Random Photo TR: Nicole and Derek go to... QVC?!
Meteornotes replied to niiicolaaah's topic in Random, Random, Random
That was amazing. I had no idea QVC was located in PA. I feel all educated and stuff now. Plus any PTR that contains a Joe/Penguin reference kicks much ass. dt -

Fuji-Q is the suckhole of the damned. Like I said before, it's like Six Flags Darien Lake and PKI had a baby and then dropped it on it's head several times. Absolutely horrible operations and crap rides. When the hamster coaster is the best ride in the park, there is a problem. Oddly enough, the Thomas Town was actually nice, which leads me to believe that it was accidentally delivered to the wrong place. If I never see this park again, it will be too soon. Chuck's report rules, as always. And it was cool to see Mt Fuji for a few minutes that day. dt -
Yes, Dinosaur picture! I approve! dt

BAD Hotels/Motels near parks
Meteornotes replied to piers's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I try to stay in nicer hotels as much as possible. We usually stay at Holiday Inn Express or some Marriott property. You pay more, but I always think that "you get what you pay for" is a pretty true statement. I prefer not sleeping somewhere that would make a chainsaw wielding madman say "man, this place is creepy". I'm also going to say that I would never recommend anything near Cedar Point. I've stayed in two craptacular places there (I don't remember the names, sadly). I'll stay further away at a nicer place. I also recommend the HIE right down the street from SFMM if you're going there. I've stayed there a couple of times, and have been impressed. I haven't been there in years, but are all the crack den hotels still right across the street from Knott's? That's another area I'd avoid. Seriously, I was kept up all night by people pounding on doors looking for drug dealers and other unsavory characters. Not a great night. dt -

End of the Year Results
Meteornotes replied to Sticky Nicky's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This really falls into the "pointless poll" category, as it's way too vague. Closed. -
Like New Coke, Rockin' Space Mountain is a horrible, horrible idea that hopefully will never be subjected on humanity ever again. One of the most half-assed presentations of an idea that I have ever seen, and totally ruined the ride. SM is fine, quit screwing around with it and concentrate on things that actually do need improving. dt

EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
Meteornotes replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just want to point out that: - I am alive - I owe Larry a beer - You people would be screwed if I ever got any sort of supernatural powers. Once you heard the sound of death metal and chainsaws suddenly come out of the darkness, it will be too late... dt -

EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
Meteornotes replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yes, agreed. For me, the sign of a potential #1 coaster is one that delivers a quality ride at any time of day/weather condition. If you have to ride a coaster only at a special time (especially if that time can only be accessed at an enthusiast event) or some other random factor, to me this means that it's not the "best". I also take things into account like park operations and ride location when thinking about this stuff. This works for me. Just my dumb thoughts... dt -

^Somehow, I really doubt she's going to be crying herself to sleep over this or anything... dt -
^Yeah, I have to agree with that. As long as the park is easy to get into (HINT: GUEST WITHOUT BAGS LINE, PLEASE!), I really don't care what the entrance looks like. It's the content inside I'm interested in. After reading more about this expansion/improvement, I'm less impressed. This park needs a huge, original attraction, something not available anywhere else in the world, or at least the US (something using the Pooh ride technology from TDL would be cool). A re-themed Test Track and random dark ride are not it. Sure, at this point, almost anything added to this park would be good (a place that thinks that watching tortillas being made counts as entertainment is a massive failure as far as I'm concerned), but it just seems like they'd be so much better off doing something spectacular that's never been done before. dt

^^Trader Joe's is NOWHERE near a good a store as it used to be. When I lived in CA, I shopped there all the time. Now, they don't seem to offer anything that I cannot get at one of my better local grocery stores. I think that Trader Joes got worse after they expanded so much. Ah well, I have access to a Wegman's, which totally destroys all other grocery stores anyway... dt

Vague topic, and you could probably just post this in the "Random" thread stickied at the top of the page. Thanks. dt

This sort of thing happens all the time, is not a big deal, and hardly warrants its own topic. And you can use the already existing Baco topic to talk about this if you need to. Thanks. dt
