  1. Really great pics, German fairs should be exported in America ! I'm really impress when I see rollercoasters with loops being traveled every week ! Olympia looping is probably the coaster I would like to ride if I would die tomorrow... (How come Zonga is SBNO!). I have a question about Olympia Looping, how many ripe ops for the ride and how much time do you have to wait in general to ride it ? Thanks for the great pics ! P.S. You are so photogenic, I'm jealous !
  2. Thanks you for all your advices. I think I'm not going to SFOT of SeaWorld SA, they seems to be close and or have really limited operations... Dollywood seems to be the place to go but if they close their coaster under 40degrees, it seems to be a problem ! I'm not sure I'm willing to take that risk... i have to think about it... Thanks you guys ! I'll let you where I'll go !
  3. I'm not sure Dollywood or Dollar city are really worth it... maybe Dollywood would be a great choice. Thank you for helping me Park trips ! If anybody has suggestion, you're welcome !
  4. Hi everybody ! I need help for choosing a park for a weekend trip in the usa ! The park(s) must be open on weekends of november or december. Could be anywhere in the USA, except Hawaii and Alaska. We want new credits, so California, Las Vegas and Florida are out of question. Anything out there worth it ??? We are thinking of Six Flags over Texas (operating hours are very limited) and or Sea World San Antonio... any suggestion, any open park is welcome ! Thank you
  5. DOH ! the video is not even a rendering of Goliath... it's Nitro...how ridiculous ! http://rapidshare.de/files/6793760/goliath.wmv.html click on Free button, wait 30 seconds...
  6. It's really sloooowwwwwwwwwwww..... The picture i posted is the only one that they have on the website and the video is impossible to download... I'll try to upload the video somewhere else, but i have only 8%of it right now (1 hour left!)... damn ! 46mo is a little big !
  7. Only 2 trains but that's only what they need at La Ronde, operators are so slow there (Union...)
  8. 10 drops, not bad at all... But where's the helix !!? It will be nice and smooth, hopefully very near the water....
  9. This Goliath will be awesome for sure, it will goes up to the Saint-Lawrence river, maybe some track will be over the water, i hope... Images and video in 20 minutes at http://www.laronde.com Sharktums : I don't think SFMM Goliath's is that bad... Could be RagingBull(Ragingdull...)
  10. La Ronde announces the construction of Goliath, Canada's tallest and fastest roller coaster MONTREAL, Oct. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - La Ronde announced today the construction of Canada's tallest and fastest roller coaster. The exciting new steel roller coaster will be called Goliath in tribute to its enormous size, supreme speed and awesome height and will be ready to welcome its first high-thrill seekers as of spring 2006. Goliath is without a doubt La Ronde's biggest project since the Monstre was built in 1985. It will be La Ronde's 11th thrill ride. La Ronde's phenomenal new steel giant will measure over 53 metres(175 feet) in height, making it 13 metres (43 feet) higher than the Monstre and 21 metres (69 feet) higher than the Vampire! After an initial drop of over 52 metres (171 feet), the intrepid passengers will take a 1,231-metre (4,039-foot) route at speeds reaching 110 km/h (68 mph) for over three minutes! Passengers will have to be at least 1.37 metres (54 inches) tall to ride the giant. The exhilarating new Goliath will have two 36-passenger trains, each with nine cars with a capacity of four people across. To enhance this amazingly smooth and thrilling experience, the wagons will be open on the sides and the safety device will attach from bottom to top, giving passengers the impression that they are flying far above Sainte-Hélène Island. A significant feature of the unbeatable Goliath is that its expansive twisting track will whisk guests outside the park, to the eastern point of Sainte-Hélène Island, before rushing them back into the park, over a series of quick hills and drops and finally to a smooth ending in the station house, located near Tour de Ville. "I'm proud to confirm that in 2006, La Ronde will further bolster its position as a world-class theme park with the construction of Canada's tallest and fastest roller coaster! Indeed, as of spring 2006, La Ronde will answer high-thrill seekers' expectations by offering them the astonishing Goliath, custom designed to provide them with extreme thrills they will never forget," said Len Turtora, La Ronde's Vice-President and General Manager. "I invite all Quebecers, Canadians and tourists visiting our beautiful city to come and see for themselves how La Ronde continues not only to evolve but also to offer the most complete family entertainment on the market." Goliath was custom-designed for La Ronde by the famous manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard of Monthey, Switzerland, a company known in the industry for the quality of its thrill-producing rides. Bolliger & Mabillard also designed La Ronde's popular Vampire ride, installed in 2002. Goliath will cost $18.7 million, the largest investment for a single ride since the park opened in 1967. Construction has already begun on the giant roller coaster and will continue throughout the winter in order to be ready for thrill-seekers when La Ronde opens. Building this first-ever ride in Canada, will take close to 100 specialized workers, 300 pilings, 150 cement foundations, 106 columns, 1,750 m(3) (61,800 f3) of cement and 850 anchor bolts. As of October 26, updates, videos and pictures of this large-scale construction project will be regularly posted on www.laronde.com to share the excitement with La Ronde's visitors. La Ronde is owned and operated by Six Flags, Inc. the world's largest regional theme park company, which owns and operates 30 parks in North America. Six Flags Theme Parks serve 34 of the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Six Flags, Inc. is a publicly held corporation with corporate offices in New York City and Oklahoma City. The Company's stock trades on the NYSE under the symbol: PKS.

  12. Oh yes ! It's officially a bolliger and mabillard coaster ! Here's some pics from forum Jirz from http://www.invisionplus.net/forums/index.php?mforum=thrillzone&showtopic=49&st=705entry2075 And the stats will be revealed wednesday on www.laronde.com ! Yeah..it's B&M on the yellow sticker !
  13. OMG ! Being suspended with only a lapbar is scary ! This is the first time i see a picture of a train with lapbar stuck in a loop. I always wondered if lapbars were really safe, I think i've got the answer now ! All coasters should be retrofitted with lapbars, no headbanging anymore !
  14. I saw this guy once, I was visiting the park on weekday, this september. There was nobody in the park that day, everything operating one train and no wait ! When I was in Xcelerator, i noticed an old guy (probably 65 years old) wearing a faded Millenium Force t-shirt. I was surprised that an old guy like him was interested in rolllercoasters. I rode it three times in a row, he was still there... I went back maybe 2 hours later at Xcelerator, he was in the exact same seat and according to the crew, he didn't get off ! At each launch, he was screaming : SCREAM ! It was very annoying... Anyway I think it's kind of sad of going everyday doing the same coaster, get a life man ! Get friends, get mentally sane ! I don't know but don't spend the last years of your lives doing the same thing over and over !
  15. Inuk : Use Priceline options : name your own price... www.priceline.com I always use that website, if you use it just a couple of days before your stay, you can get really great discount. I recently got 4stars Hyatt for 55$/Night..4 stars Hilton 60$/night... Give it a try, you won't be sorry
  16. News ! The press conference for the announcement of the new coaster is set to october 26th ! Can't wait until there...
  17. I'm really happy with these news ! I'm not surprised that Marine World is a successfull theme park. At least, one of the best of the Six Flags family. Great shows, lots of families, great landscaping... Six Flags really should try to get the others parks as clean and entertaining as SFMW ! I hope SF will be able to buy the park and continue to improve it.
  18. I don't know why you want Cedar Fair to get Marine World, because Six Flags is actually doing a really great job. Don't you read the news ? http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19611 The park is doing is best year ever ! The park is really clean, we are so far away from Trash Mountain ! The landscaping is really great, lots of trees and a lot of shaded places. Sorry but looks at Knott's berry farm, do you want Cedar Fair to cut all the trees and put concrete everywhere with cheap 50's theming with no trees at all? (i like knott's but this area is really ugly). There's lot of families, great entertainment, you don't have enough time to see everything in one day, there's so much different shows, animal, coasters...
  19. Too bad that Colossus wasn't running backwards on your day. I went sunday and both track were running (one backward and one forward) two trains ! (Miracle!) Colossus backwards rocks !
  20. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! The coaster will be revealed late october. Strong rumors about a B&M hyper are on the net but nothing is quite sure yet... the best is yet to come ! Here are some construction pictures from Thrill Zone Forum, La Ronde Capoté member. http://www.invisionplus.net/forums/index.php?mforum=thrillzone&act=idx
  21. A Tim Burton movies theme park.... imagine that... themes that would be great : Edward scissorhands Charlie and the Chocolate factory Sleepy Hollow Corpse bride Mars Attack Beetlejuice the nightmare before Christmas This park would be awesome...
  22. SFMM's new flyer is the most interesting thing to me. As said before, SFMM is home the record-breakers... the landscaping (on a mountain with mature trees) is already a big plus for the coaster, how can it be bad ? All B&M flyers are great... The Voyage will probably be the best woodie ever, six tunnels, awesome speed and 90degrees inclined track... Hades was just an awesome preview... SFOG's Goliath will be great but B&M hypers are everywhere... And what about SixFlags La Ronde's new coaster ? Six Flags need to invest 35millions in 2006 to respect their contract with the city of Montreal. Rumors says that tracks arrived last week at the park...
  23. Génial ! A carousel with bikes ? never seen that one ! Amélie Poulain music, that was great... Magical video... I'm happy now Thank you I'll add the museum to my list of must see for my 2006 Europe trip !
  24. When I rode Goliath (SFMM)this summer, the ride went down several times, mechanics were checking the restraints, they even took off some, "play" with them , putting them back in place, in front of us ! (i was about to get in the coaster, at the gate)... When I finnally got on the ride, i took down the restraint (it's a lap bar), been checked by an attendant, the train departed and 2 sec later my lap bar failed and opened up ! They didn't stop the train !!! I don't think they've seen what just happened to me... i took the lapbar down a second time (we were about to get on the lift hill) and i hoped that it stayed lock during the ride... I never hold on in a roller coaster...this time i held my hands real tight with the back of the seat ahead of me. I WAS SO SCARE ! I didn't enjoyed the ride at all... my boyfriend that was with me and the two people in front of us didn't enjoyed the ride either... you should have seen the look on their face when they saw my restraint failed ! Their face was saying : OMG he's gonna die ! with their eyes big open... (hopefully there's no major airtime on Goliath).. I hope it will never open again
  25. It seems that Goliath got no mid-brake course (or block brake)... Sure it will be better thant SFMM's Goliath (mid-brake ruin everything...) does it means that it will be able to run only one train in the coaster..the other being in the station loading passenger or waiting for the train on the coaster to end his ride ?
