I don't know about anyone else, but I saw the dent posted on a Facebook group last week, but I even I didn't post anything about it here because even I knew it wasn't a dig deal (and that's saying something). I knew that Knott's wasn't that incompetent, because even if it is an issue (and I don't think it is), I know that they are dealing with it even as we speak behind the scenes. Knott's and Cedar Fair are not going to allow the ride to open if they know it's dangerously compromised (which I don't think it is). Imagine the backlash if an entire section of roller coaster collapsed, Final Destination style, because they were too cheap to fix an honestly really cheap thing to fix. The company would go out of business and people would go to jail. NO. If and that's a big "IF" the dent is a problem then it won't be for long. So can we move on and....oooo look, Xcelerator is still down. I'd rather talk about that actually.

Eh, I don't know. It would be weird as no other Cedar Fair property is branded that way. Unless they plan on rebranding all the parks, like Six Flags has. Cedar Fair's Cedar Point. Cedar Fair's Valley Fair. Cedar Fair's Knott's Berry Farm. Um, no. Plus Cedar Fair parks all their own unique identities, unlike Six Flags parks. When you think of Six Flags you think of two things. Big coasters and parking lots. No one really expects or cares the lack of overall themeing. Landscaping sucks. Food sucks. Shopping sucks. Atmosphere sucks. Ambiance sucks. People go to Six Flags for big thrills. That's it. Though to be fair the company has realized more recently that that model just isn't sustainable and they are finally doing something about it. That something is copying Cedar Fair, because I don't think that most people really identify individual Cedar Fair parks as being part of a bigger company. There is not really one identity that typifies what you get at each park. Mostly due in part to the name not being tacked onto the front. I know people, coaster people, who still aren't really aware that Knott's Berry Farm and CGA and Cedar Point are all part of the same company. And that could actually be in the company's benefit. At least in my mind.

Say for the sake of arguement those dents are a problem. I'm sure Knotts has it under control. No need to stop construction while they make new ones. Keep building and then when the new parts come in they just remove a couple sections of track, swap out the supports and keep going. Bob's your uncle.

Well, it's probably the thinner air, starving their brains for oxygen. That combined with the low hanging cloud of reefer fumes. But no,seriously, if you think about it Mind Eraser is the greatest coaster ever built if that's all you know. There is a certain crowd out there that hates woodies. I know so many. I knew a guy who said he would never go to Holiday World because 3 of their four coasters are wooden. I told he was missing out but whatever. So if you only like steelies and your choices are between Mind Eraser, Sidewinder, Boomerang and Half Pipe, most people would choose Mind Eraser. They'd be wrong but again, thin air combined with weed. -

I agree. 90% of people never visit parks outside of their region. This is why I have no problems with clone rides. Yeah coaster nerds might not get excited but parks don't build stuff for nerds. They build them for their home crowd. That's how the amusement industry works, as Robb was saying. Anyway, I know lots of people in the Bay area that have never been to SoCal parks and vice versa. In more remote areas with fewer parks like SLC and Denver and even Seattle (where I'm at) its probably even worse. There are people here who have never even been to Silverwood. They think Wild Waves is the shit because that's all they know. People in SLC and Denver are probably the same. I've been to Elitch and if you've never been anywhere else then you have nothing to compare it to so of course it's cool to you. Especially if you've been across to Lakeside. If you think Elitch is a big steaming stool then Lakeside is Ebola infected diarrhea. Elitch is a fine park for what it is. And it has a cool skyline. How many big city downtown parks are there? Plus Mile high Stadium is there too. So if Elitch is crap at least it smells like Rosy poo. -

It's like an old VHS tape copy of a copy of a copy where the quality degrades each time. Using this scenario, the coaster would have been several copies down the VHS chain! Reminds of that Michael Keaton movie where he clones himself and then that clone clones himself and the next clones himself and that last clone winds up a little retarded. In the movie they use that same VHS anology -

MiA is getting a new ride. -
^ I don't buy the water level bullcrap story. Why has this never happened before at Knott's or anywhere else? How many years with log flumes and wild mouse rides without incident? And don't tell me it all happens behind the scenes so we usually don't hear about it. These people got a little bump on the head because their own stupidity and they heard about the Coast Rider story (another "accident" because of sheer stupidity) and thought, hey we can get some money too.

I'm not surprised this lawsuit BS is happening in California. Nor am I surprised people are targeting Knott's. Sure Disney is bigger and has more money but that's the point. They have more money. Unless someone died or had a major traumatic injury Disney isn't going to settle and they'd bury the claimants in court. Disney isn't going to settle over a minor contusion or ankle scrape. Speaking of ankle scrape, I wonder how much longer Coast Rider lasts now that they have those stupid skin guards. And do any other Cedar Fair wild mouse coasters have them or if it just Knott's?

Forgive my ignorance but is a "rapids flume" different from a regular log flume? -

Is there any kind of rumor as what kind of coaster this Primordial is/was supposed to be? Steel, wood. In house, out of house?
