There are plenty of other places within the park to place mazes. Or they could just as easily build new "warehouses" to house the mazes. -A bridge would not be necessary for access between the backstage areas and the park. The stagecoach already uses a signaled crosswalk and it has never been an issue as far as I know. But a two lane underpass would be cheaper than a bridge if they wanted to go that route. -But I actually don't think they need to relocate any of the backstage area across the street. If they just build a new administration building and the costume shop in the area to the south of the main warehouses that would only cost maybe $10 million, and it would still open up 17 acres for expansion. That's still a good chunk of land. To give you an idea how big that is all of the real estate encircled by the railroad is a little more than 13 acres. Then a five story parking structure would cost between $30-50 million. Plus a new hotel (which is actually much needed) would probably be another $25 million. Yeah that's a high price tag but sometimes you have to invest in the future. If Knott's can't expand they will NEVER compete. I were in charge of planning I'd design something similar to one of these... And yes, that is a giga hyper coaster in the north parking lot. Just an idea for when they finally do remove Montazooma's Revenge. OR OR This one leaves the hotel but requires moving all backstage areas across the street.
  21. I doubt there's room for a hotel next to Soak City. I think it makes more sense to put a new one in the lot across Grand from the current one. Also CF knows what they have in Knott's as the park already beats CP in attendance. They are also realistic. Knott's will never match Disney or Universal. But they already outperform Magic Mountain. Be assured CF and KBF do have plans for expansion and im pretty certain they are quite grand.
  22. Oh can you say Soap Box Racers BACK at Knott's!!??
