La Ronde Getting a new water park?
Skyscraper replied to PCW FREAK's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I heard that the weather was too cold so the waterpark was not popular. Don't forget that La Ronde is an island in the middle of Saint-Laurent river, it can get pretty cold sometimes ! I wish good luck for a new waterpark, there's already 4-5 waterparks in the Montreal area... maybe water plays structures would be a greater fit for La Ronde. -
La Ronde Getting a new water park?
Skyscraper replied to PCW FREAK's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can say for sure that the waterpark was there in 1983 ! We see some slides in a old Celine dion video. La Ronde old waterpark in background -
Wow you guys had a great day at La Ronde ! Next time you go to La Ronde when it's not open, drive 2 hours east and go to Galeries de la Capitale amusement park in Quebec city, always open and indoor, great family roller coaster and REALLY good bumper cars... if you really are credit whores lol Capitale Express video (not mine)

Video TR: My Life Without TPR...

OMG it's so funny... fake blood after the pov... hilarious ! Crying moment... you made my day ! -
If you have the Six Flags pass already, don't miss it ! If you arrive early in the day you should do this if you want to ride everything : First, go buy a flashpass. Use it for Vampire, Goliath, Orbite and Cobra in the afternoon. In the morning, go the Toboggan nordique first then go ride Le Monstre two sides, then Splash boats, Supermanege, Boomerang, Manitou if no or little line. Then go for the Log Flume and Dragon coaster. Spongepop 4D never has a line and don't miss Nintendo dome ! If a ride is broken down, I say don't wait for it too long, mechanics seems to be understaffed sometimes... It's an easy subway ride from Montreal downtown, don't miss it.

Mike (my boyfriend) phoned me and asked me if I wanted to go at La Ronde after his job... why not, it's monday and it shouldn't be crowded ! Boy I was wrong... way to many people... sometimes I forgot that La Ronde is a day camp for Montreal teens, accessible by subway... First, a great ride, the Montreal subway... smooooth.... (rubber tires...) Second ride, the La Ronde unofficial tram ... the city bus between the subway station and La Ronde (about a mile). Yeah ! La Ronde main entrance ! Some 1967 concrete theming... Miniature SUV day at La Ronde... Wep, crowded... Six Flags and cheap shows... The wet t-shirts contest ! Mike is looking way too much serious today Work clothes... Recycling machine for sodas...great idea ! Toboggan nordique... an average-ish wild mouse by Zamperla with seatbelts and slowwwwsssss dispatchs. Ride it first if you come at La Ronde ! Splast boats with seatbelts... 2 boats, a full waiting line... Le Monstre... god this wooden sucks and so is the full queue line with one train on each track... no Monstre for me today ! Still popular, the ride and puke ride or like some people like the call it : L'ovni Goliath entrance... I wish it was the one in Europe. A fun ride, but boring layout and doesn't feel fast at all... my only ride of the day ! (subway and bus doesn't count, no...) For lifts motors enthusiasts only Not a bad line... 30 minutes wait.. I can see the diving show from Goliath's queue.... It really doesn't make sense... 1989 painters costumes with medieval castle ??!?! Me and Goliath... Everybody's watching the diving show... if only all Six Flags queues had a diving show... but concrete and steel is cheaper Another one... I want to show my Theme Park Review t-shirt...lol Another fun thing about Goliath's queue... it's passing under Goliath track between the brakerun and the station. Yeah ! almost my turn... Me and about to get mooned... I mean Goliath... French panckes goodness...mmmmmm Another ride and puke ride... Dragon... and indoor family coaster... supposed to be dark but so much lights gets in... slow and boring but really popular with little kids. I ride the Dragon only if there's no line... Seems like I won't ride it today ! Mmmmmm... Sorbet goodness... Mike is complaining that his ananas sorbet tastes like apples... another Six Flags cheap cut-out ? lol My raspberry sorbet was quite good... Yeah ! A Batman clone ! La Ronde has an amazing setting in the middle of the river by Montreal's skyline... If only I was at Seaworld right now... Another Goliath picture... Monorail and REALLY stupid operations... people are allowed to stay on as long as they want... so nobody is getting off the monorail and the line never moves... it's supposed to be move from A to B.... not for tanning all afternoon ! See ? This is a one hour line for the monorail.... stupid operations ! Splast boats and some theming.. Another Zemperla clone.... the Manitou... way too little capacity for a theme park this size ! New theming area for 2006... the Smoking area with 1967 benches... they demolished the haunted house for that ! The second Boomerang ever made ! People really likes to wait to get hurt on this ride ! La Ronde great team... - Should we call maintenance ? -Should we call security ? - Let's call the union and get it done for the end of next week ok ? Old skyway station The only real theming in the park is in the children area... Signature picture of a Batman clone ! Mmmm.... 2 trains and 5min stacking between trains... I guess Ill skip Vampire too ! Goodbye Vampire... Cobra... this Intamin pre-BM stand-up is rough and shakes like it's gonna fall apart any minute... did once this year and willl wait next year for my next ride... Coolest theme park t-shirt ever ! This is Mrs.Six for children... or Ribambelle.... The only real bargain at La Ronde... 1$ Mr.Freeze.... mmmmmmmmmm Finally....one ride for two hours in the park... the problem with the park is that even if you get there by the opening...no rides will open until 10:30 or 11:00... So the park is full and you have queues everywhere... You have to buy Flashpasses because of their bad operations... Hope that La Ronde will be sold too...

Hi ! I'm currently planning my coaster trip for august. I'm living in Montreal and I plan to go directly to Six Flags Great Adventure with a little stop at Jiminy peak for the alpine slides (never done that before!). Here's my itinerary : August 2 : Drive to NJ and stop to Jiminy peak (Sleeping at Marriott Somerset) August 3 : SF Great Adventure (Sleeping at Marriott Somerset) August 4 : SF Great Adventure (Sleeping at Courtyard Crystal City) August 5 : Washington visit (Sleeping at Courtyard Crystal City) August 6 : Six Flags America (Sleeping at Courtyard BWI Baltimore) August 7 : Hersheypark (Sleeping Crowne Plaza Harrisburg) August 8 : Hersheypark (Sleeping Crowne Plaza Harrisburg) August 9 : Knoebels (Sleeping at Best western Lehigh Valley) August10: Dorney Park (Sleeping at Holiday inn Select Clinton) August11: Go back to Montreal Here are my questions : Am I forgetting some interesting side trips on my way between parks ? Should I hit El Toro or Kindga Ka at SFGDV opening ? Should I hit Superman or the Vekoma flying coaster first at SFA ? Any good places to eat ? Is there discount for a 2 day tickets at Hersheypark and one day ticket for Knoebels ? Anything else I should know ? Thanks you so much for your answers !

Mapblast says 3 hours and they are right, it would take about that time to get to Valcartier waterpark from La Ronde. Don't worry about traffic, between Montreal and Quebec, it's fluid. http://maps.msn.com/directions.aspx?&StartName=La+Ronde+(amusement+park)%2c+Montr%u00e9al%2c+Qu%u00e9bec%2c+Canada&StartLocation=45.51304%2c-73.53756&EndName=1860+Blvd+Valcartier%2c+St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier+QC&EndLocation=46.94087%2c-71.47486&DataSetLangID=USA&RouteType=Quickest&RouteUnit=Miles -

Lol Tinflowers, during the winter season, there is only ice and snow slides, no water rides ! Some slides, like Everest and Vertigineuses (old blue ones with the cocacola sign) are used in the winter(and it's really crazy!!). Everest use tubes with 2 up to 6 people together and the blue ones use crazy carpets (plastic mat). That page will show you the winter activities ! www.valcartier.com/english/activites/act2.html#1 The water of all attractions except the ones of the artificial lake is always heated at 80degrees minimum, and Happy waterfalls, City of dungeons have warmer water ! It's always comfortable, the park is open even if it's cold or rainy. The steam is indeed a special effect ! By the way, the hot chick is Annie Pelletier, an olympic diver. Waterviper : Inside the tunnel of the Amazone, it's a ancient Mayan Temple. After some rapids, there's is a lot of steam, you don't see nothing and then you enter the steam, which is the entrance of the tunnel, you cross the steam and by magic you're are now indoor ! This is like a cave, with rocks and waterfalls, if you have the timing right, the water is boiling under you, very fun effect. You have ropes at some places, if you pull them down, some statues will splash water over you and the others. There's some skeleton too of people that entered the Mayan temple but never made it out ! And when you exit, there's a huge waterfall falling over you with lot of forces... very fun ! -

I got the pictures from my underwater camera ! Yeah ! Like I thought, all the pictures that were taken inside the attractions are not visible, it was way to dark to get good pictures ! Just go there, you'll see amazing animatronics, amazing scenery, etc... On-rides pictures : The witch's bowl Cemetery of City of Dungeons, the gargoyle is supposed to have water through his mouth but it was not working that day. Just before the cemetery and after the first indoor section This part is awesome with water gargoyles and witches throwing water at you The village is so good looking ! Entrance to the second indoor section of City of the Dungeons Amazon River ride -built in 1992 - (and a look at my beautiful feets lol): Mike on the amazon river Probably not a Dan "friendly ride" lol At that moment, the Amazon goes real fast ! After the indoor section, huge waves and play structure ! Me playing in the water In the Happy waterfalls ride : Mike in the Happy waterfalls : Huge waves (and that is the tamed mode!) That day was such a blast ! We already want to go back ! -

ECZnith : It really would be a shame to miss this waterpark ! And if you come, don't forget to ride the only credit in Quebec city, Capital Express, a really good family coaster situated in Galeries de la Capitale shopping mall. --- Here's some web pictures of City of dungeons And the 2004 tv ad : (everything that you see is in the ride) www.lg2.com/lg2/realisations.php?media=1&sel=199&fs=0&ofs= -
Hi ! Today Mike and I went to Village Vacances Valcartier, a waterpark in Quebec city. This waterpark is mostly unknown, but it is probably the best.. I've been to blizzard beach, typhoon lagoon, raging waters, pga, sfgrm, etc... and no one has the thrills of Valcartier waterpark. In 2004, they added the best water attraction ever made, City of Dungeons. The theming of this water attraction is incredible. Animatronics, video preview in queue line... it's almost Disney ! City of the dungeons is basically a lazy river in a medieval theme. You can choose between 3 adventures when you ride City of Dungeons. First, you pick up your 2 people tube and you can go directly into the flooded kingdom (the river), or you can choose to go up to the tower and face two amazing slides : One is a pitch dark/outdoor slide that goes directly in the river and the other is an awesome dark slide that goes into a Proslide bowl with fog that simulates the boiling pot of the Witch that flooded the town... and it goes in the river. I will have on-ride pictures of the river later this week ! Don't miss them, it's awesome ! Some pictures : City of dungeons entrance 3 different experiences : River only, Speed slide, Bowl slide. Queue line Here's a little playground for kids under 5 (new for 2005) : The cocorico farm New for 2006 : Pirate's eden Not open yet, they were shooting the tv ad today ! Opening June 27th Amazing... Look at those pirate's feets ! They are slides ! Wooden theming slides and look at the far right, a hand is supporting the structure ! Not quite ready yet... Was new for 2003 : A map of the park : Older section of the waterpark but still very fun ! Yeah, this is a very gay friendly waterpark lol ! The gay friendly slides : The first slides of the waterpark in 1978, they are still a blast ! Everest slides used to be the tallest in America at 34meters high ! Great airtime on those slides ! The happy waterfalls... it goes fast, you get stuck forever and it's so fun ! And the water is warmer than a whirpool ! Amazon is the other heavily themed attraction... you go down the Amazon river on your tube very fast and you get drench ! Too bad I can't take pictures of the Amazon, the attraction is deeper in the woods and access is restricted The end of the attraction : Yeah ! Old school waterpark ! Probably the best wavepool ever made, two different programs of waves, 15 minutes each ! One is more tamed (the pictures shows the tamed version but still most thrilling than most wave pool!). Center Pavillion of the park with a bar, a restaurant, lockers,etc... The entrance of the park, a little main strest Usa : Don't forget to check the little video I made in the The Professional Amateur Videographer Forum! I'll post some on-rides or on-slides pictures later this week ! It will surprise you !
