PREACH!! My look of utter confusion and pain after my ride experience would probably have been good for comedy, but not for photo sales! -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

When I went there with TPR on the Mid-West tour, I had this attitude and rode it. When we got off, I told my traveling companions that I wish they had just punched me in the face a few times. It would have had the same effect as riding, without having to wait. Sad part is, it is an AWESOME looking thing. You know you are in for it when the on-ride photo is BEFORE the lift hill though. -
Up .14 now. Here's the news from my stock ticker here at work: Six Flags stock rallies after Cedar Fair deal fails 12:50 PM Eastern Daylight Time Apr 08, 2010 * Shares of Six Flags double in two days * Cedar Fairs investor notes merger interest By Tom Hals WILMINGTON, Del., April 8 (Reuters) - Shares of bankrupt theme park operator Six Flags Inc have doubled in two days after a collapsed deal involving a rival indicated that values in the industry are improving, an analyst said on Thursday. Shares of Six Flags, which operates 19 parks, rose from around 15 cents on Tuesday to up to 39 cents on Thursday. Volume at midday on Thursday was already six times the average volume for the last 10 trading sessions. The rally was ignited after Apollo Management failed earlier this week to secure investor support for its takeover of Cedar Fair LP , which operates 11 parks. In addition, a leading Cedar Fair investor, Q Funding III LP, said in a regulatory filing it had been approached by a group of Six Flags bondholders, known as the SFI Noteholders, about merging the two companies. Q Funding said those conversations ceased when Six Flags switched its allegiance from a rival group of bondholders and adopted the proposed plan of reorganization crafted by the SFI Noteholders. "The developments at Cedar Fair indicate that values throughout the industry are improving and bode well for the value at Six Flags," said Robert Goodman, a senior vice president CRT Capital Research in Stamford, Connecticut. A higher value at Six Flags would also support the plan currently backed by the company, which is likely to be opposed by a group known as SFO Noteholders. The company supported an SFO plan as recently as early March and before switching sides Six Flags had criticized the SFI plan for putting too much debt on the company. A higher valuation could also embolden more junior creditors, including Resilient Capital Management, which would be wiped out under the current proposed plan. The investment fund has asked the court to replace the company's management. Six Flags did not immediately return a call for comment. The case is In re: Premier International Holdings Inc, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Delaware, No. 09-12019. ((thomas.hals@thomsonreuters.com; 1-302-993-6283; Reuters Messaging thomas.hals.reuters.com@reuters.net)) ((editing by Gunna Dickson)) Keywords: SIXFLAGS/ I've highlighted the part that mentions the Cedar Fair investor and the END of their talks with Six Flags.

I liked the Kraken scenes with the Pegasus flying through the tentacles. Overall, this ones visuals suffered from the "too much of a good thing" syndrome. The 3-D was good, not that throw crap at the camera stuff made famous in the 80's, but there was often so much going on and so in your face that I got confused and didn't know what to look at. It was good eye candy, but IMHO they strayed too far from the plot of the original. Maggie "McGonnagal" Smith played Thetis in the original, and in this re-make none of the goddesses had anything to do. boo- hiss

Thanks for the photos! That place looks AWESOME and I can't wait until TPR visits there this summer. I keep thinking to myself, "that's gonna' leave a mark " -

I'm eager to see what they do at SFA as well. My one and only visit there was okay. Not great, but okay. I was with a TPR group and many of us saw a lot of opportunity for improvement. Keep in mind, I'm not bashing the park, just hoping for improvements. It's sad when what can be great is merely good. It appeared at the time like it had been kind of left behind (ba$tard $tepchild if you will...) It appears (by his speech) that Mr. Shapiro recognizes this and I hope he can follow through. I've been a Six Flags fan (SFoG) since like 1978 - My first job was with Six Flags and heck - I even own stock. I look forward hopefully to watching them improve. D.

I'm looking forward to this in August. Looks to be a blast! I'm a big fan of the "spin and pukes" so this is right up my alley. -
Corey Haim - sad, sad story. He never got the concepts of sobriety and suffered greatly for it. He was my age also.

^^ Good point Steve. I hadn't thought about the longer "off season" at a lot of more northern parks. I, too, would like to see SOB burn. I remember telling my other TPR friends after riding it that if I said I wanted to ride again, to just punch me in the face a few times to give me the same result without actually having to walk up the queue line.

Totally just watched that movie again recently. The best movie I'd never heard about before watching!!

I'll agree with others here. SFoG is an awesome park (it's been my home park since the late 70's) but you can definitely do it in one day (even without Q-bot - but get it if you can for numerous re-rides on Mindbender and Goliath.) Alabama Adventure was great and Rampage just kicked my butt from one side of the park to the other. AMAZING rides! The staff was great and we had a blast there. It's not that far from Atlanta and by getting into Atl. later in the evening you can also miss Psychotic Rush Hour (one of the reasons I moved ) Hope you have a great trip and safe travels to you. David P.S. Steve - I was there on the Deep South tour and you guys were doing an AWESOME job then and it appears that you are still doing it! Thanks for the great time!

^ and night rides on Kumba are just bliss. Rode several times during Howl-o-scream last October and by far the Kumba rides were the highlight of the trip. If Gwazi is only testing the MF trains, let's hope that the testing goes well and they order some. I like the coaster well enough, but any lovin' is good in my book and MF trains are awesome. D.

Club TPR is Coming in March!

^ I agree Well - I'll just have to sing it in my head Looking forward to this Robb. You and Elissa do an excellent job with the trips, site, videos, etc... so I have absolutely no doubt that this will be just awesomeness on top of awesomeness with an extra side of plain white awesome. david -
This whole discussion has gottem me thinking... Has anyone else noticed that the farther north you go, the better the wooden coasters get? Not all by any stretch, but in gereral. Perhaps this new technology will help with some of the Southern coasters that can desperately use it. Here in the South East there are high temperatures and obscene humidity to deal with - in Texas, "dry heat." Maybe this new hybrid track design will help maintain the coasters (be they wood or steel) and create less pain for us. I could be way off base, and the coasters just require better maintenance, but I'm hopeful. As I posted earlier - TG was AWESOME when it was new. Just awesome. Looking forward to what happens.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
jynx242 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A couple come to mind: Double Ferris Wheels absolutely horrify me. I feel like I'm whirling around on an giant erector set. Actually - any ferris wheel. Wonder Wheel at Coney Island was beautiful and I rode with a great crowd, but nothing that tall and that old should move that much Skyscrapers - designed by Satan. Lost my voice screaming on the one at the Dells. -
^As if you remember that day. The only part I didn't remember was riding Spaceship Earth! I remember how awesome we did playing Where's the Fire though! I totally thought the nice asian op was going to stroke out with you guys there... I am suprised that you remember that drink - when did you have it? I don't think it was after the "Heavenly Clouds" and the Chinese Restaurant, was it? David "good times...good times" M.
